If a scientific approach is there, it's there for a reason. We do, actually, have a world leading reputation in this kind of thing, and it's partly because our processes are defined and we don't rush things forward, we wait until we're sure. But I don’t get how combining the stages to try and end a world pandemic as early as possible could be bad in any way? Like it has to be pushed quicker than anything else
Which is the exact argument for not removing it too soon. There is no way the country would survive multiple lockdowns it just isn’t Possible
We won’t sit around for years, we’ll be going in and out of lockdowns. If the government can stop fucking around and get track and trace sorted them lockdowns only need to be localised instead of national. All the government has to do is reverse the multiple failings they’ve made so far and with personal common sense as a country can manage this virus as well as any other country has. If the government keeps getting it wrong on every aspect as they have so far we’re fucked and the government will have earned the criticism to go with the criticism that they’ve already earned.Yeah but people on this thread aren’t saying a few months they are saying ‘years’
We can’t sit around for years or else the government would get slaughtered for that too
Great news that is
It is if you’re a manufacturer or prosthetic limbs.if they told you it was now safe to go stroke a hungry lion, would that be great news too
Nah I’m just glad we’ve gone from 4-3 like anybody else should be? Fucking weird of you not to think thatif they told you it was now safe to go stroke a hungry lion, would that be great news too

Yes it is a problem though! So fine the testing all works and it’s approved! Then we’ll have to wait weeks/months for it to be scaled up and available to use.....thankfully the government are making it so that once it hopefully gets approved it will be straight away given to those that most need it
It’s crazy what you are suggesting, basically that if one works we’ll then have to wait months for it to be scaled up to give the public
But I don’t get how combining the stages to try and end a world pandemic as early as possible could be bad in any way? Like it has to be pushed quicker than anything else
All disrespect
I'm not sure he can eat and breath at the the same time
Can anyone? You can chew and breath but eating and breathing is impossible due to the way the oesophagus and windpipe are joined.
But we aren’t in a position to wait years for that? We can’t have lockdowns every 6 months for 2/3 years
I think they've already done the ones that were supposed to happen when we went from 4 to 3. Plus a few extra. You know, 'guided by the science'.So the Covid alert level has been reduced from 4 to 3.
Does this mean we expect to see further relaxation of social distancing measures?

But we can potentially have a huge amounts of deaths from an unsafe 'cure' that was given out because testing had been rushed? Still, worth it if the pubs can open eh?
If they came out and said they were adjusting the guidance and actions at each level due to further information and scientific evidence you could kind of understand it as it’s an ever changing scenario - but it’s just more on the hoof thinking. The levels are absolute bollocks.
The R number has been below 1 for how long so why have we been at 4 for so long?
Why are the things in Levels 2 and 1 already happening if we are only just moving to 3, nevermind 2 or 1?
Absolute bollocks. Making it up as they go along.
But that just shows that the way we choose to live isn't robust enough and needs to change to be more flexible.
It isn't those animals which are the strongest or cleverest that survive and thrive, it's those most adaptable to change. This is showing we're not adaptable to change so we need to seriously rethink how we go about things. First place to look is the obsession with the economy and how it operates. Make that more flexible and our ability to survive lockdowns and future problems improves massively.
Bad news for everyone shouting about the imaginary second wave
On an objective level that's exactly what nature wants to do. We're overpopulated, so it's trying to compensate,Not really though. Survival of the fittest etc. The weak die off. Maybe that's been the plan all along.
What is? the fact that because we've all been sat at home not infecting one another, there's less infections?Bad news for everyone shouting about the imaginary second wave

Yeah because the threat of a second wave has dropped now they’ve moved to the next part of the PowerPoint.Bad news for everyone shouting about the imaginary second wave
