SMT approach is to leak stuff to HoDs to then share with us and canvass opinion before deciding what to do. I have also had nothing through about going up the main scale so it seems like I’ve burned myself out this year for no rise. If it continues as is next year I’ll look more closely at leaving the profession and going back into science.

Technically almost no-one has died of AIDS. Usually end up dying of pneumonia.

Same with cancer - what finishes most off is an infection the body is too weak to fight.

Even if it doesn't kill them Covid could be the difference between someone dying and someone not. Why I'm fearful of big numbers in winter - if people have damaged lungs from Covid it could make a massive difference in being able to fight off cold, flu or pneumonia

Also if you are on mainscale (M1-6) you should be moved up automatically. It’s only when you get to M6 and want to go through threshold or move up UPS that you have to ‘apply’ to move up. If you're being told otherwise it’s not true, irrespective of performance management.

Maybe we need a points system whereby conduct and providing untrue/misleading info etc can result in ineligibility for (shadow)cabinet up to eventual deselection depending on severity and how often.

Although knowing them it'd be 20 points for failing to address the speaker correctly , 3 points for lying to the house and 1 point for lying in public.

Would love to be optimistic but just having Johnson get up and say everything will be back to usual by Xmas while the experts are saying the opposite doesn't give me reason to.

IMO this is Johnson saying "we're doing it anyway". It's got to a point where they've decided the economic impact is too big so if people have to die so be it.

827 new cases which are basically spread back predominantly this week, they tend to report a low number on the day itself then revise afterwards. Safe to say cases are going back in the wrong direction again.
