So 7 spare players. 5 on the bench. 2 spare. 1 injury then you are already looking at youth players.
1 spare GK
1 spare LB
1 spare CB
1 spare RB
1 spare LM
1 spare CM
1 spare RM
0 spare striker
I can't see why you would sign anybody to play in the under 23's they could win every game this season and we won't get one league point for it
Not saying this chap is just a general comment

Under 23s is the reserve team. It's backup players. Successful teams at every level have players who can step in and do a job when needed. It is absolutely essential for success. Last year we didn't have this. The year before we did to a certain extent.
We need to sign suitable first team players first not waste early money on players to fill out
Let's not get carried away! Not enough goals in the team yet. He's kind of done that already. We pretty much have our first team and they are easily good enough to win the league. Maybe a little improvement here and there if possible but we certainly have a good enough first XI already in my opinion. Now need to improve the squad any way we can. Davey would likely be pushing for a starting spot on the basis he has started in league one before.

I like your optimism, but think your way off. On what basis do you think we are "Easily good enough to win the league" Goalkeeper isn't good enough. 2 injury prone left backs, little creativity and no natural goal scorer. I can't see any player getting more than 15 goals next season. That won't get us promoted never mind win the league.
I disagree. I don't see Jones doing well this year and Burge is simply not good enough. Biamou hasn't been brought in for creativity he's there for a physical presence. Admire your optimism but the team is far off being one that can win the league. Luton are far superior to us and will win the league imo.Of the 4 teams promoted last season only Doncaster had a player who scored over 15 goals. We have 3 league 2 standard goalkeepers, Stokes one of the best left backs in the division when fit. Don't rate Haynes but Robins obviously happy. Camwell a good 3rd choice. Would be good to improve there but not essential.
In terms of creativity, I think Jones will be big for us this year. Looked good in spells against Barnsley the other night. Biamou and Vincenti also brought in for creativity. Moorhouse seems a creative type and can cover out wide and up front if we sign him.
In terms of goals, McNulty probably best bet. He has scored in the past and Beavon will be a good foil for him. Ponticelli looked good the other night too - his movement is great - obviously only development this year though, can't rely on him. Would be nice to bring in another striker who can get goals. Robins I timed at the kit launch night he has someone in mind. Let's wait and see. Think the goals will be shared around a bit too, Biamou and Vincenti have been brought in to chip in.
The biggest things for me are the bite added to midfield that we've lacked for so long and the number of players added who have been promoted from this division in the past.
Back to the OP
Presumably the lad played against Southampton, but as it was behind closed doors we're unlikely to hear anything.
Anybody know anything different?
Thanks for thatWe lost 2-0. Saints played the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Charlie Austin, Shane Long and Maya Yoshida

Come on mate really. We're 3rd favourite because we are a big name. Jones shows bits here and there but his end product is abysmal. Luton have Vassel, Collins and Hylton who are all capable of scoring 20 goals. We still need a 20 goal striker to compete in my opinion, or a few 10 goal attacking midfielders. What in Jones' performance during preseason makes you think he's not up to it? He had a bad season last year in league one but he has the quality to destroy defenders in league Two. He looks better than last year and performed well when first brought in by Mowbray so has it in him.
Biamou is here for both physical presence and creativity. He's an attacking player and looked the other day like he can create chances. Time will tell.
Luton definitely not far superior but will be up there with us and probably Mansfield.
We are currently 3rd favourite, bookies aren't stupid, we've moved up over the course of preseason.

But I hope yours is right! Our opinions obviously differ, which is fine, will just have to wait and see.

Given what we paid for Jones and the hype he's been pretty poor. One dimensional abd needs a big improvement.
Trial over
Former Chelsea FC defender Alex Davey has failed to impress Coventry City.
The 22-year-old product of the Premier League champions left Stamford Bridge – where he had been part of the Blues’ development squad – this summer.
A centre-half by trade, Davey has had loan spells with Scunthorpe United and Peterborough United in League One and, more recently, Crawley Town in League Two last season.
Sky Blues boss Mark Robinsrevealed earlier in the week that the defender had joined the club for a trial, and he promptly played against a strong Southampton side in a behind-closed-doors match on Wednesday.
“He played in the game against Southampton and I decided not to pursue anything further,” said Robins, whose side lost 2-0 against the Saints.
“We wish him all the best, obviously, but he won’t be doing anything with us at the moment.”
Must have been poor in the game.
Southampton had Charlie Austin and Manolo Gabiadinni playing
Guess Robins had the perfect chance to see how he coped with being thrown in the deep end
Blimey your standard L2 attack! Poor kid!
Did Pearson play?
I hope so. Missed out on Andy Williams so he probably has someone else in mind. He best hurry up though! Is robins after another striker?

Sounds like it was almost done until their manager took a U-turn and decided to keep him.Andy Williams? That would have been just too good to be true.
Yes, at their training ground. Lost 2-0 with a side that seemed to be made up of players Robins doesn't consider first choice.Did we have a game behind closed doors v Southampton? Or was I overtaken by fumes?
I've just realised that was an old persons joke!Andy Williams? That would have been just too good to be true.
