Well I think we know I've not been a fan of nudge nudge psychology over decisive instruction, but that's to do with the generation I come from .
We only need to look at the confusion on travel corridors last week to see what vague advice brings.
Familiar scare tactic to when Johnson came out and said the Kent variant was more deadly.
Wait until he realises that the man in charge was a shithouse journo of the highest order. Tiny mind will be blown.
Do we take from this that the Kent variant was around 30% more transissable not 70% as implied initially or that the response just needed to be quicker to respond and quell the rise,so the rules were really the same.Familiar scare tactic to when Johnson came out and said the Kent variant was more deadly.

Well it's subjective isn't it.
Wasn't there an article about scientists and government admitting to inducing fear to persuade behaviours?
Decided to click on an anti vaxxers profile on twitter and have a read through , full of peoples opinions being retweeted etc.
It's crazy tbh I never realised just how many people were so against this.
The best one was a bbc article about a vaccine centre that had graffiti on it with the words depopulation centre or something like that .
Got me thinking , who would be the babysitters in a world with no 18 plus year olds

Fair enough, it isn't so black and white. My bad.
here's what sage actually said links to the papers are in the thread
Not disputing that it may be more transmissible. I think it would be useful to see how many cases are from a single household in Bolton / Blackburn, I'd suspect a lot. I notice that Sefton got on top of its outbreak.

I’d hope the lesson we’ve learned here is don’t take your science advice from tabloid journalists. Science reporting has always been terrible.
It isn't doomsday yet though so still hopeful
Just seen 71% of adults have received their first dose ...that's great news
37.5 million
Ridiculously impressive from Boris and the team. Imagine Labour were in charge we’d still be locked down

Its a weird filtering process. SAGE report based on science, the press then pick out a small part of the report that will generate the most clicks. People then pick out a small part of the news reports and amplify on social media. Then it gets thrown back as 'proof' SAGE were wrong despite their reports being publicly available for anyone to see.So many are scientifically illiterate, they shouldn’t be allowed to comment.

Of course some people are going to be scared going back to normal. Weve had a 130k deaths from a disease which still out there.
Hopefully its now at a point where its manageable but I can see why some people are still worried.
It took a few horror stories of 30 somethings in ICU in Bolton to instigate an increase in vaccine take up.
Yeah as well as the media ramming it down people's throats 24/7 that the world is going to end.
How many people die every day from cancer alone? Maybe we should just give up life now in case we get cancer one day?
It really is no way to live.
