Mathematically it’s not a must win but it is a must win if we want to get back in control of playoffs.

we’ve got to stop playing Collins and stop conceding 2 goals a game.
Yup. Think we have to get 3 points on Wednesday.

Quite conceivable that Bristol City may well beat WBA and that Middlesbrough will beat Leeds, the way Leeds are playing at the moment.

I think we have to win. Otherwise heads could drop a little.

Unfortunately, listening to Edwards after the match, it does/did sound like they won't be thinking of dropping him!
Hopefully when they analyse the goals, they'll realise he cost us a point.
At least Collins will take confidence from the brilliant performance he had the last time we played Portsmouth :D

I don't know what we're achieving by persisting with him. It seems like for his own good you need to take him out of the firing line.

Even if they don't rate Wilson, which would make giving him a new contract very odd, unless he's throwing the ball into his own net every game you're not really going to be any worse off.

At this point it seems like we're all wishing for a huge turnaround in form with zero evidence it will happen.

Collins must be dropped, that's a given but I have just as much/little faith in Wilson.

Totally agree, get Luke Bell in goal

If we were comfortably mid table, I would agree. However, we have a chance of the playoffs so have to play Wilson. Don't think we have any other choice in the matter.

People seriously suggesting Bell go in goal shows the problem with dropping Collins. Yes, you can banish your second-choice keeper and move on to your third or fourth-choice instead, but it likely means the rest of the team has to change shape and tactics just to accommodate.

The only reason you drop Collins is if you genuinely believe he will cost you a goal every game via mistakes. I don't begrudge anyone for feeling that way but it doesn't seem like Lampard and the coaches are there yet.

Collins is picked over Wilson because he suits the high line. If we played Wilson we’d need to change the entire teams tactics.

I’ve heard this but we’ve played with a lower line under Lampard at several points (not to mention Robins and Carr) think the lads could deal with the adjustment to a lower defensive line.

Playoff teams don't tend to voluntarily change their entire tactical setup just to accommodate their third-choice keeper.
Yeah but that’s the thing, teams have to adapt to suit the players they have. If Dovin didn’t get injured I wouldn’t be advocating for changing anything but here we are.

We can keep playing Collins for his ability to sweep up which costed us two goals and distribution which is the best imo at the club or we can play a deeper line which enables us to focus on being compact and use Wilson’s command of the area.

Respect if you think Collins will come good just don’t have the confidence and don’t want us to shoot ourselves in the foot by being too rigid to change

I can see Boro beating Leeds and Bristol City beating Albion, so this is a game we need to take maximum points from. We should have enough about us to beat them, I will be disappointed if Wilson isn’t in goal.

Even tho I don't think he was wholly at fault, Kitching was equally culpable, Collins has to make way for Wilson

Back four: I would always have Bidwell, but suspect Frank will stick with JDS

Midfield: Allen was ineffectual against a strong Burnley set up, Torp offers more.

Attack: Simms disappointed (why does he bother with those half jumps in front of a defender heading the ball, rather than contest, it never has the effect he desires?), so leave them as they are

Management: If the game requires intervention, Frank has to up his game management. It was obvious against a set Burnley defence we were making little impact. Bringing on subs so late gives them no chance to make a difference.

...and Grimes (who was hobbling near the end) has to really get hold of the game by the scruff of the neck. He went awol for periods on Saturday. Only Rudoni really bothered them.

Incidentally did you notice how few corners Burnley conceded. Very telling
