I'm thinking Henry VIII or Bablake with the fees Fernando quoted. No way my parents could afford those fees.Again, people seem to be thinking Private School = Eton or Harrow with that c**t who looks like him from the Beano strolling about.

So why are we saying some can, when actually the focus should be on the vast majority who can't!Nobody is saying everybody and anybody could though?

Some - a minority. Who are still pretty well off if they can afford to spare £13k pa extra in school fees per child! And in some cases it's what people prioritise and want to afford. (again, some)

Again, most just don't have £13k disposable income (and that's just for one child, apparently!). Well done you if you do! You name me four from council houses, I'll name you plenty who don;t have the option to downsize as they're already down.Or they decide to put their disposable income into it. I know 4 people from council houses who do it and one who sold their house and downsized massively to raise cash

By the looks of this board, I can't help but feel I should have been applying to the season ticket support fund(!)

I think that’s bollox it’s not the politics of envy there’s a middle ground, it’s abhorrent that we give charitable status to private education and leave rashford to embarrass the government to fund meal support. And yes there’s a question of religious institutions charitable status too you can throw in but to call it the politics of envy shows you hate starmerBut that’s not the point is it if they choose to spend every penny on bettering their children it’s a real positive surely.
Sorry this is a Rwanda style headline grab from Starmer - it’s envy politics- an us and then mentality and a case of let’s have a race to the bottom of the education ladder and everyone can get the same experience
All mine were state educated at primary level. Really nice schools as in a decent area.
State comp in an absolute dump area. Went there on an open day literally horrified and thought not a chance. Didn’t care what it cost - and it cost a lot of loans refinancing and parental help - but that wasn’t for me
Oh and yes this was in the halcyon days of Tony Blair.
Interesting too you bring him up as the investment in education in his and labours first term was significantBut that’s not the point is it if they choose to spend every penny on bettering their children it’s a real positive surely.

MadnessPatel is a truly awful witch. Vile woman.
A British resident who is stranded in Jamaica with her baby has been told by the Home Office the child cannot come to the UK because he has an “established life” on the Caribbean island.
Tiffany Ellis, 28, has indefinite leave to remain in the UK, where she has lived since the age of eight. She gave birth to Xien Ellis on 30 April last year in Jamaica and has been trying to return to the UK ever since.
In a letter of refusal of the baby’s visa application, Home Office officials say the decision is “justified by the need to maintain an effective immigration and border control” and will not have “unjustifiably harsh consequences”.
They add that the baby’s life can continue as it is now in Jamaica with financial support from his mother in the UK.

Genuine question, as much because I know you're quite passionate on animal rights. Would Jeremy Hunt's stance on fox hunting automatically stop you voting for the Conservatives if he became leader? What a man
It’s like no one wants to be associated with any of them and yet their still have been in power for 12 yearsPenny Mordaunt starts with the kind of attention to detail we're used to.

Jeremy Hunt's the sodding moderate nowadays! Are any of these clowns going to come up with a credible solution to the cost of living crisis or are they just going to try and out right wing each other?
