They were once setup to not make it not too obvious and to give the oinks a few crumbs from the table to keep them happy.
That pretence has long gone

This really is a heavy read:India is a basket case. Thought when they let 50000 into the cricket they were taking a massive risk

‘The system has collapsed’: India’s descent into Covid hell
Many falsely believed that the country had defeated Covid. Now hospitals are running out of oxygen and bodies are stacking up in morgueswww.theguardian.com
No better than looters at a riot, no actually these are far far worse.
Not to contradict your point but think it's worth understanding the difference in demographics, India has a much younger population than the west (median are 26 compared with 40 in the UK), it will mean that more young people are affected cos there are more young people. Only 6% of ppn over 65 compared with 18% here.A terrible read. I see this is affecting under 40s quite badly - as the UK have not vaccinated most under 40's why are we pissing about allowing travel from India until Friday? Travel should have been blocked immediately on Monday when it was announced that India would be put on the travel ban list. Have we not learned a damn thing over the past 15 months?

Me and the Missus backpacked around India for three months and it is ridiculous how densely populated it is.Good point Fernando. Also some ridiculously highly densely populated, poor areas. It’s been frightening and very sad to see
Think my main concern in the medium term is that we still seem to be slack on border controls and quarantine. Look how slow we've been in reacting to the issues in India. Couple that with track and trace still not being as good as it should be it leaves the window open for variants getting in and then spreading.I can’t see the NHS getting overwhelmed again without a new strain appearing. Seriously doubt we’ll have lockdown in August.
replied to shmmeee's post in the season ticket thread but decided to delete it and move it here as its in danger of becoming a second covid thread!

There was an article on the BBC website about people trying to get back from India. Considering non-essential travel isn't supposed to be happening pretty much everyone they spoke to shouldn't have been travelling there in the first place. That's the sort of thing we need to get sorted.
Not sure and not entirely but religious festival?Fuck me just seen how bad it is in India
What the hell happened to kick it off that bad?

Their numbers were right down to the point that they started easily restrictions. There was crowds back at the India v England cricket and then not long later numbers were through the roof and everything was back in lockdown. Not sure and not entirely but religious festival?
New variant?
Where are they in the vaccine stats? Anyone know a percentage?
Echo chambers and nothing better to do with their time.I see there was another mentalist convention in London yesterday. Are they just not watching the scenes in India? There was some proper Qanon placards flying around.

They’re complaining on one hand that MSM and specifically the BBC didn’t report it and then on the other are directing some absolutely horrendous abuse at the BBC reporter who covered it and disputing the numbers that MSM reported as being present at the demo. They abused members of the public who were shopping on Oxford St while wearing face masks, attacked the police etc. Utter morons and on so many levels.Thick twats.
Haven’t seen that. Disgusting. These idiots are just morally bankrupt.Wearing yellow stars. Fucking disgusting.
As bad as the last year has been to try compare it to the holocaust is shameful.
I hope as a country we have bottomed out on these disgusting actions.Haven’t seen that. Disgusting. These idiots are just morally bankrupt.
Just looked it up. Apparently some were shouting at people wearing masks calling them Nazis.Wearing yellow stars. Fucking disgusting.

I denounce the protest yesterday , like I've denounced all the protests during this pandemic.
It's utterly ridiculous
However I feel we are only 1 more lockdown off absolute carnage over here , which makes the protests even more annoying
Do you feel the vaçcine may not achieve its goal?I denounce the protest yesterday , like I've denounced all the protests during this pandemic.

A lot of the people on this rally are also anti the vaccine. They’re part of the problem in every way and in no part part of the solution.People really just need to hold their nerve for another few months, get their jabs when offered and that ought to be enough. I for one am desperate to get offered the vaccine so it’s infuriating seeing some in care homes still turn it down after 5 months
Do you feel the vaçcine may not achieve its goal?
While I'm not against people making their points via marches/vigils/protests,and would naturally be more biased to some than others I think it's not surprising they've occured during a time such as this .
I would dearly love to know whether children will be offered to be vaccinated , or whether that would be taken up?A lot of the people on this rally are also anti the vaccine. They’re part of the problem in every way and in no part part of the solution.
