I don’t know if Braverman herself has the political talent to become PM (I doubt it) but her views on Islam are now more mainstream than ever - it was previously only the kind of stuff you’d hear people like Nick Griffin say. Now it’s in major newspapers (and on this board).It is slightly worrying that there's a possibility Braverman will indeed be next leader of the Conservatives. You'd hope that'd mean they'd be destroyed in an election, but Trump looked a harmless crank who just shot his mouth off with nobody listening, and he's now mainstream and worrying. In recent years, British politics does tend to follow American politics a few years later on delay, so maybe we will see a Braverman premiership.
I also think the importing of American politics into British culture will only make things more toxic here. Seeing people on this forum go to the mat to defend things like gun ownership rights and anti-abortion laws - subjects which have been long settled issues over here for decades and have almost no relevance to everyday British life - is mind-boggling to me.
