No because as I’ve pointed out at this stage of season there should be a clear difference between the top team and the 12th best team, in every other league there is, in our league there isn’t.

Our 41 points this season would have us 8th last and 13 points off top - I’m aware we have a different team but then if this team would have competed with the top teams last season shouldn’t they be top of this league by some distance?
Don't necessarily think you can say there should be some arbitrary gap. Plenty of times the championship top half has been separated by only a few points. It is what it is. Nice to see a competitive league.

No it doesn’t? We finished 8th one season in L1 then got relegated the next?

And they sold Clarke to Brighton and Lowe to Wigan did they not?

With a completely different team that finished 8th, pompey kept most their players and added some

So again, why is a team that finished on 88 points doing so much worse with much of the same squad
Because there is more competition?

Also You can't call the Premier league competitive when Liverpool have lost 1 league game in their last 59 matches

It's becoming the French league with PSG over the last few years

I think there are more competitive sides in the league this season, hence why the points tally is less.

Feels a bit tougher this year in the top half
I'd disagree. I would it's more competitive as there are no standout teams and a lack of quality across the board rather than more teams have improved and are more competitive.

A standout team doesn't equal a quality league though.

Take the Premier league, Liverpool have just won 20 from 21 games and there is a 17 point gap between them and City and a 16 point gap between them and Leicester.

Would you agree that Chelsea, arsenal, man United, Tottenham are all worse than they've been for a while and would you also agree that the competition is less for Liverpool?

They've lost 1 game in 59 in the league that doesn't scream a quality league, that streams PSG and farmers league

Would you also agree that this city side are better than last season, would you also agree that teams like Oxford Peterborough and Wycombe are better too... Rotherham have some solid championship players and so do Ipswich, Lincoln spent a decent amount, pompey still have a good squad and they spent 1.3 mill on marquis who is good at this level .. I'd say the competition is more hence why it's Alot closer

They lost 2 players who were deemed Premier League and Championship quality - think they went for £3m each?

Also, they had 7 loans in throughout the season

Looking at their lineup against Sunderland in the play offs which I presume was their strongest to their win over Wimbledon today

GK: MacGillivray (now Bass)
RB: Thompson (now Bolton)
CB: Burgess
CB: Clarke (now Raggett)
LB: Walkes (now Seeddon)
CM: Naylor
CM: Close (now McGeehan)
RM: Lowe (now Harness)
LM: Curtis
CAM: Evans (now Cannon)
ST: Hawkins (now Harrison)

Only 3 remain

We're talking about league one. There is not one great team in this league, we're all pretty average hence why anyone can beat anyone. Hence why the gap between 1st and 12th is so small.

This is the weakest league one theres been since we got relegated from the championship.

Your point regarding Liverpool is somewhat negated by the fact that they are European champions, super cup winners and world champions. That suggests, along with their over a year unbeaten in the league record, that they are pretty special in anybody's language. Pub league? You can only beat what is in front of you and we are doing okay, whatever happened in the past is irrelevant.

Id normally agree except the last time liverpool won the champions league they didn't even win the Premier league(both times) so it doesn't automatically class them as the best in Europe

You dont think this is the weakest league one since our relegation? Which season was a weaker group of teams?

Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

14/15 overall a weaker league

This season at the bottom its weaker as we have pretty much written off Bolton and Bury are gone.

Are you really arguing that 61 out of 63 points, unbeaten for over a year in the league, winners of 3 trophies is not anything special? You are a tough one to please.

That's not what I said at all... Last season Liverpool won the champions league but weren't even the best side in the Premier league.. So the argument is a tough one as how can you be the best in Europe if you haven't won your league?

Either way... They are the best in the prem this season by a long way..I also fancy them to maybe win the CL again

Such a disappointment today. Early goal seemed to set the tone of the game . Ie we’ll sit on it and MK will try and equalise.

We were so flat and devoid of ideas. Hopefully just a blip and the games do happen.

no one played well or badly really ... just a bit “meh”....

Yep the goal changed the game for us and we sat very deep. Thought we looked better when o hare come on and had more creativity but Godden was non existent today and had zero service all day

This season is very open. After 24 games last season the top 2 were 9/10 points better off than we are now. In any other season we'd be way off the auto spots. You do feel that to make the top two we're going to have to go on a long winning run at some point, but the evidence so far suggests we don't have that in our locker unfortunately.
Yeah but neither does anyone else

PS, I'm the one that's actually delighted with our season so far, I'm arguing for us being a better side in a more competitive league... So I'm not sure how you can say I'm tough to please
I'm pretty happy, 24 games in, We've won 1 more game than last season and lost 7 less, Scored 10 more goals and conceded 3 less. We're the most difficult team in the league to beat. A little disappointed to have dropped 9 points from the bottom 5.... and that's what will probably cost us the Autos, But the playoffs are a more fun way to go up anyway.... and we always win those right?

Definitely weakest with a 20 million £ team and a 13 million £ team, get some facts the reason the league is so tight is that there is more competition and the stand out teams that should be flying have chocked.
This cov team is easily a team that will sit comfortably in playoffs and of we do somehow go up that would to me be over achieving bit thats not to say we didn't deserve to go up because we have played sone of the best football outside the prem this season better than some of the leeds/brentford and derby performances ive seen.

Better than the sides who sit 1st and 3rd in the Championship...
