0 to 50 isn’t surging ffs

Hardly surging, 50 odd cases

Few days later and now into the hundreds and lockdown reintroduced. China has called it 'very severe'.

And this in a place that had practically no cases/deaths (or at least recorded ones - it is China after all) for quite some time.

Still think it's a great idea to open up when we've got cases in four figures and deaths in the hundreds? Don't think it's got the chance to re-emerge and it's just going away?

Best bit was it was not me but China who was talking about their cases surging.

This pandemic is a great study in confirmation bias.

Pingu’s opening question to Johnson was right on the money. Starmer didn’t look great constantly avoiding an answer on schools.

You need to get outside more, weird quoting me all day on this

Quoting you all day? You making up things now Dum? Please show me where I spend all day quoting you?

Also it's an internet forum, you quote people when you reply to them. Do we need to arrange some clait lessons for you?

Need to go out more? Billy no-mates projecting again?

but when Starmer questioned Johnson on child poverty Johson started going off on one about kids returning to school. I think Johnson looks more and more out of his depth by the day.

1 question and Johnson blew it by deciding to try a half baked "unions" "zinger".

Once again he wiffled and piffled and failed miserably.

I think it will look differently to most people who watched it. Still I’m glad that he has agreed that teachers should be providing catch up work over summer. Wonder what that tool Williamson will announce next week.

Exactly the only reason schools was brought up was Johnson replied to a question about the 600k kids who have dropped in to poverty since 2012 with a reply about schools. It's almost as if they had decided on a "zinger" and when Starmer didn't ask a question he could use it on he just used it anyway.

I agree, but I think most non political junkies will see Starmer looking a bit hesitant and Johnson going on the offense.

nah, it's 30 seconds in half an hour of bluster and denying there's kids living below the poverty line

How the "going on the offensive" is him not answering a question? Anyone who watched it will see Johnson not being able to answer a question once again.

I didn't see it as Starmer's question to answer. He should and could have turned it back on the PM though and come out with a big win. I guess that is what you are maybe inferring?

Pretty much yeah.

That’s what he’s actually doing but in making jokes and waving his arms around it gives a perception of confidence even if he’s talking nonsense.

Not really working at the moment as people are listening to what he says. He may get better if the ever open up the house fully but until then he waves his arms and the optics are bad. No answer and silence

Does Johnson do any prep for PMQs? Certainly doesn't seem like it. Not like the questions are unexpected.

Did laugh at the speaker accidentally addressing Starmer as Prime Minister.

And this from Hancock

He got a round of laughs in the house and from the Speaker. I think it will keep his base support on side as it’s an illusion of strength. As much as I hate people needing the ‘zingers’ for media clips Starmer does need to keep it in mind

Johnsons not saying anything coherent or of substance but yeah, there are people who will fall for it.
Like when he was trying to defend the governments record on child poverty by bigging up their handling of the economy during the crisis, all he said was they had done more than any government in the world to protect the economy but he didn't even throw out a few stats like we've spent x amount on the furlough scheme, x amount on the self employed assistance scheme because you just know he's been to fucking lazy to maintain that information.

I've said it before but it's as plain as day that he wants to be called PM but he doesn't actually want to do the job. He's a bone idle fuck.

It's the presentation that has the biggest effect on a lot of people. I think there's a big correlation between personality and more politics being available on TV. Of course it's a good thing that the public can see what's going on rather than it being secretive behind-closed-doors but it has led to more of an emphasis on the individual than what is actually being said.

As I've said before take the likes of Johnson and Trump, take away the gesticulations, appearance and inflections/accent etc so you're just left with the words and it sounds like a small child babbling away.

Do the schools have any idea how much work is actually being done by pupils? Its great that the move to remote teaching was done so quickly and that work can be provided for over the summer but are the kids actually paying attention? The memorial is rammed full of large groups of kids every day which makes me wonder.

On Teams I can set assignments to classes and also keep track of who is turning up to remote lessons, so it’s easy to keep on top of that. Though chasing for work is less straightforward.

It's obvious that the archaic set up of HOP suit the baying partisan cheerleading approach.
One thing that has become absolutely evident through the remote /reduced attendance, and observations of the Scottish Parliament recently is the executive approach .
Becomes much less about physical 'performance' and completely about the content quality and accuracy of the answers.

Hence why they don't like it and want to get 'back to normal'. Don't want these pesky people actually being able to hold us to account rather than it just being a circus full of clowns.

We have set up Parliament to let people shout at each other. Holyrood is set up for more of a round table discussion though the bitching does still happen.

That's a very good point. Having one side looking directly at the opposition encourages this behaviour. Time for a complete redesign of the chamber. Wonder if there's a way you could set it up so you had different political allegiances next to each other? Like at school stopping the naughty kids sitting together at the back causing trouble.

All face teacher rather than adversarial

Like church pews .

Clearly Boris appeared stronger today but I think Keir stood up well , even ad libbing off script successfully and well able to defend .
Boris definitely on the rise from previous poor showings .
So optically a good day for him

I’m happy to do a seating plan but it’s hard when nobody wants to sit next to Hancock, Gove or Johnson.

When David Cameron did a ‘behind the scenes’ thing for the Sun it was pretty clear that while a knob, he took the job seriously and prepared properly for PMQs, interviews and so on. Plus he had more of a brain.

Says a lot that I wish he was back!
