Seems like itSo are we saying longer lockdown, tighter restrictions on the basis it’s easier to spread too?
They're just going through it now
Vallance just backtracked on it thereHaving had a look at some figures and others views it appears.
10/1000 60 year old - mortality rate
13-14/1000 60 year olds - mortality rate *new*
So an increase in mortality from 1% to 1.3% or 1.4%.
But I bet the headlines tomorrow will be 40% increase
"Get the levels down so it doesnt take off again"
They really are thick as fuck, they had people going to football matches in London and then on the train FFS. It was no surprise to anybody it "took off".
Does the mortality rate for non-covid respitory deaths go up in the winter?
Have that got data that compares mortality for recent weeks between those with the existing variant and those with the new variant?
Apparently the data provided from hospital's does not support thisDoes the mortality rate for non-covid respitory deaths go up in the winter?
Have that got data that compares mortality for recent weeks between those with the existing variant and those with the new variant?
Vallance just backtracked on it there
We're at the point where we're going to have to wait for those 9 groups to get two jabs
Did Nervetag interpret the data inspite of it?yeah vallance did say hospital data shows mortality is the same but other data may indicate a slightly higher mortality rate
not as trailed by Boris
2023
If you it ends up only 30% effective it's going to fool many people into dropping their guard.Getting up to 400k jabs a day, live in hope
We cant unlock to go out but people can still fly abroad on holiday.....
If you it ends up only 30% effective it's going to fool many people into dropping their guard.
It's going to take month's to determine the efficacy and that will have to be outside of lockdown.
Anyone booking holidays now is plain daft
Not if you book in Cornwall that’s sensibleAnyone booking holidays now is plain daft
You may get an increase just from the fact the system has become overwhelmed I guess, but to reiterate the data from hospital's hasn't suggested this .Does the mortality rate for non-covid respitory deaths go up in the winter?
Have that got data that compares mortality for recent weeks between those with the existing variant and those with the new variant?
Two jabs needed before any conclusions can be made
Let's see how it goes weeks after enough people have had two jabs. People have to wait for good data rather than demand unreliable data quicklythis is the issue with their messaging, people think you get the full wack straight off the bat
also the headlines are painting the picture the new variant is super deadly as boris fucked the press conference
Not if you book in Cornwall that’s sensible

They've got data on 8% of deaths only to make that determination, dreadful fear mongeringThis isn't very clear at all, and then they wonder why people don't understand the information they are given!
Johnson comes out and says the new variant is linked to higher mortality followed by Vallance saying the data they have from hospitals is that the mortality is the same. There is other unspecified uncertain data that indicates it may increase mortality 3 to 4 per 1,000. Surely that's the sort of thing you check and ensure is correct before the PM starts a press conference with it.
Sorry to hear that , dreadful situation .Update for anyone interested, Day 4 of experiencing symptoms and today I thought I was starting to improve slightly. However, after taking my daughter for a few laps round the garden to try and get her some fresh air/tire her out, I’m shattered and feeling as shit as I did yesterday. My partner is feeling a lot better though and she’s about 3/4 days ahead of me, so hopefully the worst is nearly over.
The kids have got some sort of virus; temperatures, coughing, runny nose and generally napping for longer (not moaning about that one). No idea if that’s a separate virus or some form of mild covid. I’m sure someone who is more read will have a view.
Feeling slightly guilty, after moaning about my Partners Dad being the one to give us Covid (which remains true), he’s been taken to hospital via ambulance this afternoon as he’s struggling to breath.
