We shouldn't be investing in nuclear (as it is) at all. It's a massive, massive problem down the line with the fuel waste and the effects of a potential disaster.
But, hey, that won't be in your lifetime, so who cares, right...?
Rubbish - you've been watching too much Sky Atlantic
The good news is that this is what will really result in the end of this Government. Its all good news today.
So we just go from one crisis to another. Tackle the energy crisis by adding to the climate crisis. So characteristic of this Government. No foresight.I do agree that we should scrap VAT and the green levy on fuel bills to balance it out as much as possible but in the end this will be a reality for many other aspects of our lives. I think I read some countries in Europe - Denmark being the worst - have had even higher increases - we have not invested sufficiently in nuclear power to mitigate the need for gas fired electricity
Disagree here. The chances of disaster with modern reactors is low. And yeah it’s kicking the can with the waste problem, but the only way out of this is to kick the can really.
My bills are going up to £420 a month I think I might now be officially in fuel poverty
Finally some good news. Traders are betting on interest rates hitting 1.5% by the end of the year.
Cost-of-living crisis: Bank warns of biggest squeeze on family finances for 30 years
British families are facing the biggest squeeze on living standards for 30 years as surging prices and tax rises take their toll.www.telegraph.co.uk
Doesn't matter. Still be another Tory one after. Same bunch of clowns, just a different ringmasterThe good news is that this is what will really result in the end of this Government.
But unfortunately people will have to suffer first.

Let's be honest - this is the reason the world is fucked and will continue to be until we get rid of the obsession with economics and financial trading.
If you can make money by being able to bet on something getting worse then it shouldn't be allowed, cos it gives you an incentive to try to make that worse thing happen. I can't take out insurance on a random house/car because of it, so why the fuck can people do it when the consequences will be felt by millions.
No I mean the downfall of the Tories not just the current PM. If Sunak takes over the half price pizza two years ago isn't going to be enough in the face of this. If it's Truss..... well what can I say?Doesn't matter. Still be another Tory one after. Same bunch of clowns, just a different ringmaster
Why? I'm not wrong am I.You really need to go and get some therapy
Of course the chances are low, but it's a cumulative probability. It only has to happen once an a large area is fucked for generations. And you know full well what we're like with upkeep costs on infrastructure in this country. Fuck that, let's give a massive wedge to the shareholders instead. The when it becomes a massive problem we'll just let it be nationalised and let the public purse pay for it.
Fact is the money we've spunked on nuclear and keeping gas/coal going over the years would have been sufficient to have had a viable renewable energy network in place by now. So we wouldn't be talking about needing to scrap green levies, or wholesale gas prices, or being bent over by the oil cartels and having to ignore all sorts of human rights abuses because it'd all be irrelevant and we'd have a much healthier environment to live in to boot. Those that are complaining about how the green levy is making energy unaffordable are making it that way because they refuse to give up antiquated energy sources out of financial self-interest.
I'd love you to be right but I can't see it. It'll damage them a bit but they'll be quick to push the "new leader, new Tories" mantra and sadly far too many people will fall for it.No I mean the downfall of the Tories not just the current PM. If Sunak takes over the half price pizza two years ago isn't going to be enough in the face of this. If it's Truss..... well what can I say?
I'm not fussed about the disasters, I am fussed about storing the waste! The last serious nuclear disaster was Fukushima 11 years ago, you can go and visit it now. And we aren’t likely to be hit number an earthquake or a tsunami any time soon. This is all hangover from a generation ago when plants weren’t as safe.
What we should’ve done is go harder on nuclear instead of transitioning to gas.

Not that I particularly fancy the disaster angle either, mind you...
I am pretty fussed about disasters. The numbers are small but the impact catastrophic.I'm not fussed about the disasters, I am fussed about storing the waste!

More rats leaving the sinking ship. Poor Boris.
Yeah, some of her own comments on various things are coming to light and she’s said some pretty questionable things herself so this hardly seems to be a new found sense of decency. You can be pretty naive, this isn't some noble act just Tory rats positioning.
Stupid is as stupid does.Taking action that will likely lead to an election you get trounced in is a brave move by the DUP
