Also. Block 10 feels like an away day. Loads they need to sort out.

Happy with the win and the style of play. Getting out not so great. Surely with Jimmy Hill way being down to one lane for a couple of miles until the spring means stopping people accessing the M6 is ridiculous. Complete lack of thought gone into it.

I watched it with someone who had never seen us before.

I was told to get a No 11 shirt.

Very entertaining but, and I am sure they know, we need to sort out the defence.

Hindsight brigade are on fire tonight. Of course there is gonna be reactive comments DURING THE GAME. Stupid cunts.
Stand by my in game comments anyway tbf. They threatened very little but when they did the defence looked piss weak.
Bidwell was poor again.
Don't get Torp hate, was better than Eccles for me.
We have some Prem quality players but we're still short a couple and we're conceding the same shite we were conceding back end of last season.
Cautiously optimistic but it does rely on Robins doing a bit more business.

A lot to like and also dislike about our performance last night, looked exciting going forward but we conceded two utterly wank goals on our part, however we did on the overall balance of play deserve to win that, Oxford's keeper was immense and tbf deserved better than being let down by the sloppy backpass that led to the goal, that being said Oxford will be fine if they carry on like that and it is refreshing to see a newly promoted side come up and not play anti-football, their no.19 was a cracking little player and was amazed when they took him off

Think we could do with an experienced bod at the back and unfortunately as much as I like him Bidders had his poorest game in a while! Can see him chucking Dasilva in over the next few games

Rudoni oozes class even if what he tries to do doesn't come off at times, we're in for a treat when Sheaf is back and accompanying him in the midfield

Didn’t see all of the game as I was driving up to Caen and could only listen to it, but it sounded as if we played excellent first half and were deservedly ahead going into half time.

Good goals from Haji and Milan, but it seemed as if we could’ve or should’ve had more goals(?) which maybe could’ve put the game a bit more out of reach.

Oxford levelled first time with a bit of luck and through an error while defending the free kick, my initial thought listening to it was “here we go again, typical Cov playing really well but giving a team a route back into the game”.

Second half we seemed to control the game again, but there equaliser was another avenue for them back in the game.

To win it late on is a sign of a team that never gives up and good to see that the players continue that spirit from the last couple of seasons.

I will watch the game properly when I get home but three points was a must to kick start our season and we got that.

In the match first half there was one occasion possibly more where the passing sequence just outside the 18 yard box it became obvious to me we were becoming predictable, possibly a combination of drills they're doing during the week and possibly through a lack of intelligence.
It was crying out for a switch to the opposite way.
What I mean by that is that is when the ball is central they need to reverse the direction of attack instead of doing the whole passing routine across the face of goal to the other wing, thus causing havoc to they're defensive set?

What was Bidwell doing with their second? He is normally excellent when defending the back post but he’s getting caught this year. Feel bad for Binks and Lati because I think both had good games but have conceded two.

Good morning Sky Blue Family.

What an emotional thing it is watching the club you love. Some of our football was breathtaking last night and a joy to watch. It's such a shame we continue to give soft goals away.

I'm not going to apologise for my lucky, lucky comment but do accept it was a massive overreaction at a time when I thought we'd blown 3 points. I posted earlier that it was a daft comment and took it back.

It's such an emotional roller coaster during games that it brings out the good, bad and plain daft in all of us. Plain daft in my case last night.

It's gonna be a brilliant season but please sort out the defence.

After sleeping on it, I’m pleased we (Oxford) played you early. If you don’t finish in the top 6 or can step up to become an automatic, then we are in for a hard season. For us, although I’m gutted you took all 3 points, I think it will be an eye opening lesson for us as to how big the gulf in quality is between League One and the Championship.
Our spending on players is in the region of £300-400k is completely dwarfed by your players worth, someone on here said you had CB’s worth £6.5 million sitting on the bench! Hopefully we’ll pick up a couple more before the window closes.
A great crowd, much better than when we were plying in L1.

We looked fine attacking but what a couple of soft goals we conceded.

I thought Oxford looked ok at least passed it around rather than doing a Rotherham type hoof style

You can expect a season comparable to our own first at this level I think. Trying to hit teams on the counter and seize on mistakes is the right approach, and at least some of your players will adapt to the level with more time.

It’s a marathon not a sprint in this league

You looked alright, I think you’ll be ok. What you don’t want to be come is that team that’s told “if you play like that - you’ll be ok”

you were guilty last night of the same thing we were when we first come up, making a mistake at a crucial time. As you said the gulf between the leagues is massive.

We’ve kicked on because we found 2 stars for 2m - they netted us 40m

This sounds very similar to a lot of the posts on here when we first got promoted. I remember playing teams like Stoke and Bristol City, looking at how much they’d spent on players and thinking how are we supposed to compete. And that’s not even taking into account the parachute clubs who still blow the rest of us out of the water. First season is the most inportant. If you can stay up then you can start to build a platform. We’ve got to where we are now based purely on recruitment and flipping players for 10x what we paid for them, it’s the only way that a team can grow now.

And we're going to get hammered by someone too if we don't sort out our defensive mid and cdm issues
We are going to concede more against the better sides imo. Hopefully when Sheaf returns the midfield is less open . A better side than Oxford would have run through Torp at will tonight. We're 2 additions away from being a complete side in this division but they are in key positions

Can’t believe I’m actually agreeing with you on something 😱😂

Not with the grain at all, I think they’re nailed on going down. People are just doing that thing after a win where they go way past graciousness. They were shit.

I'll never understand the criticisms about celebrating a win. If you can't enjoy it why would you even bother going?

Yes they were very poor - high energy but very fallable - and as the season wears on they will struggle badly

They looked better organised and had some reasonable individuals - a lot better than when we played them in the cup. We could still have won by 3 comfortably though. Just praying MVE has an injury free season, though - he is different class.

Yea I disagree they looked decent , stoke looked far better .

We literally gave 2 of the softest goals away you will see at this level and missed a hat full of chances 3 of which were on the line practically .

We will not dominate games like that many times this season. 3-2 completely, COMPLETELY, flattered them.

Like Grendel says, if they continue with with their sit and counter (which still didn’t look particularly threatening), I credit them for it but more and more teams will just pick them off.

I have a nice gash down my shin, which I obtained celebrating Haji's winner. I collided with a bit of metal/ a seat/ a person's leg made out of rock(?) I know not what. Worth it for that moment. I even got a joyous hug from the bloke next to me who had been quietly seething ever since their equaliser, and was going to be sulking all weekend if we'd not won. The change in his mood when we scored - priceless!

Cold light of day and all that

Oxford could seriously go down if that is them being "good", they offered nothing that we didn't gift them on a plate.

Other teams won't waste the bags of chances we did.

We looked pretty good going forward, just got to not be so wasteful but once it properly click s we will start gubbing teams

Congratulations. You were much the better team. Look forward to the return fixture at home when we’ve settled into the league.

A good three points for you against a team currently residing in the playoffs 😉

Thanks.

It was a great game to watch and Oxford certainly played their part. Based on your performances to date I think - and hope - that you will do fine this season.
