Up this week for the scout is Rangers' John Fleck who was recommended by Sky Sports reader Stewart Johnsen.

The scout reports...

John Fleck has long been tipped to make a big impact at Rangers and he is now starting to show that could be a huge star of the future.

The nephew of former Rangers star Robert, Fleck was long talked about because of his family connections - but he is now showing that he could very well be something special.

A muscular forward is very similar in build and style to Wayne Rooney, which has seen the media draw similarities between the duo, and Fleck himself admits he would love to become Scotland's version of the Manchester United star.

He has been in and around the first-team squad since he was 16 and became the youngest-ever player to appear in a British Cup final when he came on as a substitute in Rangers' 2008 Scottish Cup victory over Queen of the South.

He has benefited from the Rangers staff nurturing him rather than throwing him in straight away. He fired his first goal for the club in January and now looks set to compete for a regular starting berth.

Indeed, his impact with the Rangers first-team has seen calls for his inclusion in Scotland's senior squad - despite being just 17.

The scout says...

Fleck has benefited from Walter Smith's guidance, he has not been rushed and is now coming through at a steady pace - although he could very well make it impossible for him not to be a first-team regular within the next few months.

The next few years will be vital for Fleck and will show whether he will be able to live up to his tag of one of the best young players in Europe - a label not many young Scottish players have had in recent times.

Chief Commentator!
Let's give the guy a chance if he comes before we start judging people on their past! We need bodies in, he fits the type of player we need, young etc, and is a striker. Everyone knows we need players in and we're not going to be signing top quality players for a very long time!

Saying that I do recall having him on loan on football manager and he was shite, but I will forget all about that if he does the business in real life

Can't be bothered to read it all but are we REALLY being linked with Fleck? SERIOUSLY?!? 'Cos he WILL be our best player by a country mile if we do get him! But I assume the thread is a bit tongue in cheek, as he's way too good for L1.

I remember last season he nearly join Sheff Utd on a season long loan but the paper work didn't go through in time, I was surprised when I heard that a year ago as I thought he would be too good for league 1 also.

And yes we have really been linked with him, the telegraph reports we were talking to him yesterday and another article said we were in 'advanced' discussions.

He would be an improvement on the current bunch that's for sure-would actually be fairly impressive if we pulled it off!

A bit tasty on FM too, come to mention it.

He had potential of 160+ a few years back in it: that's better than any present Scotland player. But they based that on the buzz coming out of Scottish football about the kid. Still don't really believe it, tbh, but if we do pull it off, I might have to take a few things back that I've said about SISU: he won't come cheap.

If he rejects the newco transfer he'll be a free agent along with a high number of other Gers players. Some real bargains if we acted quickly.

Having watched him play for Rangers several times, he really isnt that good as people are making him out to be. When he burst up on the scene he was hailed as the 'Scottish Rooney' now three years later he has still yet to realise his potential.

Still, am hopeful he signs for us, fresh start may be a good idea for him.

Yeah but "unfulfilled Scottish Rooney" and "the potential to be one of the best players in Europe" really is a miles away from "L2 journeyman Bosman rejects Sky Blues for L1 rivals"!

As for Eastwood, CCFCway-Eastwood was potentially a good Championship player, not potentially a top international player.

When do tomorrow's papers put their stories on their websites like what happened with this story last night? We may see a development if we are in "advanced stages"

I'd heard good things about Fleck and was a little surprised to see him plying his trade (often off the bench?) last season at Blackpool, thinking that he may have been offering something to Rangers by that stage. Haven't seen much of him in action, but definitely not the sort of name I would be anything but delighted to see arrive. However, I'm so disheartened about Coventry that, despite just buying my season ticket, I won't believe a single thing until he has played four games for us in the League.

No, I would need to see four League games. Following this, he would have to post me a photo of him wearing a Coventry top, with his contract in one hand and a newspaper with date in the other. With a West Midlands post mark on the envelope.

The rumour was right about Jamie Ness signing for stoke as he has just signed a 4 year contract so I hope his one is true Aswell.

Where would he play?

I've read he can play: Left wing, behind the strikers and as a striker?

Any ideas where his natural/best position is?!!!

Hope we get this guy heard good things from him from a rangers fan he's better as a winger but can play upfront he's got a bit of pace and isn't afraid of taking players on. Pace is what we need on the wings if he signed it would be a massive coup for the club Pusb!

I guess that could work, only if we bring in a decent all round striker that can play the target man role too. Cody would be ineffective as a lone striker IMO

They'll find the Loch Ness Monster before we sign someone...

Losing out to Barnsley when trying to sign players. It never used to be like this in my day! FFS!

Don't forget they "blew us out of the water" financially last season! I think they've just sank our battleship...
