Point 2 is just false
How?

I'd say the only time we've played attractive football was for a month or two last season.

We've consistently been fairly low scoring and defensively solid playing conservative football. You look at our greatest successes under him - winning L1, playoffs in the champ and both times we scored significantly less than those around us.

Why are people suggesting we drop Wright when he’s the only one that’s scored more than one league goal for us this season 🤣. Fucking clueless
Agree. As frustrating as he is to watch at times he's still banged in 4 goals. Part of the issue is our midfield is so poor he is always having to drop back. I watched Luton v Sunderland the other night and even though they lost Luton were by far the better team. They were closing down very quickly everytime Sunderland got the ball. We need to make sure Wright & Saka (if he starts) keep their positions so we can breakaway but my fear is they will both get dragged back to defened which will make it too easy for Luton.

We played some attractive football in the 21/22 season - scored 7 past Fulham, 4 at home v Sheff Utd etc.

21/22 we were an amazing attacking team, scoring loads and having fun doing it.

Soooo many goals past the 90, honestly think that was the season I had most fun. Maybe it was because it was the first year back at the CBS.

Football does not need to be high scoring for it to be attractive. The play in L1 was nice to watch and in contrast to the Rotherhams and Wycombes of the league. 21/22 also saw quite a few impressive displays based on ‘pass and move’ football.

The problem MR has is putting the handbrake on this too much.

Is Eccles out for this one, or are people just dropping him? He's been our best midfielder this season. Seems about as mad as leaving Wright out of your teams unless there's a good reason and he can't play.

So, I do feel Wright is not physical enough to play the central role and if he is scoring goals where he is - why move him. I've nothing against EMC and do feel a bit sorry for him, I don't mind 3-4-3 or 4-4-2 or whatever being considered in the future but right now I feel like we need to stop experimenting. It all looks far to random and unrehearsed at the moment when things go wrong.

I've missed this. Trying to think back to the game. Remember he was subbed off for Torp but otherwise blanking. What happened to him?
Well he was shaking his head when he came off and limping. So it just seemed a bit more serious. At the time, at least

Yup it's this that makes me doubt we can ever be free flowing scoring machine

That doesn't mean we can't be a successful team under robins still but just saying I'm not sure we will ever be a side that batters teams alot

I feel tomorrow is make or break MR, with the investment this squads had it just cannot continue like it has. I’m in the camp that we need a change, we cannot ignore the slow starts anymore and the money spent on players that simply aren’t going to take us to the next level. Do I trust MR next season to recruit well and get off to a flying start? No

I think the last few years we’ve got lucky with signing two unbelievable players, who let’s be honest kept us in the division. You cant keep picking out gems like we had for a million quid here and there, your luck runs out. It wasn't long ago we had Waghorn and Walker up top for us, more expensive signings that didn’t work out.

Yeah and we now have a top heavy squad where even our defenders have generally been signed more for their ability on the ball/going forward than defensive attributes.

Robins is becoming the odd one out imo

We should at least be defensively strong if nothing else, but we concede very soft goals regularly now.

Think he may be injured unfortunately though not confirmed

Can’t ignore slow starts and happy to agree. But in isolation Luton are a team who while struggling have a lot of quality.

If we don’t beat Luton but play to a decent standard and we can see the improvement in the squad, would we really get rid, even if it’s a bad performance should we even at the start of the year (Luton considered favs), be beating them?

Let's set up with a 4-2-4 then. If our midfield is going to be even more missing let's just bypass the whole fucker!
To be fair I think this may be the best shape for the match anyway.

Luton’s wingback press high and more will look to block MVE and Dasilva, meaning if we can win it back from deep our Strikers could have a 4 vs 3 on the break which with our pace could hurt there centre backs.

2 Is rubbish, we've played some great stuff under him.
League 1 box only time that stands out as good football?

Also first season up even though we struggled I liked that we passed it around

But other than that I think we tend to rely on individual brilliance more than a cohesive team effort to score alot emg gyok McNulty hamer o hare

Goddene an exception as we made chances for him in league 1

Luton are 2/1, and the bookies have us as favourites (which i think is a joke)
If we pick anything up tomorrow, I'll be more than happy. The first game that I'm expecting 3 points is Derby at home (if we haven't picked up points beforehand, and don't beat them, then I will be worried)

1. There's no way this squad should be in a relegation battle like we were when we first came up.

2. We've basically never played attractive football under Robins.
In lge 1 promotion I've never seen such a City football, passing, team. I remember playing Blues in theFA Cup over there. We made them look like statues.

We played a lot of good football 2nd and 3rd season back in championship as well as L1 winning year.
It's mad how people try to denigrate our achievements to prove a point.
We even had people doing it regarding the FA cup win when they were arguing Robins was a better manager than Sillett.
This place is fucking nuts at times!

Edit - I'd also say we had some purple patches last season though there was a lot of dross

If Eccles is out, we could look at playing Sakamoto as a ten to free up Torp and Rudoni to play in the centre (one as backup). I think Robins did do this early last year a couple of times?

I'm not denigrating anything.

Just saying that defensive solidity has generally been the #1 priority. We have tried to play more expansive football at times, but it hasn't bought us success.

It's obviously subjective as well. I didn't regard the L1 low scoring 5221 as particularly attractive football.

I'm not denigrating anything just giving my opinion. I agree we do alright in patches but don't think we have ever had a brand of football cemented other than in league 1

I want to see us doing it in week in week out. It's the next step to continue taking this club forward

And it's ok if we have a stale season inebtween like this currently is as long as we show we are making small progress at least to the bigger picture

We need to fly out the blocks using MR language we have had an extra day's rest ( so no excuse there) Bassette and Asante up front for me .We lose fear the worst. We are not a different team from last year, even signed better players so what's the fucking problem. EMC can't be that bad play him in his nature natural position. Forget about your big earners as they are not performing.

Remember when we had an extra day's rest against Sheffield Wednesday

Remember that first season back up (20/21). We started with the box formatiion that got us promoted and played some lovely stuff, but leaked goals for fun, and couldn't score enough. Robins changed us to a more direct side and it got us to safety. We never played the pretty passing, box formation again.

What I will say this season, and I know you create your own luck, is that we haven't had much rub of the green. I'd really like ti see us get the ball in the danger area more often so that we can get one of those lucky breaks, as that is how Sheff wed, Oxford and Swansea have benefitted from scrappy goals iirc.

Oh....and @Saddlebrains please cheer up - it feels like someone at the club has upset you, and you won't now post anything but negativity. Get the love back, fella!

I know he hasn't featured much recently, but looks like Mason-Clark also doesn't fit in unless we go back to 4 at the back.
Prefer Wright out wide as well which again requires a 4-3-3
