He did seem to think all he had to was get a brexit vote passed parliament and he could sake off into the history books. This is what annoys me the most. Just comes across as total laziness and disregard for the situation.
Saying he doesn't want to answer many questions 'because we've done 4 or 5 of these' (we haven't, we've done 3) and then asking the journalists if we even need to do them. I mean FFS, you're the Prime Minister and you're suggesting you don't need to address the public during a global health crisis. Do your fucking job.
Oh and calling an emergency COBRA meeting… for 3 days time so that it disn't spoil his weekend.
I think the problem is he's dreamed of becoming PM his whole life, it's been his life long ambition to emulate his hero Churchill and lead the country. Finally he gets the chance, and even better he gets the chance to 'get Brexit done' and make a name for himself, which is what it's all about for him. Maybe get a bridge named after him or something.
But not this. This is not what he signed up for. Now he's completely in the shit, doesn't know what to do, and is being exposed as a total fraud.
He did seem to think all he had to was get a brexit vote passed parliament and he could sake off into the history books.
He's just not got what takes and sadly neither do most of his cabinet. The chancellor make be well spoken but he's a former banker who appears to not grasp that the demand side of the economy is as if not more important than propping up business, what good is a business if once this us all over no one has any money to spend.
Yeah this really isn’t the gig Johnson signed up for. If it wasn’t an on-going disaster it would be funny to watch. Last nights press conference was a joke. At least up until then he’d been trying.

what I don't understand is why he thinks we can get on top of this in 12 weeks?
It took China that and they were far more proactive and draconian that we have been so far.
From listening to the experts clarify that in think 12 weeks when they hope that new cases will go down. New cars are about to start shooting up though as they are about start running many more tests and have a new test that is quickerwhat I don't understand is why he thinks we can get on top of this in 12 weeks?

Maybe we just need to believe in ourselves more? “Let’s get Coronavirus gone” that should do it.
In time this will become very political Boris and pals belatedly realised this a few days ago and suddenly, thankfully changed course and threw billions at it and billions more today. But their cover is blown when this issue eases the fall out will go on for years. Ten years of Tory cut backs and austerity, neglect of the NHS will haunt this Government for years. The “key” workers of today will be the power of tomorrow more than anything Corbyn and crew dreamt of.
Many if not most of today’s key workers are amongst the lowest paid in our society some not having rises in pay for years, poor employment rights, no social housing, high rents, including many MP landlords, all this is going to be a huge albatross around our governments neck. It won’t take much to organise these key workers into a massively powerful group.

I don't know if it's what you are referring to, or if that was just meant to be satire - but he genuinely did say that last night.
Just unbelievable.
Realistically he's stated that to buy time and reduce panic. When pressed on how he thought the country would be able to get on top of it by a journalist in such a relatively short time period he deflected the question completely, reiterated soundbites and then just tried to shove it off to Vallance.
As I keep reiterating do we know that China has got on top of it? At the minute they're in a PR war with the entire globe and their propaganda machine is currently at its peak. I really wouldn't use them as a case study at the minute unless an independent source confirms the numbers that are reported.
Oh. No I was joking. Was at work and only heard half of it.

Who reckons Boris hasn’t read the Imperial paper? Anyone who has wouldn’t be able to say it’ll all be over in 12 weeks.
Yep, he was asked what 'turning the tide' actually means and couldn't answer, then admitted government measures haven't had any impact yet and has no idea how long it will take.
So I think he just plucked the 12 weeks line out of thin air.
In front of the entire country.
Isn't that part of the problem? Same people at Imperial have been advising since the beginning but have backtracked themselves on methodology and best courses of action?Who reckons Boris hasn’t read the Imperial paper? Anyone who has wouldn’t be able to say it’ll all be over in 12 weeks.
The CMO and CSA also both refer to 12 weeks. They say this when they expect the number of new cases to start to drop.Yep, he was asked what 'turning the tide' actually means and couldn't answer, then admitted government measures haven't had any impact yet and has no idea how long it will take.

Some people need to take a look at themselves on this thread, constantly slagging the government/Boris off when nobody on the planet could have predicted we'd have to deal with this crisis.... get behind the country you pricks instead of trying to score pathetic points

Here is! Is your Boris poster on your wall or your bedroom ceiling?
It's not a case of us not getting behind the country, we all are. We'd just like a leader with a bit of backbone, who doesn't get bored and fed up with addressing the country during a global pandemic after just 3 15min press conferences.

well according to the WHO they have.
If they haven't that's even more worrying because I think it's widely accepted they used fairy draconian distancing measures so if they haven't worked then surely we're fucked as we don't seem to be taking that anywhere near as seriously?
What are you waffling on about, every single day he addresses the nation and answers all the questions and updates us? What else is he meant to fucking say
Where to start. Lots of people have been predicting exactly this for years, so there’s that. Nobody is blaming him for the virus, it’s the response he’s in charge of and lots of people think he’s making a bit of a hash of it. It really is a political thing Dom, and not agreeing with the Prime Minister is not the same thing as ‘not getting behind the country’. Stop repeating Brexit soundbites, this is different. Believing in the NHS won’t suddenly magic up extra capacity. Some people need to take a look at themselves on this thread, constantly slagging the government/Boris off when nobody on the planet could have predicted we'd have to deal with this crisis.... get behind the country you pricks instead of trying to score pathetic points, we all need to be together to beat this

he really doesn't. He's distracted, waffles, and has failed to take bold decisions.
Surely even you can see that?
