I worry about RB. I don't believe we have anyone who plays there consistently enough or consistently well. MVE is too attack-minded, Lati drifts in too often, leaving us exposed. Who else have we got??

Not sure how you can compare?

Torp made plenty of harder passes.
1 goal - Simms
1 assist- Palmer

The stats don't lie. 🤣🤣🤣

Torp is a very good technical player, but has yet to cope with the physical side of the championship. I think he'll look better alongside Sheaf or Eccles rather than Allen though.

I think we got the selection totally wrong last week trying to play Allen and Torp together handed controll to Brlzzle, especially in the first half when we sat off them and looked very disjointed.

New account on the Oxford forum called "Boosh" winding up the locals about ticket sales (or lack thereof).

They're pretty confident about taking the points from us tonight.

I'm not the biggest Dasilva fan but he's here and I think he'd be fine in a game like this tbh. Lati doesn't convince me at all but it is Oxford at home so you'd hope we'd be OK.

I think too many people are fixated on the cup win last year, this is a team who went on a long run to gain a play-off place and then get promoted. I feel we will have a much harder game tonight

Eccles can cover RB in the short term, but only if Sheaf is fit, as you saw what happened to our midfield at Brizzle when Sheaf and Eccles were missing.

Ideally we need another RB and a CM and possibly a CH before the transfer window closes. Let's hope Gyokeres and Hamer move on ASAP.

Might be a bit harder than that but we should be beating them.

Yes quite different now. Their manager hadn’t bedded in at that time and James Beadle, probably their standout player at the time, got recalled by Brighton to be sent out on loan to Sheff Wed. We were in better form then too.

Their forum is more confident than ours ffs. I think you lot need to accept that given the spend and the players available to Robins we should be swatting teams like this. Not one of them gets in our best 11.
I expect a win and anything less would be shite.

I'm going to have to record that Emily in Paris, it sounds good!

(Is recording tv programs still a thing?)

Stating the obvious but it will all depend on what team turns up. The one against Stoke & first half against Bristol or the one in the 2nd half against Bristol.

If we play anywhere near our best, we should have too much for them but I'm not confident that will happen. On a high from promotion, siege mentality (like us when we came up) and a win from their opening game. Unfortunately, I think they'll get something tonight.

Unless our rousing rendition of WLADITT get our players amped up from the beginning.

i think this is the point - they've won one game and are confident, they're favourites to get relegated.

Not one of their players gets near our starting 11, even with the "issues" we think we have.

Anything but a win is disappointing... not saying it cant happen, but it shouldn't

You need to respect every team you face in this league, but far too often we show far too much respect to the point of getting timid, passive performances like we saw at the weekend. Obviously they are a stronger proposition as a Championship team, but if we aren’t looking to win here then frankly, who are we going for the win against?

Expecting them to go full throttle from the start to press us in to a mistake. If we've got the intelligence to go longer and use the space that'll leave for Rudoni and the front three then we should score first and win. Fall into any traps they set early on and it could be a long night!

I think this is going to be stickier than expected, as we always grow into seasons. 2-1 coming back from 1-0 down.

Just watched the highlights from Oxford's midweek win against Peter and his brother.

They were absolutely gifted both goals!

Yeah completely agree, I have a feeling they’ll get a draw at least

It’s not been clicking so far, hope tonight it does.

I've seen City v Oxford three times in recent years. One of the worst ever performances was in 'League Cup' at their place 6 years ago. Truly dreadful. Then we lost to them at home in the League in the same season. Bright Enockbarre (spell?) in bright green boots dominated the game for the first 3 minutes, they then controlled the next 87 for a 1-0 win. Plus of course the Wembley win.

I will be very surprised if Oxford are a pushover. They are on a high after being promoted, and starting well. We are supposedly strong in attack, but have only scored one goal. Commentators on here have frequently said that we still suffer the curse of the slow build up. I had hoped Dovin would improve that. Maybe it needs more time

As to the team, here are the variables

Central defence: Thomas plus one of Binks & Kitchen. After Tuesday I vote Kitchen. He could have been 1st choice for Stoke but for suspension. We don't know

Left back: JDS or Bidders. Always, always Bidders

Midfield: Three from Torp, Allen, Eccles, Rudoni and Palmer. I'd leave out Palmer and Allen. But would not be surprised if MR left out Torp. Eccles has to learn the Sheaf role in the absence of an incoming

Attack: EMC or Wright. Has to be Wright.

3-1. Simms, Sakamoto, BTA. Late consolation for them.

If we can’t beat these at home then we have no business being in the top 6, given how much money we have spent
Come on, one swallow doesn't make a season. You are usually a bit saner than this. We should be winning these games of course but not doing so doesn't mean the season is over.

Aye, should be looking at something like 3-1.

Anyway given the "leaks" I'd say:

Dovin

MVE
Lati
Binks
Bidwell

Torp
Eccles
Rudi

Saka
Simms
Wright

But knowing how much Robins likes him Allen could play instead of Torp.
