Unlikely but still possible.
And finishing as high as we can is important, we are more likely to retain and attract players and fans with a top 10 finish rather than a 15th place damp squib.
Young Liverpool lad lined up got injured. Think he's only just returned to fitness.Where did you get this info from?
I agree & also think we should have pushed harder in the summer, but as I say it would be a bit of a 180° for King. He was very cautious/reluctant with them even as a proposed playoff chasing team to then spend money on them for no return would be odd. Hopefully, as suggested he's listening to Lampard.Unlikely but still possible.

I would’ve thought that offering them money that we haven’t already spent on loan players in the previous window would be the main motivating factor.Unlikely but still possible.

DK who was late on, but we did try and things changed.
Half season loan deals won't be costing us much in the grand scheme of things, and I think we are a much more attractive proposition for potential players with a 9th place finish vs 15th.I would’ve thought that offering them money that we haven’t already spent on loan players in the previous window would be the main motivating factor.
We will be an attractive proposition to any player in the summer so long as we can offer a high enough salary and show we are making suitably serious investments elsewhere in the squad. If spending money on loan signings to have us finishing 9th instead of 15th hinders our ability to do that then we shouldn’t do it.Half season loan deals won't be costing us much in the grand scheme of things, and I think we are a much more attractive proposition for potential players with a 9th place finish vs 15th.
I also imagine that Lampard was assured he'd have the opportunity to bring at least a few players in in Jan.
Would be an odd change of tact from King given we aren't going down or making playoffs, it's just dead money. Caveats over loans with view to perm or if we're offloading elsewhere to offset the wages of course.
Who?We were literally getting a loan in before the season.
I know... I even said it at the time. See belowWe were literally getting a loan in before the season.
Can't help but think half the shit is made up.
James McConnell I was told.Who?
Why would we be an attractive proposition if we finished 15th? Attendances would dip, we’d likely lose a few key players and there would be little evidence of us making top 6 next season. We will be an attractive proposition to any player in the summer so long as we can offer a high enough salary and show we are making suitably serious investments elsewhere in the squad. Absolutely, the number of times MVE just did not feel confident we would retain possession if he fed Tats and instead turned back to the centre backs, usually Thomas. Tats place is up for grabs, something we would not have said last seasonSakamoto's positional play when we were in possession was poor and showed a disconnect e we with his team mates. When he did get on the ball we all know what he is going to do, drag it back and cut inside onto his left foot. I don't think he successfully did it once to complete a cross!
When Austin spoke at the forum he mentioned reasons as to why loans were problematic but didn't say any had fell through, though that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Will somebody do the stats, O'Hare v Rudoni goals and assists per 10 gamesRudoni brings more physicality than o hare did and he can hold his own creative wise.
He hasn't reached the heights o hare did yet for us but I am think he could be better on the long run perhaps as so young
We don't actually have much money compared to a lot of the league tho
Which is why I want to save as much money for the summer window as possible. We don't actually have much money compared to a lot of the league tho
We got by without a dof during sisu era didn't we?Think the director of football role is beyond Doug king really we need someone who knows football
Exactly. It was never a hard & fast "no loans". King was reluctant as he sees it as dead money & for the other reasons outlined by Austin at the forum but for the right player at the right price, there was always room for at least 1. We should have done more to get 1 or 2 in during the summer though for sure.
He was signing but had a nasty injury so it fell through
The whole we don't do loans thing has always been bollocks, we understandably prefer to buy players we we will actually own but will do loans if it is the right thing to do.
That’s when we had a manager and not a head coachWe got by without a dof during sisu era didn't we?
But apparently recruitment was down to Austin? That’s when we had a manager and not a head coach

I thought he seemed a bit of a deer in the headlights when asked it at the forum like it hadn't even been considered previously.Didn't King say we were looking to bring one in?

Exactly. Now we are in a much better place yet stuff like dof is now a big deal to people and vital lolWe got by without a lot of things during their era, including a home.

A dof would be ideal but we're hardly a disaster without one is what I mean.
What is his role at our club? Is he stealing a living? But apparently recruitment was down to Austin?
It was interesting that we have changed how we build from the back already, at the start we seemed to make the 3 at the back in the build up phase the 2 cbs and the lb where as now it looks like the lb advances further and Sheaf drops back at lot to back the 3 in the initial build up before stepping forward once we are moving forward with the ball.It wasn‘t an exciting match, but there were some interesting tactical things that you can see when you’re at the game.
1) We were trying to play that Pep-style 3-2-5 in possession, especially in the first half. I swear I even saw some Rico Lewis style runs from Bidwell.
2) Millwall set up in a 4-4-2 mid block designed to disrupt us and they executed it perfectly. They didn’t press our defenders but they blocked all of the passing lanes out of defence, leading to a lot of sterile passing between Dovin, Thomas and Lati.
3) We should have brought Simms on much sooner. He opened up a whole new option for forward passing, suddenly we could get the whole team up the pitch faster and Millwall had to drop back. Sheaf actually had more space on the ball after that. I think changing Simms at HT could have won it for us.
4) Dovin seems more confident. He enjoys having the ball at his feet, and was solid in everything he did.
Yesterday was one of those transitional games you see when a team is trying to play a slightly different way and it isn’t quite working yet.
Pete. And others. King shouldn't be in charge of footballing matters etcWho's saying it's a big deal?
