Certainly not my view but I think getting public support for a strike during a pandemic would be very tricky.

As you say this is something where Labour should be totally behind the teachers.
Kier is too busy chasing the Daily Mail readers, who would actually prefer teachers and kids to catch Cov-ID so it’s fair.

The situation in Greenwich is weird.

The local authority tried to close schools early before Christmas due to an increasing rate of infections. This resulted in the government threatening them with legal action and forcing them to stay open.

The government then shut schools early before Christmas due to an increasing rate of infections.

Couple of days ago a hospital under Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust declared a major incident and was turning people away.

On today’s list of London boroughs where the return to schools will be delayed Greenwich is nowhere to be seen. It has a higher rate of cases than areas that are on the list and the surrounding areas are on the list.

Make sense to anyone?
Labour run authority that were prepared to openly defy the Government. Sounds a ridiculous thing to say but is it that much of a stretch anymore? (Also notice how Labour backed the Government on this and not its own officials?)

If someone wants me going in to teach remotely and in school at the same time with deaths pushing 1,000 a day then perhaps so...

Who is going to turn around these huge numbers of extra regular tests in enough time for them to be meaningful? If it takes a day or two to get the result what’s the point?
These are the less accurate results in an hour or so tests

"The problem is not the schools the issue is the spread from the mixing of households that naturally takes place in schools"

That's a hell of a quote from Johnson, not sure he realises what he's said there. Empty school buildings are safe but schools with kids in aren't.

Slightly sobering, this.

Was just watching Europe's Strongest Man, when an In Memorium popped up at the end. Even in a pandemic, I didn't expect the cause to be Covid...

It feels a lot closer to home this time round. I know loads of people who have it. A friend’s parent has been rushed to hospital with severe symptoms and they’re an at risk person. I hope it fucks off soon.

My wife has to do the test every two days they give you a result like a pregnancy test so some of the older girls at senior school should be able to read them 😉. I think it’s get the bud shove up nose, then put into solution and the solution onto the tester. Wait half an hour for the result

Where did I say that? By all means have a different political opinion - doesn’t mean you have to endorse a racist, xenophobic rag as well.

Are there any figures available regarding the number of new variant vs. Old variant infections......surely there must be as the world has collectively shit its pants over it?

Anyone point me towards them?

Now Hancock has said that elderly patients due to have a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine will be cancelled in order to vaccinate more people. Seems risky but probably shows what a crisis moment we're in.

I assume somewhere, that it's confirmed it has no effect on immunity levels if people have to wait longer for their second dose?
