I have no idea why people would be booking holidays now anyway for this year, seems a bit crazy really.
I had a honeymoon booked last year for this summer but preparing to pull the plug on it barring a bumper vaccine rollout.
A lot of people, myself included, had to switch last years holiday to this year, otherwise I'd have lost all of my flight money. Well over a grand. Getting prepared to do the same this year.I have no idea why people would be booking holidays now anyway for this year, seems a bit crazy really.

Yeah but last year it was understandable for this year. It would be madness to book a holiday now for this summer with how things are.
True, that’s miles off the radar for me this year. We have a back up in the UK lined up and we’ll rebook going abroad for ‘22 most likely

Yeah, do the old mini moon and then long haul trip away end of year when things hopefully settled (loads do that with summer weddings anyway)
Maybe the Government could stipulate that anyone volunteerring to help with the vaccination program will receive the vaccine themselves as part of the programme, would safeguard against unnecessary disruption to the rollout programme, suppress the spread from another potential angle and may even act as another way of enticing people to volunteer.
Tbf, you don't want people refusing a vaccine to blacks and gays!Yeah, decent shout but reckon they’ll stick with oldies priority list (probably correct especially as new lockdown ‘should’ help reduce transmission)
Think they’ve got loads of volunteers to be fair (I applied the other day - don’t panic not administering, just offered to do some stewarding at centres !). Typical ridiculous form filling/online training has put off some volunteering to administer jab from what I’ve read - safeguarding kids (even though not administering to kids), some module on preventing radicalisation and another on equality and diversity !! FFS !

So garden centres are essential retail. People really can't live without artisan jam, old guys rule t-shirts and bird tables.

That's one of the exemptions.Went past a screwfix earlier and there was a fair few tradesmen's vans outside.
Very naive to think they aren't just doing jobs in people's houses anyway because they need the money.
Where it is necessary for you to work in other people’s homes - for example, for nannies, cleaners or tradespeople - you can do so

AbsolutelyAnd let’s honest, a lot of the customers are the people we’re trying to most/best protect !! If I heard my mum was ‘popping down to the local garden centre for a little browse’ I’d go mental !

Ah that makes sense then.
Still, it gives people a perfect loophole to go round their mates.
tbf if my boiler / washing machine etc breaks, I'll have no choice. Ditto if the roof falls in!Went past a screwfix earlier and there was a fair few tradesmen's vans outside.

In the first lockdown, I'd been doing my elderly parents weekly shop for a fair few weeks and one day my dad asked if I could get hold of any compost for them. He said they'd been round all the garden centres and couldn't find any...And let’s honest, a lot of the customers are the people we’re trying to most/best protect !! Low risk people are told to keep exercise to once a day, yet you could be older and mooch around all the garden centres in the area.In the first lockdown, I'd been doing my elderly parents weekly shop for a fair few weeks and one day my dad asked if I could get hold of any compost for them. Seems fair enough bar the last couple potentially but calling that red tapeHaha, fair point ! not sure it needs Online training for all though. ‘Are you a racist/homophobe’ tick box might suffice !

Had the same, was doing shopping, collecting medication etc for them and then I'd get my Mum saying she'd popped to M&S but it was fine as its safe there! Took weeks to drill it into them.In the first lockdown, I'd been doing my elderly parents weekly shop for a fair few weeks and one day my dad asked if I could get hold of any compost for them. Just popped over on my jet-ski to plug her leak!Or a bird....’just fixing her back doors’
Some old people are terrible, if they keep supermarkets open they should probably ban old people and give them priority on delivery slots.
They are fucking lethal and they are the ones most at risk.
We’ve been looking at booking something for early September, with all the doom and gloom I feel it may just give us something to look forward to ‘a light at the end of the tunnel.I have no idea why people would be booking holidays now anyway for this year, seems a bit crazy really.
Yeah I saw that. Tbh those are all standard NHS employee elearning modules. Nobody seems to be able to proportionate anything!
I don't know what it is about bog roll that makes it such a prime candidate for panic buying.
The thing is there was never really a shortage of it, amazon were shipping trailers full of it around Europe but mainly to Germany.
