The actual numbers the vaccines started with were superb, beyond wildest expectations really, so the fact they take a hit due to omicron still means they compare relatively well compared to flu vaccines.What has annoyed me in your case is persistent criticism of vaccination as a tool for fighting Covid but the reluctance to name or just suggest an alternative. As has been shown, the risk of rare complications in younger people is higher in those infected rather than vaccinated. That alone to me seems a sensible reason to get it.
New evidence has also emerged on the decline in vaccine effectiveness against transmission over time and against more infectious variants. During the most critical time of year however, a statistically significant reduction against transmission by reducing overall viral load stands up as another big reason to get the jab if you’re younger.
