We should have had four pens by my count. Bassette was shoved over twice in the first half right in front of me, and that’s why he gave a shove back because clearly the ref thought shoves were OK. The elbow was a little something extra.

Ref was truly dreadful again.
Ref was rubbish but I didn’t see either of those first-half challenges as penalties personally.

Well done to Bassette. We've been crying out for a player to do that for 20 years.

It's a shame Mark Robins didn't play him, he might still have a job now.

I wonder if Mark watched it on Sky, I'd love to know his thoughts. 🤔

First half we did. I thought second when we were chasing the game we stopped completely TBH. The two go together though. Passes are easier to make when the receiver has moved into space.
We were in the their half most of the second half. Got some overlaps going out wide which got us some dangerous crossing.

Still need more quick 1-2s or risky through balls however

At least one was a full shove in the back from where I was. I just think if you give CBs a foul for falling over when they’re touched, you can’t claim it’s OK to push attackers over.

No matter what. For me you’ve got three CBs marking one striker, he shouldn’t be getting to that cross

at least you’re not having to argue with that clueless berk Turner at the CET who suggests we were playing 3-5-1-1 but then talks about Torp AND Rudoni at the top of the box together

fucking moron

We needed to move them about a lot more to try and open space. We’ve done this all season stood about watching the man with the ball afraid to move out of position. We won’t be a top team until we can handle teams not allowing us to counter attack them only.

Here you go...

He was in a good position, was facing the right way, and anticipated the pass.

It was just an excellent ball. Have people never heard of a defence splitting pass? That's why Hamer gets the big bucks. Just about any defender in the league is getting beat by that pass.

Lati also lost his man

There’s such a disparity in the game currently in how attackers and defenders are judged in the final third. I’m surprised Bassett got away with as much as he did.

We need a creative spark. Palmer and o hare gone

Rudoni is good but can't do it alone. I'm sure recruitment team are looking at it

MR : Adi look here we’ve strung 5 passes consecutively together
AV : no no this cannot do we must tell them to hoof it to their keeper
MR : Agreed but I also thing we should try Lati in the 10 with Simms at RCB, it would get the best out of both of their skillsets
AV : Are you back on medication Mark?

Rudoni isn’t anywhere near as tricksy as I thought he’d be. We should have had Saka and EMC on at half time for their ability to beat a man instead of always playing in front of them. I said I’d have had Simms on too but when he came on he was totally ineffectual again. What’s happened to him?

There was one game where Simms was quite feisty and looked great and he’s back to looking like he’s just ambling around. So much potential.

I personally agreed at keeping formation same for second half . I would have changed it around 55th mins

Simms looks like he isn't trying even with new manager incoming. Worrying.

He doesn't have the intensity to make his mark in games like that. Not that we really had an alternative but thought bringing him on was one of the key factors behind us taking our foot off the pedal.

It gives us nothing to aim at in the box so when teams play deep and narrow we end up passing it around before a late cross into the box to no one in particular. Saka and EMC are our best wide players so for me if we were going to be exploiting space out wide and not playing through the middle the box wasn’t having the right impact.

People acting like these are points dropped they’re not. Very much a point gained, came back twice from losing positions. We dominated them and they’re supposed to be one of the best teams in the league. When Lampard or whoever the new HC will be whips us into shape we’ll be a real force, and when Haji comes back from injury he’ll be like a new signing (hopefully FL brings Ashley Cole to sure up the backline)

I’m not going to go back over previous pages as can imagine ! Played really well today, struggled to break them down second half but that’s because they just sat with everyone behind the ball. Got a point and deserved more against team top of the table…hit post, disallowed goal etc etc

defence is still loose as fuck though. i hope the new manager can get the best out of Kitching as there’s no way he shouldn’t be in a back five if he can rediscover his form/confidence

Don't agree he exhibits a lack of effort, he's more just completely devoid of any kind of confidence.

Said it before but I don’t think he knows what his strengths are. Is he chasing balls into the channels (yes IMO) is he dropping deep and playing the target man.

Defence is a real worry. I dread to think where we’d be with even a middle of the road defensive record. Am I right in saying we’ve scored three in every win so far? Not exactly sustainable.

He delivers a good corner though, and we had a ton of those today.

The bizarre thing is this is the same group as last year so it’s got to be down to coaching/set up…as well as regular lapses on concentration !

Saying that we seem to get punished for every lapse. Id love to see goals to shots ratio for our opposition in recent weeks, especially at home, would imagine it’s high !

I think losing Lawrence and Fadz mid season would have made a huge difference behind the scenes. And it’s a very young back line.

It's probably a cliche and not at all guaranteed to be a quick fix. But it does feel that we need a CB to organise the back line as none of the current three, nor the GK ever seem to vocalise anything.

A bit of leadership and direction would go a long way to ensuring players are where they're supposed to be and to anticipate danger.
