I tend to agree!
tbf, nobody has *really* gone after him for that in the same way Johnson, which shows the wider context. And I'm still cynical enough to wonder if it was something Johnson said on his form that got Sunak the fine, along the lines of taking down a possible leadership rival.
Sounds like there was a deliberate attempt to not assist Sue Grey. Sue Grey saying she was disappointed to only learn about some parties through reports in the press. Can’t help but feel that there’s still more parties to come out of the woodwork. Death by a thousand cuts for Boris. Can’t see this being the end of it.
Sue Grey has also uncovered clear evidence through emails that people were arranging these events. Did the Met prosecute anyone for arranging them? I remember people getting fined thousands for arranging events, unless I’ve missed it not seen that anyone has been fined for arranging events. Surely they must have been because apparently the Met aren’t bent.
tbf had Sunak gone, you'd have thought he'd have taken johnson with him at that stage. Guess that was worth a punt.Haha, I did wonder that myself !
Labour did call for Sunak to resign at the time which as I said felt a bit OTT and as you say, probably a bit premature with how things have panned out since
Johnsons crime sheet, one FPN or not, is a totally different matter

Surprised they didn't find any gear
Rules are for the plebs.
Someone has just made the point that work event or party is irrelevant. At the time they happened neither were allowed under the rules. The defence Boris seems to be using is that they were work events. It’s not really a defence at all.Amusing put-down of Peter Bone the other day.
Missed a trick not casting Matt Lucas as Boris. Either him or an albino honey monster. What the hell
Even Dan Hodges knows it's a total stitch up
Absolutely. I’ve never understood why that seems to be accepted as an excuse along with the “we’d been working extremely hard” line.Someone has just made the point that work event or party is irrelevant. I really don't get this. The law was absolutely unambiguous and the people in charge of the Government were on television almost every night telling us how important it was to follow it.
The way to avoid a FPN isn't to use luck, it's to follow the law.
If Sunak or Johnson felt unfairly treated then they could have challenged the FPN. They didn't, so they've accepted that they broke the law.
The only question then is whether breaking the law, that you've said that it's so important that everyone else follows, is a resigning matter.
Labour says it is, and to his credit Starmer has said unequivocally that he would resign if he got an FPN. Why should we give Sunak a pass because he's been "unlucky"?
Top tip: Any time you get a laughing emoji from Grendel, you know you're onto a winner. Putting him on block was undoubtedly the single best thing I've ever done here, but it's great to know that he still reads my posts even though I can completely ignore his inane trolling.
Anyway, "Sir Beer Korma" and the occasional unfunny sneer is exactly the level of debate that Boris and his Tory lickspittles (Hi, G) want to drag it down to; anything more complex exposes their fundamental lack of knowledge and decency.
That’s it exactly. Drag it down to jokes and slurs because when the situation is indefensible that’s all you’ve got, isn’t it?Top tip: Any time you get a laughing emoji from Grendel, you know you're onto a winner. Shows they know they haven’t got a leg to stand on though and how completely lacking in decency they are. You wouldn’t trust them in any workplace but here they are running the country.
aye blocking him was a godsend, he is obsessed with me as wellTop tip: Any time you get a laughing emoji from Grendel, you know you're onto a winner. Exactly, that's the point!
If they can issue a fine for this how on earth can they not issue a fine for the leaving party that we saw yesterday? It's such blatant collusion.
It’s all very strange but if they were bent I’m sure they could’ve avoided issuing fines for that one pictured. I’d be livid if I was sunak as I think that was his only one…bit unlucky to say the least
Whats Dans view on Starmer and his korma and beer night?
Not sure that press conference helped. Telling people he did nothing wrong in saying goodbye to work colleagues while he banned you in law from saying goodbye to dying loved ones probably isn’t the look he should be going for right now.
aye blocking him was a godsend, he is obsessed with me as well
It’s just ignorance. Which in itself is a form of stupidity. So yeah, he’s a bit thick. It's amazing how bad he is at reading the room/mood.
To be honest I think he's just a bit thick and doesn't think about what he's saying or doesn't understand it.
