CCFC- what do we want on Match-days? (2 Viewers)

I remember a Jaguar exhibition taking place on match day a few seasons ago in the Jag Halls, it was certainly very busy and unrelated to football, wether it made any difference to the overall attendance or indeed it was intended to does anyone know ?

All I am saying is that it is in all our interests if the match day experience is improved. That being the case I think the focus should be on families and children as those of us that are only interested in the 90 minutes, myself included, will go (or not) regardless of other stuff that's going on. Children often dictate family behavior, so make it sparkly, colorful and fun and they will want to go. They are our future and the club should try everything possible to get them there. I cannot for the life of me, see why anyone would be resistant to that.

The club do do things at the minute too, as I mentioned earlier the Christmas Party thread I made was quiet and the JSB people do work hard.

The first thing any parent who wants their kid to be into CCFC should do is sign them up to the JSB's.

You don't think a child might be keener to attend if he/she was going to meet players, win a prize, get a free flag, get their face painted, play a game, etc? Yes or no?

I'm sure player meets happen as for the rest no. They'd be far more interested in playing on their phone.

I'm all for creating a good atmosphere, but the talks of magicians, jugglers and fair ground rides is silly. Maybe we could have Tim Fisher as the circus ringleader as well?

Handing out a few flags and sky blue balloons, getting current/former players involved, showing classic matches on the scoreboard, kids 5 a side games at half time are all fine but some of the suggestions on here are crossing the line of silly.

Another idea, how about a football free style/skills competition that could run at half time?

Fun Fairs? I was talking about small footy related side stalls, not the bloody Waltzers! But I don't agree that everything has to be CCFC related, just fun.

All I want is to be able to turn up and find there are enough turnstiles open that I don't have to queue for ages if a few more people than usual have come to a game.

Same when I'm in the ground, if I want a pie or a beer it should be quick service although that's more Compass / ACL than the club. I've never understood why they don't have beer, teas etc ready and waiting at half time, surely they know roughly how many they will need, can't change that much week to week, and can have some staff prepping stuff. Be much better than being served by someone who can't work the till properly who then has to go off and make a cup of tea, acting like its something they've never done before in their life.

They could make better use of video before the game and at half time. Arsenal did a good job of that, although I can imagine their budget is a lot bigger. Saying that I'm sure if you're an Arsenal fan seeing similar things every game it still gets boring.

Stadium wide wifi would be nice for checking other scores, the forum etc at half time. Again though that's probably more a job for ACL.

Things for the kids are great but I get the impression a lot of that is already done. Maybe it needs advertising more if people don't know its happening.

I agree with you Samo - although I do live in Warwick, and you have probably not picked a great example. If you can find anywhere to have fun around the town, I'd love to know where it is = and if you do succeed, my better half will ban me from going!

I can tell you exactly what would happen if they did these things. People would moan that they queued to get the face painting done and ran out of time and the child's day was ruined.

The flags had gone that's the only reason we came.

It's pretty ridiculous to be fair. I'd much prefer whatever little money the club has directed towards the team rather than some form of crass entertainment.

Grendel, you are an intelligent fella. Isn't the aim to get more bums on seats and try to get the next generation of kids to turn into the Sky Blue faithful?

Vintage railway displays? Seriously? Very poorly put across point. It is the kids that need our main concentration. We know many adults will come and see a team playing winning football. Kids come to games and if they see a poor product on the pitch and that is their day, they are less likely to want to come back.

If we lose but there is other stuff there to cheer them up, they will be more likely to return. It's not rocket science.

It's ridiculous that people are talking about bribery. Anyone who has kids know how things work and we all know you can force kids to do something, but if there is something they are not so keen on doing, but something else is thrown into the mix, they are more likely to go.

Yes, because visiting a castle is the same as watching a football team every couple of weeks isn't it and get somebody to support the club.

I went to the Castle because my daughter was excited to learn about the castle and all the things castle / history related. I didn't take her to the castle because they had big screen TV's with PS4's, everything on at the Castle was related to the Castle and the history behind it while being entertaining too. It was all themed.

Still though, I was a bit pissed off they didn't lay on some drifting in the car park for those not interested in the history or the castle it's self to get them up there.

We like stately homes and English Heritage sites and stuff like that, but my daughter shows very little interest. If there is a playground or play area though and the promise of an ice cream and a game of frizbee, she'll be there like a shot.

It's a package and for the kids I don't see why a day at the football game can't be a package. Once they are hooked they will be hooked, but at the end of the day none us want to see a losing football team and that hits kids all the harder.

while a ‘Fan Zone’ in the stadium’s Jaguar Exhibition Hall will hold numerous bars and food outlets

they sell food and drink which they make money on. we'd have to hire the hall and wouldn't get the money from food and drink.

on the finances, if something like this hall drew fans in and created revenue for whoever, lets says ACl / Wasps, instead of fans drinking in town etc, why would they charge rent ?. I assume they dont currently charge rent for the bars that are open in the stadium on match day ?

No idea, haven't been to a Wasps game. There is one thing worth pointing out though. Wasps were providing season ticket holders with free transport last season, so they had coach loads of people at the ground before the game giving them a captive audience. How many of our fans would get out of the pub early to go and drink in the Jag Hall?

Same reason any venue charges you rent.

The operating costs will be part of the rent and / or matchday costs. One of the reasons stands are being closed this season is that the club are being charged per stand. May well be that part of that is covering the cost of operating F&B.

Concerts are seperate events, requiring added costs that opening the jag hall on ccfc match days wouldn't need, but you know that.
