Pretty much everything is traded in dollars. From seeds to metals to frozen concentrated orange juice (the last one is for the film connoisseurs). From the minute you eat your breakfast to the second you switch your lights out before going to bed the exchange rate is effecting our lives.Oil for a start is traded in dollars. The weaker the pound the more expensive our fuel will be.
I can think of at least two things they can cut!Cut what?
It's our fault for just plodding along working and earning money when we should have been derivatives traders, tbf.Yep, just waiting for the emails...
They're coming, they can always find 'efficiencies' and have run on a campaign of a small state which basically means slashing swathes of services and the employees that deliver them. We'll also get the 'more with less' condescending horseshit that they're so fond of.Cut what? Not sure they can pull that one again even if they wanted.
Oh David I don’t need a thing explaining to me - this was a comment related to me and my circumstancesthis has been explained to him, he's been at the skol tonight and is looking for an argument
best to just chuckle at him
If it’s good enough for the numerous bars at Westminster it’s good enough for the WheatsheafAnd a subsidised bar at the Wheatsheaf?
This isn't tame at all. People have a lot less disposable income now than the ERM days. Wages are stagnant and everything is being ravaged by inflation. A lot of people are going to have a tortuous winter.
Tame, my arse.
According to the same analysis the figure of 6% next year does indeed match the level of 14% back then .I had no disposable income then and ended up in significant negative equity on a very small flat which was a terrible purchase and the monthly payments became 50% of my total income. So actually yeah it was tortious and my disposable income off my main job was negative

Skol I mean seriously even you surely could afford more than that. I’m glad to see you are again reverting to the jealous chip on shoulder chap you’ve been trying hard to restrain though
I do have a fixed mortgage on a very low rate - it expires next year sometime and I’m hardly losing sleep dear chap
It doesn’t only use PR.PR works so well. Have you purchased your brown shirt yet? I hope you know the Italian national anthem
It doesn’t only use PR.
She described herself as a big fan of the Tories recently.
I give them 12 months max.
The 1 in 4 of the 60 odd % of the population that voted is pretty shocking though.
Leftist plot. Oh the joys of being in a cult, regardless of reality you can convince yourself it’s everyone else’s fault
Well. Given they’re in charge it literally has to be a Tory plot. Old Kamikwasi didn’t wake up on Saturday morning going “shit, I accidentally trashed what’s left of the economy by reading a joke mini budget out in parliament. It was only bants”.Pretty ridiculous, but didn’t you claim yesterday that this whole charade is actually a Tory plot?

I mean, I think they have some pretty dumb beliefs about how to run an economy, and they’re backfiring quickly.
You appear to think the only explanation for people acting differently from how you would do it is if there’s some kind of evil conspiracy afoot - which ironically puts you in the same category as the Mail, albeit on the other end of the ideological spectrum.
Except that there's reasonable grounds for suspicion that the people in charge of the country and the economy really are corrupt as well as incompetent.

Well the person I was centring the “plot” around went on the record today saying that they found the budget “very useful”. They’re not even pretending.I mean, I think they have some pretty dumb beliefs about how to run an economy, and they’re backfiring quickly.

Investors getting advance intel on a budget and making money off it is, of course, extremely believable. I’m talking about people on here who claim that Kwarteng and Truss’ entire budget strategy is just a ruse, and part of some personal get-rich-quick scheme.
It’s a fun story to tell yourself, and a convenient way to explain the actions of people who are seemingly on another planet to you, but the reality is a lot more dangerous - they actually believe this stuff.
It’s not a get rich scheme for them. I don’t think the IMF are knocking on the door yet
Don’t worry, we hold all the cards.Barely 24 hours. Impressive.
Now imagine that 50% of your total income was being spent on rent instead of something you own and that's what millions of people are dealing with today.I had no disposable income then and ended up in significant negative equity on a very small flat which was a terrible purchase and the monthly payments became 50% of my total income. Very pithy, but the UK is still, and always will be, part of Europe. Can we still be called 'the sick man of Europe', or has Brexit done for that too?
Nope. He will just sack a couple of butlers. Then you're a bit stuffed next year no
