Really? Or is it just people with different opinions arguing about a relatively opaque situation that they feel passionate about?

Nicely put. You can have one of these...

I agree, but would add the need for a high quality left back.

Everything on this forum lately seems to be based on the idea that the squad is terrible. It's not. We are stuttering at least in part because the recruitment wasn't completed in the summer.

This was the 2nd fuck up the past summer for me after we binned a done deal with Browne for Stamenic

Sam McCallum wanted to come back, we spoke to him, was pretty close to happening, and then for some unbeknown reason we decided to bin that off and proceed with Bidwell (who i still rate btw) and DaSilva

If we had decided to not fuck them 2 about, McCallum and Browne in this squad, on free transfers btw, are in the starting 11 every day of the week

The constant making out that Robins chose which players came in even though he stated in the press that it was a big change at the club that he didn't choose the players anymore?

Saying Robins didn't choose the players isn't an opinion. It's a fact. But people like yourself try to word it differently. And yes we are all passionate about this because look at where it has left us.

You’re welcome to your own opinions but not your own facts. I’m calling out factual errors and getting back emotional rants and insults. I’ve been here before. I know what’s going on.

I can't remember reading about Robin's saying that , where did he say that , on TV, radio or local rag ?

Don't start looking for the pity party. You're better than that. I didn't imagine quotes from the past that were shared on here where Robins said he had final say. If that changed this summer, fine. Austin will cop more blame if things don't improve.

It’s not just that. There have been loads of attempts to gaslight everyone into thinking Robins wasn’t actually that good. Mainly by the same people as well, who then propose that it’s everyone else who has ‘an agenda’.

Im not looking for pity. Just calling it how I see it as always. If people can make arguments without relying on making things up then they’re welcome to.

That is the most frustrating part that we pissed so much money up the wall but there were players available on a free such as Browne, McCallum and Tyrese Campbell.

Our summer recruitment compared to the likes of Sheff Utd is chalk and cheese and I even remember getting frustrated we wouldn’t spend a couple of mil on the likes of Cooper or Burrows but we’d be happy to spend it on dross.

I mean, thank you for your service I guess, but if you think an Andy Turner op-ed piece is going to decide once and for all the truth about Coventry City’s recruitment structure under Mark Robins then I have some bad news about your truth-telling quest. We’re all feeding off scraps here, and there is no concerted campaign of misinformation on either side that you have to go to war with.

It’s the best info we’ve got and I posted in reply to someone saying multiple people had proven beyond doubt robins had the final say. I posted what we’ve got which doesn’t suggest that and got back “I dunno ask someone else”

Yesterday it was “Lampard finally dropped Collins and gave Dovin a chance unlike Robins” when Robins never played Collins and dropped Dovin less in 14 games than Lampard has in 8.

Earlier it was claims we all know Robins and Austin are best mates. Again no proof for it.

I’m not providing a service, I’m arguing my corner then saying what I see when the likes of cc4l start calling me drunk for it.

If you don’t want me to reply saying something isn’t true don’t post things that aren’t true I guess?

Pity party? Look at how many state Robins has chosen the players since King took over when the truth is there for all to see. And us regressing happened at the same time. We have missed out on good players because they didn't fit in with the way our club is now run. And it most probably cost Robins his job.

It seems Austin is getting protected by King as he doesn't want to admit he has fucked up. So things might not change in a hurry unless Lampard is given more of a say.

As I said earlier look at King praising the fitness of our players because of our new fitness coach. Then one of the first comments from Lampard was how unfit our players were when he took over.

Either he is covering up for them or he just doesn't have a clue.

I must admit that did make me laugh. People going to games and not even noticing who was in goal.

I mean, as far as I’m concerned, go off King (pun intended).

I just think it’s better that if people post stuff you dispute or disagree with, you don’t automatically assume that it’s some sort of “concerted” psy-op campaign backed by either the CIA or the Redknapps.

Oh, f*ck off.

If you're gonna put words in my mouth and twist what I wrote then there's no point engaging. You're choosing to ignore loads of things I said to paint yourself as the voice of truth that nasty people are ganging up on. Pointless.

Just accept you got caught. It’s ok my brother, defeat comes for us all. Lay low, regroup, we continue the fight against Robins in the morning. You know in your heart we will prevail, brother.

It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't continue when the evidence is put there in front if them. But they spent so much time saying Robins had to go because our success was down to others who are no longer at our club that it's too late to back down from it.

I suppose if Robins is a success at Stoke it will be down to those working with him and not Robins himself. And yes of course I want Lampard to succeed with us and not like them same people have tried to say I would love Lampard to fail.

If I’m misremembering then fair enough but that’s how it came across. Happy to accept I’m on a hair trigger about this shit at the moment.

He isn't trying to put words into your mouth. It's just how stupid this place has gone since Robins got the push.

The link is in this thread.
The article you linked says this :-
Robins explained: “My involvement in transfers now is to have an involvement in choosing the players coming in and who departs, mostly, so it’s set up differently now and that’s fine because we are trying to evolve and I literally can’t do everything anymore because it’s impossible."

So this whole tedious argument hinges on how anyone chooses to interpret what Robins means by 'involvement'. Nobody on here really knows, and I dare say it was a different level of 'involvement' from one transfer to another.

I don’t think anyone is arguing Robins wasn’t involved. The question was does he have the final say. Or rather is it proven conclusively that he did. Which was the claim.

Full choice to involvement. This changed at the same time we didn't cover all positions on the pitch.

We've started the last two seasons light in certain positions. Nobody would dare say differently as they say it out loud themselves. Coincidence?

Let's put it another way. Is anyone happy with our recruitment since we got Austin as head of recruitment?

Easy to say how shit they all are when confidence is shot. We’ve signed some good players for this league and some real potential.

Whoever decided on the transfer policy of only signing potential is the issue. No leadership or experience at all.

Same reason Chelsea were shit for 2 years - you can’t just sign a load of young players with ability because once their heads drop they can’t get out of it.

The problem is King is a successful business man. He knows how to run a successful business. The problem is a football club isn't a business. It's a way of life. But it comes with the promise of a massive fortune that comes with promotion to the Prem.

If you won the lottery would you risk it on getting promoted to the Prem? I wouldn't but would donate a fair bit.

It's easy for us to have a go at King but it isn't our money at risk. As the famous saying goes the easiest way of becoming a millionaire at football is to start off being a billionaire.

Thought about and would have years ago but not now, I would be a terrible investor/owner and couldn’t be bothered with the day to day shit and fans saying keep investing you tight arse.
