Despite the bravado shows on here, I wonder how many of our rivals would swap places with us? Some of the comments have been highly disrespectful of teams around us.
If Burton win all their remaining games they will be champions - FACT. If you disagree with that you are simply wrong. So... Is our destiny in our own hands? Yes or No?
It's clearly NO, to anyone educated.
Yes, all teams will drop points but that's not the point of the phrase.
Firstly the top 2 get automatic promotion which is what this was about, so we can finish behind Burton and still be automatically promoted. So Burton could win every game and we could still be automatically promoted in your scenario.
And yes, our destiny is in our own hands. If we reach 95 points, we will go up automatically, no doubt about that.
If you start getting hung up on what could theoretically happen then you could make an argument that Crewe could still get promoted as they can still reach 83 points this season. Obviously realistically there is 0% chance that Crewe will be promoted but in theory it could happen.
Feck me this thread is hard work.....

....... Fleck could well go and the others are as likely to let their players go as we are of letting Maddison go. We're totally in the same position as the other clubs...if they or we get a good offer for one of our better players, then they'll be sold.
Just because we're Coventry City doesn't mean we won't lose players whilst others do. Strange thing to say unless I've misunderstood? ......
We can reach 105 points maximum, the only way our destiny would categorically be out of our hands would be if you believe 2 teams can get over 105 points at the end of the season. Now theoretically this could happen but in reality it has 0% of happening.
I get the concept but its not one worth considering as its based on scenarios which have no chance of happening, your saying we could win every game and not get promoted. In theory you are right but in the real world where football is played you are wrong.
If we reach 95 points, which is within our own destiny to make happen. Then we go up automatically. 100%
As I say, both correct.I have no argument with any of that apart from your insistence that it is ''in our own hands''. You clearly do not understand the phrase. (or percentages)

Silly getting in an argument about it surely. Literally of course no it is not in our hands and everyone agrees with that.Obviously a bit dim, or doesn't understand basic English. He/she doesn't seem to grasp that it's nothing to do with what could happen, it's to do with the meaning of a few basic english words that make up a factual phrase.
In our hands means that no matter what other teams do we can still gain promotion e.g. we're top of the league and everybody has to better us. Promotion is not 'in our hands', if we win all of our remaining games then 99.9% of the time we will be promoted, however if Walsall and Burton also win all of their games then we will end up 3rd.
We are however capable of gaining promotion by putting the hard work in and gaining more points than the teams above us for the rest of the season. I understand the point you're trying to make but your use of the phrase 'in our hands' is incorrect.

We win enough games though you have to believe we will go up.

Wallsall play Burton next month so fact definite points dropped by one or the other or both. Fact.
Not even my wife rouses me any more.Tell that to CCFC! There shouldn't be an argument but because it is not a matter of opinion, but there you go.
Anyhow Otis, I've seen you argue the toss when roused!
I'm saying it is in our own hands because if we win all our remaining games then 100% of the time we will be promoted.
So do you, we're both stupid for having this discussion it seems. You seem, well... cocksure.
Sam I dint understand why you being so pedantic?
We all know what he means. Sort our own form out and we can get promoted

Scenario.
If City were to win 5 games on the bounce now, or 5 out of 6 (next 6 games are Southend A, Scunthorpe H, Port Vale A, Bury H, Shrewsbury A, Fleetwood H) then you would have to think we would be in the top 2 or very, very close to top 2.
We have a brilliant last half of the season you would have to think we would go up!
