Anyway, good to see that case numbers and now hospitalisations appear to be on the decline, if the UK winter wave has topped out now you have to say that the advisors (who released restrictions to avoid a mid-winter peak) have got it spot on. Let's hope that's true,

I've just tested positive.

Woke up Sunday with a bit of a tickly cough but usually do after a heavy weekend and it continued into Monday when I was also a bit headachey but again I'd been on the lash Thursday, Friday and Saturday so just felt like I was getting over the weekend.

Went for a PCR test Tuesday as I have the inlaws living with us for a bit (probably wouldn't have gone otherwise) and then woke up this morning and it had basically broken out into a cold with snotty nose, sneezing etc. so definitely though I just had the cold that is going around but nope turns out I am positive.

Cheers lads but literally it just feels like a mild head cold.

I'm still working, well posting on here, just isolating till Tuesday in my bedroom so have full control of the remote, just need to message when I need something to drink or eat (I did ask if I needed a bell to ring but didn't go down too well) so it's like a mini holiday.

Not down playing the virus in anyway just doesn't seem like I have been effected that bad so hopefully shows the vaccine is doing its job.

Missus and her parents just done tests as well and they're all negative so, touch wood, everything is ok.

Does anybody have any covid denier friends or people they know?

I have one friend who is a huge denier and regurgitates theories from an attempt to implement communism globally to biological manipulation. Another person I knew from school just straight up saying it’s a hoax, taking the piss out of people wearing masks etc and making loads of angry videos.

What the fuck is up with these people? Are they just scared of needles?
Genuine question, does anyone have any theories?

No, but it depends on what your definition is on covid denier and anti-vaxxer, however.

I get that feeling that anyone who is remotely skeptical of government policy, or vaccine mandates gets thrown into a category with the moonbats a bit too easily, and as I have said before, it is similar to moderate brexiteers getting thrown in the bin with the racists back in 2016. I have been labelled as a conspiracy theorist, despite pointing out things like the below would happen, which is now becoming reality. I do however, see the positive side of the vaccine (but not in all age cases), and understand previously why some restrictions have been put in place to keep people safe. My biggest issue is how we go forwards from here.

Sorry, what now?

We’re going to ban over 65’s from public spaces. Really?

I´m not really sure what you expected Tony. This is the reality of what will happen. That is why I hate this culture we have going on at the moment and the segregation that is being pushed by the government, and the media for that matter. It is never going to end the way it is going.

Have you been vaccinated? I am getting a vibe you haven't

Travelled to and from Leeds last couple of days. Good job we have vaccines and treatments cause no one doing social distancing and very few wearing masks. It’s no wonder the transmission rates are so high and over a 1000 are dying weekly

Power and control, fear of the unknown. It's harder to let others have control, which is actually what happens when you allow somebody else to inject you with something, trust the people who've come up with it, and the people administering it.

There's more control in not having the vaccine, as that's exclusively your decision. You're then also not granting power over you to somebody else. That ends up articulating itself as a conspiracy.
You've got to feel sorry for them I suppose. This is pretty much my amateur theory on it too. Something about retaining some control/grasping to the notion that you know better than the experts.

I don't even think it comes down, on a psychological level, to thinking you know better. I think it's basically fear of losing control, and the best way to keep it is reject said knowledge.

A couple of the links I posted did, however, suggest it's a lack of capacity to process medical information that also contributes to it - the ability to misinterpret the information, draw wrong conclusions etc... and that's played on by certain anti-vaxxers of course, to try and pull the vulnerable to their 'side' as it were.

Not yet had the privilege of having my prostate checked

I’ve had two vaccinations for Covid but no booster or flu jab yet.
No problem really
I had my prostate checked during peek Covid... but because of bloody Covid the notes got lost somewhere, so I had to have it checked again a couple of months back. Fun times.

Did anybody really social distance anyway properly? Plus why should they when you see people squeezed in like sardines in the house of Commons & at football matches etc? Time to move on from the old social distancing guff surely

I was expecting those who have refused any vaccinations to be inconvenienced by their decision before any age group who’ve had at least some vaccines.

When was the last time you had your prostate checked?

Whether or not I have had one, two, three, or zero vaccines is absolutely none of your business.

So you haven’t. I have had two and will have a booster as I don’t want to be responsible for other people dying

Why won’t you answer when I will?

I’ve never had my prostate checked but I have had checks for a form of skin cancer which is negative and I’ve got my first flu jab next week

So vaxxed or not?

Earlier this year. PSA blood test are really simple. Had my first this year to put a marker in the sand for all subsequent PSA tests I have. Pleased to report all healthy, I have a prostate that defies my years.

tbh, I try and keep my wife two metres away from me if possible, let alone strangers. I don't understand who wants to be stuffed up somebody's armpit!

Worth doing Pete. I had my PSA levels checked by this charity

They were running an event in my hometown earlier this year so I signed up. In and out in a couple of minutes, just took some blood.

It’s also my business if someone sitting next to me in a concert hasn’t been vaccinated as I well wouldn’t want such an ignorant moron in the building with me

Its a bit rich pretending to be concerned for other people when it sounds like you haven't been vaccinated and you don't wear a mask.

I feel the same way - what's the point too if you can still contract the ol kung flu? How many more jabs do we need? We'll all become pin cushions

Well if potentially dying is the better option for you than an injection then its your call I guess

Well, at some stage it either weakens, medicines develop (they are with the antivirals as we speak) and / or people build up enough immunity through vaccines etc.

And tbf over 50s are encouraged to have an annual flu jab, and it is available for others too. Bear in mind although flu can be transmitted quite well, there are also benign forms to allow people to gain some natural immunity, and it'll be less transmissable than an airborne virus anyway. When we get to the stage of Covid having the same impact as flu once we employ the same measures... that's when things relax a little wrt jabs etc, really.
