The 100 has been good for women’s cricket but no use for men’s. It’s time to get rid of it and get behind the blast, they need blast games every night and even two games, play it over a shorter time period in the school holidays. It is far too spaced out to get the best players in it.

How much recovery time would a top level cricketer need between T20 matches?

Sorry I meant that it’s four separate teams on the same day and probably play a few less games over the tournament, I would say they could play a t20 game every couple of days if you regionalise it to cut the stupid distances travelled.

Problem for ECB is there's little chance women's Hundred cricket could stand on its own.

And packaging 2 games together defeats the ECB's original argument that T20 takes too long and younsters were unable to stay focussed that long. So they created 6 plus hour cricket as opposed to a 3/3.5 hour cricket.

Ditch the hundred. Refocus on the T20. Sky would get a lot more cricket for its investment.

Thing is with a Hundred match with both men and women that's a potential of 400 deliveries. A single T20 has a maximum total of 240.

So if you truly expect spectators to watch both then youngsters would have to stay focused for a lot longer with the Hundred. Which says the don't actually rate or support the women's game as the don't believe anyone is going to watch it.

As you say concentrate on a form of cricket that other nations play.

Having said that I do think it would be interesting to make it such that every player (except possibly the wicketkeeper) has to bowl, or be able to bowl with remaining overs, at least one over. Every player theoretically has to bat, so why not make them have to bowl? We laugh at the bowlers not being able to bat. Let's laugh at the batters not being able to bowl.

Not beyond the realms of possibility that this is all over today. SL limping to 10-2 at lunch. Couple of quick wickets after lunch and England will fancy getting this over and done with.

Smith looks like the genuine 6/7 keeper/ batsman they've been looking for. Competent keeper who can bat particularly alongside the tail.

Stokes out, Wood out and now Woakes hobbling about with another test starting on Thursday

Sure there's people lined up but it could be a pretty inexperienced bowling attack. If only there was someone with hundreds of test wickets who could play

Hull in for Wood. A bit of a punt.
Once again why can they not find a way to keep fast bowlers fit. Not just Wood - but Overton, Pennington & Tongue are also injured atm.

Sad to see a gripping Saturday of a test being played in front of pretty much empty stands

That time of year unfortunately…bank holiday weekend, lots of people on hols before kids go back and football seasons started. By and large the test attendances have been decent over the summer considering they’re not marquee series

Does make you wonder if they got the timing/prices right for this series though

Bethell in the T20 and ODI squads, Mousley joins him in the former. Means Bears would probably miss them for Finals day now?
Great for the lads but terrible for the t20 tournament if we get to the final as many of the best players will be missing. Do the ecb schedule many internationals around the hundred and it’s finals day?

Like the move to overhaul the white ball squads. Let's look to build for the future tournaments even it might mean some growing pains now.

Apparently ticket sales aren’t great for day 4. Combination of having matches so late in the summer, the ridiculous cost and the chance of little meaningful play past the 3rd day

Yup, this is the middle block of the Lower Mound Stand, loads available. Same as the other blocks. At £115 for Day 4, I'm not surprised.

Poor decision, no evidence that the ball hit the bat and not the pad.

Any doubt and it's not out.

Was the third umpire doing the V.A.R at the F.A. cup semi final by any chance.
My thoughts were about how cricket decisions have been so much better than VAR and then that decision. With you on that one "Any doubt not out".
