Cold light of day and all that

Oxford could seriously go down if that is them being "good", they offered nothing that we didn't gift them on a plate.

Other teams won't waste the bags of chances we did.

We looked pretty good going forward, just got to not be so wasteful but once it properly click s we will start gubbing teams

In my opinion other teams "will" likely waste lots of chances that we did. And they do. That's why games aren't 8 -0 week in week out. Our team aren't the only ones, it's about taking 25 / 30% of those chances and we will be alright. What probably looks like easy chances from the our seats up in the stand or on tv, likely isn't straight forward down there on the pitch.

Crikey, there’s some rot on here. We’ve absolutely battered Oxford and played sublime football. I know it’s frustrating if we aren’t winning but come on, that was superb. We’ll destroy a lot of teams this year. Wright, MVE, Saka, Binks superb. Also Lati had a solid game. I had my doubts but he was decent.
I noticed with Lati that when he got the ball he was playing it to Binks for him to forward pass not sure if that was by design or just his
lack of passing ability in playing forward balls as was evident when he played in midfield last season

The village mob from Oxford stood gawping at the Coventry fans before the game and couldn't believe their eyes and ears at the end.

Absolute joy
Was in the Longford Engine before the match and a group of their lads were utterly embarrassing themselves, think there was even a table of Oxford fans who were cringing at them

I do like all the new scoreboard graphics for this season and little videos for each player, it's nice when actual effort is put into things again. No replays though, not sure if that was a sky thing or just a general change

I did find the word ‘COV’ flashing on the screen for a solid minute pretty amusing.

If fans are moaning about our winning celebrations in the 96th minute , then maybe football isnt their sport after all
I think modern stadia have sucked atmosphere out of football. It’s now more sterile and polite.

The newer football fans will only know that type of atmosphere. So the “limbs”is becoming more alien up the football pyramid

And let's have it right , oxford fans were very confident they would beat us on their forum .. maybe that's added to some of the sour comments .

Oxford fans on their forum seem to think the ref favoured us and that he was shit. They’re still fuming over 7 minutes of added time. I really don’t get it.

Or one big continuous one?
Theirs, by comparison, ought to be in the Pitt Rivers.
Mind you, I do love that museum.
just not having a car park behind one goal really

being able to see down into that car park during the 3-3 confused me more than Dabo's own goals.

After sleeping on it, I’m pleased we (Oxford) played you early. If you don’t finish in the top 6 or can step up to become an automatic, then we are in for a hard season. For us, although I’m gutted you took all 3 points, I think it will be an eye opening lesson for us as to how big the gulf in quality is between League One and the Championship.
Our spending on players is in the region of £300-400k is completely dwarfed by your players worth, someone on here said you had CB’s worth £6.5 million sitting on the bench! Hopefully we’ll pick up a couple more before the window closes.
A great crowd, much better than when we were plying in L1.
It took us a long while to get back here. Our outlay in our first 3 seasons back at this level was about 3 million.

In the third season we spent nothing and had to sell our main CB to pay for a pitch.

Luckily two of the players in that £3m were Gus Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres. Selling them at around £35-40m (and counting) has enabled us to spend on the squad. That development of players is so important at this level if you're going to compete.

Good luck for the rest of the season though. It's a tough one being back first time, the games don't lose any intensity and they come thick and fast. You'll wonder why your team hasn't turned up some weeks but they'll just be dead on their feet. Stick behind your team, it definitely helps not adding more pressure.

I rewatched the highlights and Haji’s anticipation for the winner was fantastic! Thought he had a superb game, instrumental in all 3 goals and frankly should’ve scored before the winner with 1-2 chances beforehand.

Tats too, linked up really well with MVE which was typified with how he set up the second goal. I still believe EMC will be first choice come end of the season, but Sakamoto is going to make him earn it!

As other people have said, MVE was fantastic and he will be a Prem player next season with or without us.

My only concern was spine of the team, we noticeably miss Sheaf when he’s out and feel that whenever Lati or Binks play, we’re a bit softer in defence.

We did leave it late, but the winner was deserved despite the gift of that back pass. A really poor goal for them to concede which was only fair given that we gave them 2.

Eccles had an excellent second half
He put in some solid tackles but I don’t disagree with the view that Torp and Eccles struggled when pressed and I’ve felt all 3 games we’ve been open in midfield and defence.

That may be a tactical issue(s) that needs to be tweaked but I suspect that Sheaf will shore things up.
