Having the option for pay on the gate is massive for me and some of my friends on evening games, I'll only know if I'll be able to make it a few hours before kick off. In which case, tonight I'm out.

Pay on the gate is ridiculous and makes you wonder why. How many people know a few hours before the game they can go? Who gets paid end of the month and goes when they are paid? People don't like queuing for hours to get those tickets? Surely missed income big time for the club we want to support? Massive stadium to fill so we don't have a problem there?

Honestly. Preferred it last year with just a few tweeks it was fine for a league 1 club but I went to many games POTG last season as it was convenient and easy. Now I can book in advance that's fine as I have already bought my tickets for shrewsbury but rather have just Walked up and paid cash with nothing to worry about such as tickets being delivered which incidentally they haven't been for Saturday.

No pay on the gate means it is a no from me too.

My wife has done her back in and is immobile. Has been anyway. She is slightly better today, but not sure how much help she will need later, so was hoping to just pay on the gate last minute.

At the moment I am chef and waiter.

Radio for me tonight.

Genuine Question, how do Wasps do pay on the gate? Surely we can just do it the same as them with Ticketmaster?

About time we had something akin to the train pay machines.

You book your tickets online and then within 15 mins you can go to the station, put in your reference number and voila, tickets with your allocated seat to boot!!

The funny thing about coming up against old faces like Barton in particular is that it reminds you that, once upon a time, there was a debate on here about whether to renew him or release him, or debates about his general worth. 12 months down the line (seems a lot longer!) and I doubt that anyone, anyone on here would have him back, despite our current squad limitations.

It really goes to show the value of time in providing perspective on these questions of judgement.

Or better still, either print off at home or have the ability to swipe your debit card on the turnstile for it to recognise that you paid with that card and then admit you (would need to be thought out carefully for multiple purchases, I grant you).

Why do we need any new investment, technology or ticketmaster for POTG matches?

........what exactly is the difficulty with fans just walking up, paying cash & enjoying the game?

I'd guess all ticketing needs to go through TicketMaster.

I bet they will be running all reports and everything through Ticketmaster as well.

god what a wanky idea.....its only football.....surely they can "manually input the data into the required fields" after they've admitted the fans.....what a pile of shite

Yup no POTG - so no me or the wife there - dont want to stand in Q - still by the look of it not many turning up - could be quick in the TO

from a well known crime book " welcome to the home of Mr Cock up "

With a decent Ticket Office setup it wouldn't actually take much longer than pay on the gate...

While I'm lucky I tend to get my tickets in advance to save me and the lad standing in a long cue, it's a big own goal from the club for today's game.
How many people have been away on holiday and unable to get tickets in advance or forgot so hoping to pay on the turnstile.

I think as long as people get there 20 minutes early they will be ok. Just go to the ticket office to get them.

Let's face it, even with Pay on the gate when people turnup at 7.42 it causes massive queues anyway.

The theory being walk round, scan ticket / card and in you go.

Tried to buy tickets online, lots of new 'hidden' charges. Wankers

Plus people like to turn up 5 mins before kick off and want to be seated by kick off, if not there's a riot!

Good luck from a Pompey fan, should be a good game as Paul cook has said he will be fielding a weakened team also due to away games to Crewe and Morecambe coming up.

Will add he's pretty much said for Pompey fans not to come if they want to see a first side

There is normally two queues at the ticket office, one for picking up pre-booked tickets which normally is pretty quick and one queue for people buying on the day which takes much longer. You should be in and out in less than a couple of minutes at the most.

The entire squad seemed to be at The Ricoh this morning; all playing cards in the Costa at 10am. I guess the senior professionals might have travelled 'just in case', but they're there. And some 9 hours + before kick-off?!?

Knowing how Pompey like to spend money they've probably come up the night before and stayed there!

Crossed my mind. The coach was outside, so they're travelled up on that. They'd have to have left the south coast at circa. 7am to be in the Coata for 10am - which they wouldn't do for an evening kick-off, I don't think. Didn't really feel like asking them, as such fraternising would have been 'dirty'

Maybe they're waiting for the casino to open.

Left the coast to arrive at the Costa. Funny that.

That is a hell of a long time to be sitting around, I wonder if Carl Baker is going to invite them round for an Avon party?
