Procurement is where the government involvement stopped. I credit scientists, not politicians, with developing it and putting in the hard work to get it to market. After that point full credit should go to the JCVI and NHS for the strategy going into 2021 and physically implementing all the jabs.
Credit for doing as they were told is laughable
many on here (and elsewhere) raised issues with government following that advice and wanted a different strategy. As I say, if the roll out had fucked up would people be blaming the NHS/JVCI ?! Of course they wouldn’t, and nor should they. The government made the final decisions
You will find we made that choice as infections were spiralling and we were hitting 1,000 plus deaths a day. We had to do it that way to try and get some protection to more people. We would not have done it if Boris had done his job in the first place.
Do we acknowledge Blair or Hancock for the strategy on innoculating the elderly first, think the JCVI were looking at a different strategy up to that point?many on here (and elsewhere) raised issues with government following that advice and wanted a different strategy. As I say, if the roll out had fucked up would people be blaming the NHS/JVCI ?! Of course they wouldn’t, and nor should they. The government made the final decisions
So if scientific advice now is to remain in lockdown untii all adults have 2 jabs youd demand this is what the government should do?
Have they not said just this week that vaccination has already prevented 12000 death's?
Can't help but think step 4 will be delayed I'm afraid .
Hancock doesn't exactly sound upbeat
Fucking tragic
Those sitting comfortably comparing Boris to a mass murderer for letting people go to a restaurant will be delighted
Obviously, fucking blurts
Estimated that 10% of UK restaurants have closed down now, other hospitality will be in a similar state. I cannot believe I am finding myself hoping against hope that Boris Johnson sticks to his guns
I agree mate
The media thrive off negativity
Sophie ridge now talking to Hancock, they are talking numbers like 1200 cases of the Indian variant .
Hancock is saying its more transmissible but the vaccine shows evidence of working effectively against it .
Now putting across spin words like , careful, a race against the strain , hopeful .
It's all very fucking depressing with a touch of logic thrown in
I've had enough of it all now tbh
That would be a real shameSaw earlier that Coombe Abbey was only granted a final loan on the assumption that it would be able to get hotel guests in for late May onwards. We push things back further and it'll go to the wall.
Hoping to get a vaccine message soon .
I wonder if the next lot will be 37 to 37 and a half because as its getting closer to me the age range gets fucking smaller
Hancock said it'll be 35+ from next week. I hope 30+ is not long after
Il drink it I'm that desperate to fucking get it done
Reading the SAGE reports I think the media are overstating what they are suggesting. Can't help but think step 4 will be delayed I'm afraid .
Sorry Steve, but regardless of how nuanced decisions are, we have time and again made decisions too late. India were only 100,000 per day on April 4th, we waiting until the 23rd April days before adding them to the red list. Pakistan and Bangladesh were both added to the red list on the 9th April, both have large populations living in the UK.Sums up O’Brien, he’s a prick....probably mentions brexit somewhere as well ?
There is no doubt if youre being cautious you stop flights from India earlier, I personally would have. However, this is also not binary....we live in country that has a high Indian population. Even now all Heathrow red list hotels are full and they’re moving people to Gatwick hotels. So, basically we would’ve been saying stay in India where everyone’s getting covid and hospitals are overflowing ?
Ps a quote I’ve heard today about a majority of the Bolton hospital Covid inpatients are that they are between 35-65 and ‘have not received a vaccination dose but many are eligible’. WTF are you supposed to do about that ?!

At the time India had twice the infection rate of Bangladesh q and nfection rate of Pakistan.

Surely they can have them in from tomorrow?Saw earlier that Coombe Abbey was only granted a final loan on the assumption that it would be able to get hotel guests in for late May onwards. We push things back further and it'll go to the wall.
Any views on the tens of thousands that have died from the Tories repeatedly making the same mistakes? Or are deaths only important when it’s an opportunity to bash the EU?We also did not participate in the failed EU procurement programme and went alone on tbe 12 week gap which has been a game changer.
Those decisions have put us miles ahead of europe and have saved many many lives have they not? And lets be honest if they had banned india flights earlier but the procurement strategy failed along with the 12 week gap youd be slaughtering them
Hancock said more testing so Pakistan and Bangladesh more dangerous on 9th April. Sounded like absolute bolloxSorry Steve, but regardless of how nuanced decisions are, we have time and again made decisions too late. I think it is bollox mate.
They whole banning flights thing has been something the government have been totally useless at on a consistent basis.
I remember in May/June last year we were still having 10+ flights coming in from China each day. It makes it even more of a mockery that there was no system in place, so those passengers could just freely walk into society. Meanwhile, we were all locked down and unable to go anywhere or do anything.
I know people who have had relatives sod off to Pakistan for 3 months and come back willy nilly too, with no respect for the rules. It is frustrating when chunks of those communities won't take the vaccine either. Bolton being a good example. Also generally anyone that cannot follow basic rules pisses me off. Everyone has to be on the same page.
