While that's true, they won't, in equal stead you have to wonder whether the club could even afford to put them on new contracts anyway. O'Hare and Hamer's contracts are already apparently unsustainable and even with Hyam now gone wages will likely still be in or around 100% of turnover.

It won't be a good thing if we're doing it on a minimal budget. Trying to build virtually an entire squad on free transfers and out of contract players won't be easy.

Yeah this is what people are seemingly forgetting. Building an entire new squad will be an incredibly challenging and expensive ordeal, and there's still the matter of operational costs to cover and the EFL loan to consider.

It seems most see keeping the big 3 as a good result. If we were staying true to our model then we should have been looking to sell one of Hamer, CoH or Vic early. Part goes to the club with the rest used to purchase 2 or 3 new permanent signings who continue the process. I know I'm probably on my own with this, but I wouldn't have minded if one went and MR had the chance to reinvest as that is a sustainable model. The fact we've not sold one has probably held our window back and we've been left selling Hyam to plug the finances. Ideally we'd keep them and add to them, but with our owners we have no money and need to be more savy. With so many games the squad can't revolve around just 3 players. We were lucky last season in relation to injuries to the 3. Already this season we've lost CoH long term, Hamer and Vic both look of the pace with rumours they are both not happy.

The sale of Hyam wouldn't have plugged the shortfall this season at all.
The club will likely look to January to attempt to leverage a significant sale/s.
Having to build a squad from scratch is hardly a desirable place to be. I shudder to think how we’ll handle that.
And yes we could always sell in January - but by then we may not be able to afford to sell (because we’re in a dogfight) or to buy (because replacements will be costly).
We had the time and opportunity to be calculated this summer - to keep most of the squad together, to make a big sale and kickstart another rebuild. We don’t have that anymore.

Come next summer I would be quite happy to sell Gyokeres, Hamer, and O'Hare. Would also sell Moore, Bidwell, Reid, Sheaf, Allen, Palmer, Godden, and Tavares. Would not renew any contracts. Think we can start fresh, give the youth a chance next season. Coventry born. Get some real passion in the team. Thats what we need. Bring back our own Roy Keane in Ivor Lawton and build the team around him.
I would hope we'd have learnt from the likes of Waghorn. We should be able to pay for a few signings using parts of wages saved especially if from lower leagues as they will demand lower wages.
Worth remembering there's the wages of Hillsner, Dacosta, Walker and probably others than are completely wasted now as they don't even get in the squad that will be able to be used.

It’s quite a lot of wages freed up and a good amount of transfer revenue brought in at once which could offset slightly reduced fees given their contracts. Then recruit hard on lower league or foreign prospects, sprinkled with a few decent loans. I’m not saying that’s easy but it’s what we’d need to do anyway to develop players for the next big sales.
Just from rough calculations, even those you have as released frees up around 55-60k a week so around 3m a year. So important we get recruitment right next summer. But most importantly stay up first

It sort of makes sense not to move in the window if what money you have is limited. Finding the best FA signings out there or letting a contracted player know you have a deal for them if they were a free agents, is being creative. We have done it before and im sure it will be done again.
Free agents will now be actively looking to get back in and settled at clubs. And i see MR using this option, i cant honestly see MR not having things lined up. He was probably told the situation and picked this options as the best path to go down.
As for the owners, god, they do know how to piss on a parade, don't they. Every chance they have to get it right they balls it up with false promises, false dawns and lies. Fans will not forgive them for the horse shit they spread. They will say but the big 3..... but in reality we all know fate has played a bigger part in this, than them in keeping the 3 together. Its time they understood the excuses are wearing thin, the blame game is fading fast and the false promises are all being exposed.
Fans will back the players and manager to the moon a back, because they have shown passion and commitment to the club. In my opinion the owners have shown nothing but contempt and disrespect to the fans and club, which is something that has always been there. Its a shame we are now limited by those who helped us gain this momentum, it's a shame they have nothing more to give, but just to ask us to give for them to pick the limit we can enjoy and what they take take. Lets hope MR did have a plan and free agency was part of it. Time will tell, long way to go but we are a long way behind..

I think you're massively oversimplifying it personally. It's certainly not improbable that Robins/Badlan could facilitate a competitive re-build, but I'm finding it difficult to see it as a total positive.
From your estimations alone the club would likely need over at least 12 new signings - and like you inferred it's difficult to predict who will be kept and who will be retained as it's too far in advance. Players could fall completely out of favour, suffer serious injury, or conversely bring themselves back into consideration.
The cost of that is going to be fairly sizeable though even with the number of players out of contract, as even free agents, who will actually have the ability to make a meaningful impact at this level, will not only demand sizeable wages but also a respectable signing on fee. Acquiring new players isn't a cheap process, certainly not at this level, and hidden fees such as increased agent costs will have to be taken into account as well.
And again, and I must stress, the £2.2m EFL loan is due for repayment in June 2024 and therefore the club will have that firmly in mind when strategising the rebuild.

This is spot on. Was at Fulham away towards the end of the season . We outplayed, out thought, and out bullied them. I was full of optimism after that game. Record season ticket sales going into this one ...who knew what was about to happen. I can just about handle the pitch debacle and the O'Hare injury but the Owners lack of ambition is the killer blow here .
They haven't given one shred of hope or a rallying cry for the fans . When some on here said at the end of last season we'd reached our ceiling I didn't believe them. Or I just didn't want to believe them.
