It's weird. People triggered because a few others don't have a good feeling about today. What difference does it make? The outcome will be decided later and Dave from Holbrooks not feeling it will have no influence whatsoever.

Either way, we back them a much as possible during the 90 minutes. That's all we can ever do.
yeah, that Dave from Holbrooks is a dick😉 I get being nervous about games like this but I’ve never gone to a game thinking we’re going to lose, we Dont get many games like this where there’s a bit more on it than others, we’ve got nothing to fear 3-2 Cov

I think we need a performance as a team. Everyone, yes there will be mistakes there always is. But we need that collective effort not three or four carrying the rest or a couple way off the level.
A win would create so much belief again.

I know Derby was just one game, but I am talking about the difference between a win and a defeat today. I think a draw is fine, personally.

A defeat and we will definitely be outside the playoff places and next up Sheff Utd away, which will be really tough.

A win, and I think we would go into the Sheffield game with real confidence.

It's not a must win today, but it has to be a not lose.

Sunderland have been fairly good at this level overall, the table doesn’t lie but this is one game and they’re not infallible. We were equal to them at their place and surely the officials can’t hand yet another appalling ‘goal costing ‘ decision to the opposition can they ?

I wouldn’t change shape as it means no natural place for two of our better players in Sakamoto and EMC.

LB is the problem we all know it is, made worse by Mr Reliable becoming increasingly unreliable. Not opposed to Binks at LB, but I think it’ll be JDS.

If Simms plays well today we win. If he’s on it and bullying their CBs - both of whom I think are donkeys - it’ll get them on the back foot and move us the pitch.

Wright should be nowhere near the starting line up.

3-1 City.

Unless he has suddenly sprung into sharp, match fitness.🤪

I am hoping he plays, obviously, but only if he is sharp and you would have to say he still won't be anywhere close to his old self just yet, unfortunately

Hopefully a good option off the bench if needed

Losing to these fuckwits isn’t an option

we were hopeless at derby changes needed
Change of attitude would help. Chase and harry every thing. Run ourselves into the ground. Show that we want it more.

Passion and spirit can go a long way. I don't think it needs major changes.

All depends on who's fit and ready I guess

But treat it like a cup tie and don't let them settle for a single second

Changes are needed but that doesn't always mean changing who is is the team. Too much chopping and changing often has a negative effect. Sometimes managers need to know who their best players are, which partnerships work best and just back them.

We’ve got to approach each game like a cup final and give it everything we have.

If the team thinks it can just turn up like it did against Derby and put a complete wet wipe of a performance in again then they can piss off.

They shouldn’t even need motivating to give it 100% passion and fight today. Nothing less is unacceptable.

I don’t want to end the season on a low considering the hard work to get to this position to be in the mix for the play offs.

Hope Wright is sharper today. Could make a huge difference.
Could he possibly be less sharp than against Derby?

Agree with @Evo1883 personally. It's a tough game. Think we'll lose 2-1 but obviously on our day we have what it takes to give anyone a game so will still pray today is our day. Be happy with a draw and over moon with a win.

If we lose it doesn't mean playoff dream is over though so won't be watching this place meltdown that's for sure

Looking forward to this one, it'll be a real test.
For me they're the surprise team this season, they look well drilled, dangerous and seem to often grab a result with a late goal.
Well need to be at our best to get a result.

We're already outside the play offs

Why is it so very taboo to think a very good team might beat us? I don’t get it.
Because they're not a very good side. Their recent injuries have hampered them just like ours has. They are still a good side but their big weakness is our big strength.

Of course they might win. No game in the Championship is a given. But the bookies have them at 2/1 for the win. Fair odds I'd say.

Sunderland aren’t a good side. They just magically appeared in 4th place.

We’re not a good side either apparently and magically appeared in 5th

I said they're a good side. Look again.

I was replying to them being a very good side. To me that's Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley. The 3 sides better than the rest of us. Sunderland are a good side but keep slipping up against lower sides. The top 3 don't do that.

It’s bizarre - some were even saying we’d overtake them.

Despite apparently being “off form” they have managed 10 points from the last 6 and should pass 80 points in the season

We are that side. The reason they're above us is our very poor start.

Take our last 11 games. A quarter of a season. 27 points from a possible 33. That's top 2 form. When Lampard took over we were 1 point out of the bottom 3.

We’ve just been on an all time run. Let’s see where it shakes out. In terms of where we are as a set up Sunderland are miles ahead of us. Evo is right it’s what we hope Lampard can do next season.

I'm not sure we can count a generational bit of form as a barometer of how our season would have played out from the start ..

I do believe we are a playoff side at best so I'm not disputing that , but Sunderland are a couple of bad results off pushing for automatic
