To be fair the police could easily be involved and check if it’s legitimate
No one is saying it’s not wrong it’s just why tweet rather than go to the police
To undermine labour
If it happened it’s wrong it’s not proven with that tweet is it
Thank goodness Labour never undermine Tories.

Looking forward to the Libel suit.

I wonder who has leaked the chats and why. By no means defending any of these wankers but I doubt very much they are any different from most MPs on all sides.
But labour are going to maintain the highest standards in public office! So they have set themselves up as being “ holier” than all the rest.

These are the principles/ standards they should be upholding :-

- honesty, integrity, objectivity, accountability, selflessness, openness and leadership

Fail

I doubt you would have been making such a comment if it was the other way round, I.e. Labour accused of rigging the vote. It is part of what makes me so angry, the majority of posters on here are Labour supporters (as is to be expected), but practically none of you can see beyond your brainwashed dogma. Labour can do no wrong because they are determined to maintaining the highest standards in public office. And failing.

Gwynne involved again.
No I wouldn't. I am not a labour supporter, didn't vote for them at the last election. Have no time for the people involved in it but can still see things for what they are.

Do you actually read my posts? I'm probably one of the most Labour critical posters on here

Reading your posts is one thing, remembering them is another.

IIRC you work in NHS Supply Chain

The thing is, I’m in such a minority that I feel constantly under attack and the post I responded too seemed very defensive of Labour - which led me to believe that you are part of that cohort which will never accept that the Labour Party can do any wrong.

They can, as can the Tories and NHS Supply Chain.

But that's like the thing with the 'British culture' thread. You're seeing an attack that largely isn't there.

I'd say there's only been one poster on here who has vociferously defended Labour since they got to power - I'm not a Labour supporter and have no party allegiance at all, but I would consider myself on the left of the political spectrum. A lot of us 'lefties' on here have been pretty critical about a lot this govt has done, especially policy, communication, delivery and even stuff like the freebie shit. But with the corruption stuff it;s still way less than what was going on before.

And maybe that's why replies may seem a bit defensive, or an attack on you, because you bring all of this up constantly, even really minor things, and say how terrible it is yet under 14 years of far worse not a peep. Your outrage is clearly driven by political persuasion rather than on actual actions and people will respond to that strongly.

I'd love you to be fed a bunch of headlines but with the party name randomised and see how you'd respond to each.

And there are a number of people on your side of the political divide on here that show strong support for conservative, right wing policies and values.

In fairness to him most have given up and it can be a bit of an echo chamber.

Also, I'm not sure the defence of 'yeah we're bad but not as bad as the last lot' is going far enough. It might be a step change, but it needs to go much further.

I agree. As I said 'we've' been critical of Labour since they came into power, including to some extent with gifts etc.

If someone wants to say they want and expect better from their leaders then I wholeheartedly agree. But at the same time if they're going to claim this huge outrage they also need to acknowledge that this is still far better than it was under previous govts that they would more likely be politically aligned to. Without that balance all it seems it like a politically motivated rant.

I think in terms of regular posters the actual numbers on each 'side' are relatively even overall, but maybe those on the left will reply/post more often on the subject. Why that is I can't say. Maybe it's because we have a set of beliefs and ideas that don't see the light of day in the real world and so that frustration is vented on places like this. Even under a Labour govt we're seeing a continuation of right wing ideas and places like America don't have a left wing - they have a moderate right that are depicted as woke, leftist commies and even more so at the current time.

A very small number of people on “my side of the political divide”.😂

shmmeee will jump in and defend Labour’s actions in relation to the winter fuel allowance, probably making multiple references to Elton John, somehow Rod Stewart never gets mentioned. The freebies will be defended on the assumption that LordAli cannot possibly want anything in return as he is already a peer.

We now have the issue about the voice / presentation coach - all part of an image makeover which is failing as Starmer remains a really poor and uninspiring speaker and Leader. I’ve been quite clear that I can’t stand him.

I have worked with / for leaders who I cant stand, but I have been able to recognise that they speak well, and provide some inspirational energy rather than boring the team / audience to death. I don’t think I have hated many in the political sphere as much as I do Starmer. Corbyn, obviously. Milliband. Brown. Blair. Kinnock. Nicola Sturgeon.

Restoring an edit I thought I had made immediately after the original post , Osborne, Ken Clark, Theresa May. (She was Even less inspirational than Starmer), Jeremy Hunt

I’m very surprised, more than I thought.

Quentin Letts describes Keith Starmer as looking like a "shocked toilet brush".
Who walks like he is "cracking walnuts with his arse cheeks".

Anyway it's Bobby Thomas day !!!

OMFG quoting Quentin Letts now! He is such a posh idiot who offers no genuine political analysis whatsoever, just talking about Starmer's hair and bum.... weirdo.

