Having an album launch around the start of the season may not seem like the best idea.

Why QPR appointed Ainsworth is beyond comprehension. He previously managed a side who could only possibly play in one manner with the players at their disposal. Moves to QPR with a polar opposite set of players and can't change tactics as he only knows one way . Disastrous appointment

I’d be very worried if I was a QPR fan, always had Ainsworth down as a decent bloke and I still stand by that, but he sounds massively out of his depth here

They’ve won 4 in the last 34 - the only reason they survived is they won back to back games towards the end of last season which came out the blue

The club is in massive trouble

When critchley took over they were I think in the top 2 - they were in the bottom 6 by the time he was fired

Also they seem to have 4 of the first 5 games away

I’d be surprised if they avoid administration this season

They lost the goalkeeper Dieng but have hardly been asset stripped which makes the downturn bizarre

I've listened to a few of Ainsworth's interviews and read a fair bit of the QPR forum over the past few days, and it's clear that their whole season is geared around desperately trying to avoid relegation. Ainsworth has said it repeatedly, referencing the fact that they're one of the bookies favourites to go down. He's also said openly that they can't afford to sign players, and are having to have players on trial that are injury prone simply because they can't afford anything else. He knows that the club will probably drop to League One, and it's just a case of trying to somehow manage expectations whilst also avoiding coming across to the fans like relegation is an inevitability. He's basically a fall guy for the board, and I suspect that was the plan from the moment he was employed. Shameful way to treat a club legend, imo.

Fine example of spending within your means, years of over spending has fucked them, as it has derby.

Good post. Some ridiculous posts on here saying he's out of his depth and clueless, not many managers could do anything with the complete garbage of a squad they have. A lot of their players clearly don't even want to be there.

They have some good players in their squad though

Complete garbage yet they were flying for the first half of last season. Watching most of their game yesterday it wasn’t ability that was the problem, they looked like they’d already given up.

I will never understand people disliking ainsworth. Did sn amazing job at Wycombe.

He's clearly someone who is living his life to fullest with his music career and dress sense etc. He will have no regrets and maybe that's what pisses some people off?

Strange from Bristol City, announced a home sell out against Preston the other day .. official attendance 23300 , nowhere near a sellout, All football sites reporting 29000 .. seen the pics , tons of empty seats

Which began the day Beale left - 4 wins since - 3 with Ainsworth and 1 under Critchley - its clear that they see themselves as relegation candidates and are planning now accordingly

I assume also something is wrong with the ground - they seem to be playing 4 out of 5 of the first games away

They still have a big financial hangover from their massive overspending in the top flight I think. Fernandes sold the club last month and it’s not clear who took it on.

Look at the state of him though. He wears cowboy boots on the touch line. It might be fine at a tin pot club like Wycombe but QPR are a big club and it looks so out of place. Perception is reality

My perception is 'What an interesting bloke. I really like his individuality' so forgive errors. It is all in the eye of the beholder.

Much better than Dowie or Coleman prowling menacingly, inches from the touchline. Nothing could be more intimidating for players than that.

You aren’t calling Coleman a prick are you?

Haven’t seen much in the way of personal digs at Ainsworth as a bloke.

It’s all that he’s way, way out of his depth managing in this league. Which is the truth.

Just watch the highlight show and the wankfest over Plymouth. I hope it gets more balanced as the season progresses, overall there was some dodgy looking footy on show from a few teams

I just love the Championship. Better than the Prem. You can argue that a dozen clubs could get into the top 6, even if the top two are liable to be from the recently relegated three. You can predict the Prem's top 6 right now.

There are three relegated teams, plus Norwich and Watford who will still have parachute payments. There are three 'big' clubs - Sunderland, Middlesbrough and WBA. There are the well managed clubs with proven long-standing managers, Coventry & Millwall. There are 'established' clubs who could have a good season - Stoke and Bristol City. Then there will always be a wild card - Plymouth or Ipswich or someone else who just goes on a good run a bit like we did two seasons ago.

The thing is that games matter and almost right to the end - unlike the Prem
