Because he's an absolute crank who seems so broken by Starmer that he appears to be suggesting he's was bought for a book to excuse war crimes.

The Israelis don't give so many of our politicians money for nothing.
When I was saying the same about the Russians and the tories I'm fairly sure you were agreeing with me.

Yes but we're talking about a book here.

And it clearly had nothing to do with the immunity for a war criminal like that guy is suggesting.

Was Garry McKinnon and the fact he flew the day his deportation was blocked to meet the US government officials a lie?

Are you saying all these things are made up?

Pretty incredible how quickly Islamaphobia has been normalised here and in other European countries, it’s no longer taboo in the slightest for politicians to make it a central plank of their policy.

Yeah it's grim.

As is this on the same topic:

Why do you think the book is relevant?

It’s bizarre - I wonder if he thinks it’s a fictional character called Kier Starmer and not a researched evidence based book

According to you and Grendel it seems so yes. But that's for the other thread.

Still making things up I see

Your incredible reading comprehension comes to the fore again.

You've read 'Book on places & history in Israel' have you?

I think it’s you that’s having trouble with comprehension and distinguishing facts from fiction.

Seems a fair few others are seeing through you now

I agree, I don't think it was the point of the tweet

It was clearly the exact point of the tweet 😂

You may have been making a different point (about the Times journalists) but the author of the tweet is quite clearly making it about the book and Israel.

No, you seem to be talking about a totally different book that no one else is.

Keep up.

I hate to agree with PVA as it's most unedifying, but why on earth is Starmer being given a book in that tweet? Are we really supposed to think that he thought it was such a fantastic book that he decided to let somebody off a war crimes trial, with no justification for doing so at all?

I also read the article Steve linked about Hoyle, and I don't see anything wrong with his trip based on that!

Meanwhile... I must agree with SBT. It is slightly worrying that there's a possibility Braverman will indeed be next leader of the Conservatives. You'd hope that'd mean they'd be destroyed in an election, but Trump looked a harmless crank who just shot his mouth off with nobody listening, and he's now mainstream and worrying. In recent years, British politics does tend to follow American politics a few years later on delay, so maybe we will see a Braverman premiership.

What a thought(!)

Exactly. It's an absurd tweet.

(though describing agreeing with me as being unpleasant seems a little harsh!)

Still better than the Tories. And neither party are promising austerity technically. Both parties plans have spending rising.

You are in reality a Tory now anyway