Do you not see the irony in making this statement whilst only piping up about government standards and performance since, oh I don't know, July '24?

Badenoch says there are serious questions being asked about the attorney general, and that even Labour ministers are concerned.

She says the government is recruiting a chief inspector of borders who lives in Finland and wants to work from home. She asks why the British public should put up with this.

Starmer says the individual in question was appointed in 2019 by the last government to a senior position, who worked for five years from Finland.

He says they have changed this so they will now work from the UK.
How is she so bad at this 😂 😂 😂

Its frightening. This should be concerning for everyone though, whatever their political persuasion. Unless the Tories get some decent new blood in prominent positions over the coming years, it leaves the door wide open for Reform. Not that they’ve got anyone decent themselves but they aren’t tarnished by the recent past like the Tories (possible racist social media comments aside !)

There just seems a dearth of good quality politicians across the political spectrum these days, both here and abroad…or certainly ones that get into the senior/more prominent positions. Strange times

Saw an interview with Kinnock a while back. His comment was that in his day you could disagree with another MP but you could have a civil conversation with them and they were capable of arguing their position and you came away with the impression that no matter how much you disagreed you felt they were doing what they personally thought was best for the country.

You absolutely can not say the same of the current crop of MPs from all parties. There's only a tiny handful of MPs you'd have any confidence were doing or saying anything for reasons other than self interest.

The job is shit. Pay is crap and it consumes your life and leads to your family getting death threats plus you have to spend most of your time in London. Also politics just does less these days than 50+ years ago as so much is globalised and down to things outside of your control. So all that’s left are people who can’t get an average job in London, and have spent so long delivering leaflets the local party thinks it’s their go. Labour has lost all union leader talent and the Tories talent seems to go where the money is leaving a bunch of head bangers and people running shitty online businesses at best.

I have never voted labour but was willing to give them a chance to make some changes but fuck me pretty well most of their decisions have been unpopular and will effect me personally even though i am retired and old - Milliband is especially a twat who just lives up his own arse as he talks utter shit continually - Reeves will be defined by how long she lasts - even Truss fired Kwarteng to save her skin temporarily

What changes did you hope or expect them to make in their first 6 months in office? Genuine question.

i expected some tax changes but not take away the fuel allowance - i also expected them to reign in the foreign spend and take a bit more notice about whats going on here rather than Starmer travelling the world in his own self importance - being part of the farming community i didnt expect them to kill 20% of the family farms within 10 years as they had said growth was the aim and clearly thats not the case - i also expected there to be less sleaze and no avoidance of some pretty key issues but some have been swept under the table and some of the party members seem to be as low on morals as the Tories

Is it actually a step change?

They have had 14 years in opposition to deliver a coherent plan for change that could be supported by the country. Trump had what - a third of that? Trump campaigned on what he actually intended to do, and has already set about doing it. Starmer campaigned in a set of platitudes, mendacity and dissembling which 20% of the electorate swallowed whole.

Given that lies and platitudes can’t be implemented, they are now either implementing things that have come as a surprise to the electorate or setting up review groups to look at things they should have been planning over the previous 14 years.

In terms of the start of my raising issues in here, I’m afraid I was triggered at first by the ludicrous suggestion of giving schoolchildren the vote. This was reinforced by the WFA decision and is continually underlined by what seems to be going on around energy and Ed Milliband’s naivety. The unholy trinity of Starmer, Reeves and Rayner are a constant irritant. There appearance and presentational style are boring, uninspiring and continue to be full of platitudes.

I agree, this place is largely an echo chamber and, foolishly no doubt, I decided just to raise stuff that would be ignored. The problem is that, as I am becoming acutely aware, I have been driven far further right than I would have imagined possible, by some of the dogmatic responses clearly based purely on political persuasion, added to the general tone of ageist anti boomer agenda (go back through some of those that blame boomers for all the ills of todays society and replace the word “boomer” for, say,”Muslim” and you may see what I mean.

Badenoch is cocking it up big time at the moment. Attacking this government for the outcomes of the last governments decisions is pretty poor and her researchers really ought to be sacked. On the other hand, Starmer will be more than happy to claim credit for any successes that accrue from previous governments decisions.

Government handover is very different in the US and the UK and being out of power four years is very different from being out of power 14 years.

You can’t really plan 14 years ahead, especially when your plans are more than “let your rich mates do whatever they want”.

Odd that, I had edited that post fairly quickly to add some Tories in to it. I must have omitted pressing save. I’m sorry, shmmeee, but I have re-edited the original post to reflect the below.

while I’m here, Osborne, Ken Clark, Theresa May. (Even less inspirational than Starmer).
Jeremy Hunt, Andrew Landsley.

You will notice several ex Secretary of State for Health holders there.

Mind you, you would say that your comment still stands.
