If he plays Saturday he will have his work cut out for him defensively, those two wide men for Watford are rapid, I don't think we'll see the same performance as we did last night.

Giles was far better going forward I much preferred Giles in that 532’wing back role which looks set to return

Always felt Giles should’ve been moved further forward in certain situations/formations (two in three for Rotherham supports that) ....same with Dacosta, looks like he could also possibly play wide right with Dabo (after recovered) behind in a 442.

Only one half though, let’s hope he can continue with the same form...we’re going to need it !

4-4-2 you say.....now you're talking! :p

Dabo & DaCosta one side could wotk....sadly with Giles gone not sure who plays ahead of mcCallum on the left .....Shipley hmm not for me.
Sadly unless you play COH out wide with Giles now gone 4-4-2 as a formation seems very unlikely/impossible now with squad limitations.....could Jobello play wide left maybe?

442 is never happening at this level in this league it will get danced around and we will be relegated quick

Give it a rest about 442 mate we’re not in the 90’s

@Esoterica

I’ll also say if he carries on like that dabo won’t get back into the side
Of course Dabo will come back in, as they say one swallow doesn’t make a summer I’d wager they could both play either one ahead of the other, on Tuesdays showing DaCosta looks he could do a job ploughing through the middle but it’s early days and only one game we will have to see how he fairs.
Funny frustratingly we have had to wait six months to see what he is like and it looks positive, so let’s give Hilsner a decent chance when he returns.

I didn't think he was as great as people made him out to be. They were very favourable circumstances for him and don't think he was in control of a thing he did ball at feet. Only a couple of the crosses were actually decent too, half the time he was just kicking it as hard as he could into the box.
This sounds like it was written by a baseball fan

He was probably man of the match today for his second half performance, but the circumstances were very favourable for him, he had no defending to all at all, and had free run on the wing. Got a few good balls in, but also wasted a few crosses too.

We will only see how good he is when he plays against good wingers and has to defend for long periods.

Did he have wasted crosses? I don’t remember any

Erm Watford play 4-4-2 most of the time currently and they are not doing too badly,,,,,,better than we are with our fancy formations anyhow!

Agree with this bit (in terms of Forest giving him space), but most of the first time stuff he hit across I was impressed with, as on that pitch I would have expected a fair percentage to get skewed out of play or mishit. He may have had a lucky day in terms of crossing (albeit we didn't get on the end of them) but I thought his delivery was very good.

DaCosta was a bright light on a poor day, he is supposed to be as good at Lwb need to see him tested defensively that should happen Saturday

Watford play 4-4-2 so two wide men will push our wing backs back in all probability.

If he starts it is far more of a yardstick to judge him by than a 45 minute cameo where largely the oppo sat back and gave him the entire wing!
I think his effectiveness will be vastly reduced on Saturday by the oppo's 4-4-2 formation but I hope I'm wrong!

I think 4-4-2 would be effective against us as it puts our wingbacks under massive pressure and makes us more susceptible to a breakaway if they're upfield. Sure, we got that extra man in the middle which we can take advantage of but if we don't stick our chances away it won't help.

Player for player Watford are a better team than us so if they play it I think it'll work for them.

*This doesn't mean I think we should play 4-4-2, esp with the players we currently have available.

To be honest, despite his horror show in the first 20 minutes at Norwich, he grew into that game, and was really effective in the 2nd half. Good crisp passer, and can beat a man. No better than Dabo, but certainly on a par. His performance on Tuesday was outstanding. Just wish he was a left footer, Da Costa & Dabo as wing backs would be great.

I thought he did well to get into a great position to cross but he pings them in first time without taking a look or just taking another touch to steady the cross. He had time to actually lift his head but he pinged them in randomly hoping someone was going to get on the end off the ball. At least he showed energy on what was a poor night by our standards.
