always odd when both teams have low first innings totals then 3rd innings it looks a different game / wicket

I'm unusually excited for the Test vs NZ. They seemed to have done something special vs India. So whats the vibes and expectations?

Just watched South Africa bowl out Sri Lanka for 42 in 13.5 overs, SL must have thought they'd done a good job restricting SA to 191.

I don’t get the way Brook has batted he could play straight and sensible and still be there and on around the same score.

Yup. I've stopped getting annoyed by it tbh and just accepted that's how he's (and they're) going to bat.

And as I type Atkinson has just creamed a cover drive and is batting superbly for a no 9! They're certainly not cowed by the pressure of playing for England now that's for sure.

Yep. Root's another one at times that has left simple runs out there if he'd batted normally.
Brookis just has gambler's approach. England could have been in big trouble if NZ had held the early catches Brook gave them- out for around 200.
That said England in a terrific position in a Test may thought they would struggle in.

So it seems a few months after an external review was launched into Warwickshires poor performances in recent seasons the performance director has left for personal reasons. Getting out before he's pushed?

Although I've learnt on here in the past few weeks that a performance director, good or bad, has zero impact on performance and can't be blamed for anything :ROFLMAO:

The timings of things seem to be all over the place let Benjamin a keeper go and then Burgess retires and then this guy who should be busy looking for new players goes.

whole thing's unbalanced on the recruitment side. Don't see any sort of balanced strategy (or even interest) for any form other than the T20 squad - maybe that's just a financial decision invest in those elements that produce the highest returns.
No-one can compete with Surrey's finances but we should be firmly at the topend of the level below them.

Something is very wrong at the club. The women’s side sums it up for me. ECB have made a big deal about rebranding as counties but we seem to have let all our best players leave and replaced them with inexperienced youngsters.

Going to do well to not be hammered every game which won’t do much to attract fans.

Keeping those players can’t take a lot of time or money but there seems to be zero interest from those in charge in the cricketing side of things.

Can't help thinking ECB just didn't want to do it or finance it themselves so just shifted it back to the counties.
If men's county cricket is basically funded by T20 income where are the women teams going to make money when ECB funding (1.3m per year) is pulled in 2028?

That's top bowling. This isn't a bad NZ batting line up. Bowlers making the most of conditions.

Comfortable win. Bethell holds that catch and Blundell was gone for 0 and it's an even bigger trouncing.
Way Australia have just dismantled India shows size of Ashes challenge
