If there is a 90% death rate I don't think wearing a crumpled face mask in Tesco will save you
Some worrying numbers coming out of Israel.
They all wear tights?I saw that Richard Ashcroft has now joined Ian Brown and Right Said Fred (!) in the denier camp
What’s that Clint? Some worrying numbers coming out of Israel.
What’s that Clint?
They've revised the Pfizer efficacy down by a third, haven't they?
They’ve just reintroduced compulsory mask wearing in indoor situations as cases are rising fast. Just as we’re dropping ours and they’re way ahead of us in vaccinations as a percentage of population. Still, Boris lad knows best. There’s also Israeli studies that show the Pfizer vaccine to be less effective than other vaccines against the delta variant. What’s that Clint?

The don't really control the mutations though
Javid says we’re looking at 100,000 cases per day this summer. If you’re under the age of 40, it appears there’s a good chance you’ll be getting immunity from COVID itself rather than the vaccine.
That did make me smile to be fair. I’ve said before hospitalisations have been amended down once, possibly twice recently, which is good. I accept models are always based on imperfect data but ultimately saying they were wrong due to incorrect assumptions isn’t too bad is it ?!
I could also flip it the other way with everyone saying we should follow the scientific advice and when the government do, people still complain.
So much of this is calculated guesswork as there’s so many variables (not least guessing people’s behaviours !), hence the range of models
The last thing we need is a mask war to be honest.
If people want to wear one then that is absolutely fine, equally if others don't then that is also fine.
Cannot see it playing out like that though.
Might be me but i reckon we're going to see far more intimidation of people choosing to wear masks from a minority of denier knobheads than the other way round but we shall see.
Of course it'd be great if everyone just let everyone else make their own choice and left it at that but we all know that's not going to happen. Far too much "everyone must think what I think" these days,

You think people who aren't wearing masks will be more confrontal to those wearing them, than people who are wearing them towards those who aren't?
Interesting take, but either way, I hope people will respect each others wishes.
And we’re off
Put your mask on please.
Under 40's can get the vaccine though can't they?
They've revised the Pfizer efficacy down by a third, haven't they?
Yup.Against the Delta variant?
Yup.
Pfizer vaccine efficacy drops in Israel as delta variant spreads
Health authorities in Israel will consider whether to recommend a third booster shotwww.telegraph.co.uk
tbf, I think that puts it alongside the Oxford one, rather than being worse.
Yeah, and of course 94% efficacy would have crushed the thing right down, if most of the young'uns got that one, as there wouldn't have been a virus to spread, to risk breaking through to those where it manages to evade the vaccine protection.Yeah and at around the level that the yearly flu jab is. It still seems to be doing a great job against deaths etc but if we keep letting cases rise things will always increase
57% fully vax so if course fully vax people will be represented in cases
They were acting like idiots, but really. No one would get charged for that if the victim was just an average citizen. The estate agent has lost his job too.Who’d have thought?
Prof Chris Whitty: Second man charged with common assault

The cost of taking that to court, should have been restorative justice. A full apology and warning.

The 'logic' is they restrict airflow, and you start breathing your own breath back in - i.e. carbon dioxide etc.
According to what I've heard about the air quality and toxins on there it'd be best to do so for your own health regardless
Somewhere between that and 200 I'd think.28773
37 deaths
Would 100000 lead to 150 or more?
Let’s see what happens. Happy to trust chief medical officer
This is an interesting thread on removing restrictions
Chris Whitty has it right, in my view (maybe unsurprisingly)I just welcome the freedom to manage the situation myself. Mask on the train and in busy shops? Probably. Sitting in a quiet cafe putting it on to walk in and out and removing it to drink my tea, errr no
