It isn't worth the hassle. We obviously disagree and to me describing those who dont offer leniency to Evans as a "mob" is somewhat strange.

Do you know any women who have been raped?

Yes actually. Do you know any men who have been accused of it?
And that's not what I said... for the record: I would describe those who insist that a man is still guilty despite that verdict being overturned (should that happen of course) as no better than the mob.

I understand but there appears to yet again be an onus on the victim to prove yet again she was raped.

I don't see it as that personally. I just see it as it is, that he has won the right of appeal and now I like many others want to know what exactly this new evidence is.

I don't see it as an onus on her to prove she was raped, just that evidence now being presented wasn't available at trial.

Yeah, and back out and back in again. I thought she was totally off her tits and carried in.*

*i genuinely thought that, I'm not being sarcastic, all the best

There do seem to be some inconsistencies in the case. That however doesn't mean that the girl wasn't raped.

So would I, but the verdict hadn't been overturned, has it? So surely it's a bit early to be insulting others by calling them mobs and divs?

Not at all. I know someone who was murdered, doesn't mean that I can't question what could be a dodgy looking murder trial. Mr Strawman.

At the moment he is still guilty in the eyes of the law, is he not? No need for the cheap insults.

Of course he is still guilty at the moment, I've not said otherwise. I'm sticking with the Strawman comment though as that's your default in the majority of your arguments regardless of what it's about.

Better than having a meltdown and running away though eh ;)

I didn't call anyone a div. (although the candidates are plentiful) I see plenty of evidence on this thread of mob mentality. Otis is right, (as fucking usual) it is like walking on eggshells... you have to watch every word and we can't have a full and frank debate because as soon as you express a counter argument some twat is hollering from his moral high ground (on which I suspect he has no business being) that you condone rape and support a rapist. That will teach us not to debate serious issues on footy sites I suppose.

I retract saying div. I'm sorry for any offence I may have caused. I also extend this to everyone reading this and my family. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me I'll be eternally grateful.

No, never! May you burn in hell for eternity!

Yes

Making an unfounded accusation that a woman lying about rape is just as bad as making unfounded accusation of rape against men you know.

So you agree that all possibilities should be explored and both parties questioned re their version of events? As would be the case in any other area of law?

I wrote on here before about my mate who is serving five and a half years for assault on his long term girlfriend.Under interview the police asked her if he'd sexually assaulted her but she said no he was too drunk to do that,he just punched her a few times when an argument got out of hand etc.But the prosecution wanted sexual assault added on to the charge of assault and even though she said she wasn't they carried on with it.
He was told to go guilty and under pressure in court he pleaded guilty but he didn't do anything sexual and ended up getting the longer sentence. He was ashamed at hitting her and even she said in the court that it was out of character, but as he had a record in the past they threw the book at him. He has served just over three years and he's out this Christmas, but he's a broken man now and she's disappeared. We his mates and family asked him why plead guilty to something he never did ?
He said as he was that drunk he couldn't remember anything that night but it's ruined his life now.

So where does Ched Evans go then if things are found in his favour after all he is a provern good player, can't see it being here but where ?. Anywhere in Britain would be difficult imo even in the lowest leagues. just look at the outcry when he was to train at former club Sheffield United. If i was him i would go abroad, somewhere like Germany, good standard and perhaps away from the intrusive British press who would be over him like a rash.

Very interesting case just heard and this shows there is a discernible difference in approach and sentencing dependent on gender.

A babysitter has been spared jail after her 11-year-old victim’s father stood up for her.

Jade Hatt, 21, had sex with the boy when he had a day off school.

His father, who previously had a sexual relationship with Hatt, told Swindon Crown Court that his son was ‘sex mad’ and ‘fully up for the experience’.

He added that it was a ‘notch on his belt’.

The court heard, however, that the incident lasted 45 seconds and stopped when the boy said he had not enjoyed it and knew it was wrong.

Rob Ross, defending Hatt, read a statement from the father, saying: ‘I know he told her he was 15. He looks older than his years.

‘He is sex mad. He would have been fully up for this experience and in many ways sees it as a notch on his belt and is totally unaffected by it.’

Prosecutor Hannah Squire said: ‘It was during the day and the boy was off school. The defendant arrived at about 11.30am.

‘The boy was laying down, Jade Hatt sat on top of him, sat astride him, took off her clothes and removed his.
‘In his words she started bouncing on his private parts. Sexual intercourse took place.

‘According to him it was fairly brief: about 45 seconds. She told him she enjoyed it, he said he had not as it was wrong.’

Judge Tim Mousley QC jailed her for six months, suspended for two years, and she must register as a sex offender for seven years.

So here you have a 20 yr old girl having sex with an 11 yr old boy and she only gets a suspended sentence. Had that been the other way round and it been a 20 yr old man having sex with an 11 yr old girl they would have thrown the book at him and he would have been serving a fairly lengthy jail sentence.

Yes, get that there are mitigating circumstances in that the father has sort of come out and defended the incident, but then again, this is the gender divide at play, for how would he have reacted if this had been a 20 yr old man having sex with his 11 yr old daughter? Very, very differently you would have thought.

Seemingly it's also apparently okay to say your 11 rd old lad is sex mad. Again a term surely that would have never ever been used had it been a daughter. The dad says it was 'a notch on his belt.' That would never ever had been said either you would have thought if it was his 11 yr old daughter.

I find this story incredible and it just shows there still exists a difference in thinking dependent on gender.

Yes all possibilities should be explored. But I have one big question. If he did nothing wrong why did he leave the hotel via the fire escape?

To me he was found guilty and is guilty until found otherwise. And having a website that twists the truth doesn't count to me.

Sounds like his dad is a class a c-unit. I'd be absolutely livid if that was my son, and I'd be asking the judge to through the whole library at her.

But he was still guilty of rape at the time, IF he is found not guilty the reaction should be different. The whole situation is a mess and just about sums up the sordid life so of these people live. That is both players and groupies!! But if found not guilty then he should be allowed to carry on with his life and chosen career.

What I don't get is why people say he was found guilty by a court so is guilty but if the conviction is overturned by a court he would still be guilty to them?

There is still this perception unfortunately that for a bloke if he is sleeping around he is a bit of a player and if it's for a woman, she is a slag.

There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever, that had this been a 20 year old bloke with an 11 yr old girl, he would be locked away for a number of years.

Yep, agree. If he is proved to be innoncent, then he should be free to resurrect his career.

He would still be a disgusting human being regardless of the result... not the sort of character I would want at my club under any circumstances.

Guilty or not don't think I would want him here and would worry that clubs may not want to send their young players if he was here.

This is repulsive and so wrong from every angle. What a role model the father sounds for his son, heaven help us.

His release date is around Christmas but as he got charged with a sexual assault he has to go to a hostel out of Coventry and sign the sex offenders register.I heard he may try and get that original sexual assault taken off his record as she stated firmly he didn't do that etc. We his pals and family were disgusted with him at first until it all came out,and now feel sorry for both of them really as it has fucked their lives up big time.
