season will have to finish one way or other its too far into the season to void it teams like Leicester currently in the CL spot will say they will lose out on x millions
Would open up a whole can of worms if they tried to void the season. Think of how many season tickets holders there are throughout the country. Some lawyer would take that on and claim refunds as the matches were meaningless. Clubs who were odds on for promotion would take legal action. Whole thing would be a mess.

IMO its either play the remaining games or call it now probably by working out points per game for the remaining games.

If its points per game then here's how the league finishes:

1 Coventry City
2 Rotherham United

3 Wycombe Wanderers
4 Oxford United
5 Portsmouth
6 Fleetwood Town

7 Peterborough United
8 Sunderland
9 Doncaster Rovers
10 Gillingham
11 Ipswich Town
12 Burton Albion
13 Blackpool
14 Bristol Rovers
15 Shrewsbury Town
16 Lincoln City
17 Accrington Stanley
18 Rochdale
19 MK Dons
20 AFC Wimbledon
21 Tranmere Rovers
22 Southend United
23 Bolton Wanderers
I'd prefer it if Sunderland stayed in 7th

I have my doubts if there will be a full champions league next season it means all Europe being back to normal, I’ve a feeling they will finish this season’s competition next season.

There is no point in ruining a season that is 75% of the way through to protect a season that not only is yet to start but also not guaranteed to not be impacted by the virus itself.

Exactly, for all we know this could be the norm for months to come.

Lots of options but it make sense and it is fair to finish this season off with 100% of games completed.

That may mean a compressed 2020/21 season or possibly even scrapping it altogether.

Appreciate the player and manager contracts may add to the convolution but its going to be like anyway.

The only saving grace for all this is aside from the Belarusian football league (who are still playing!), all European leagues, teams and staff are in the same position and so there can be blanket consistency through the leagues

Top marks for moving that mess of a thread.

We have to complete the season. not doing so make a complete mockery of the spirit of the competition.

What happened if it comes back next March and we don't have a vaccine yet, pull that season as well ?

There is zero chance of next season being cancelled

Just look at the path of least resistance i.e. the one that ends in as little legal action as possible. Games will be played and contracts extended. The only people genuinely calling for a voided season are armchair premier league wankers who have no concept of what that entails for the game as a whole and only want it to stop Liverpool winning the league.

Good move to make this thread, Nick. The other Conovirus thread has degenerated into a slanging match between a few people. A lot of good information is being lost in all the noise.

But I think it will have to be won't it, if we get a second and third wave of this thing and it is a lot more virulent.

Not a chance. Clubs also will not survive and many will disappear if revenue is reduced

Solutions regarding attendances will have to be worked out - the itemiser league would rather play in front of 25% full stadiums than lose fixtures

All championship clubs it’s alleged have met and even discussed a nuclear option of all going into administration on the same day

Could we possibly do an entire season behind closed doors?

We won’t have to - it’s impossible to restrict that long. I promise I’m not getting into political arguments here but the economy I’ll dictate a return. Italy have pretty much admitted unless they return to normal they are bankrupt and are threatening to break up the EU - something will have to give and people make choices to go or not

Yup, I do agree.

Be interesting to see how they would limit attendances. Haven't some clubs got massive ST takeups each season?

How many would be nervous about going into a ground once they open up again?

And was I the only one daydreaming about a hastily arranged, triumphant return to a full house Ricoh to watch the Championship title awarded... :)

I'd want to watch it, but I'd be very nervous about doing it unless the situation was much better.

That said, they could afford to spread us out.
