The tax payer does not pay for anythingThey just can’t help themselves. Ignore the headline she’s not paying jack shit, the taxpayer is picking up the bill of their culture war nonsense

This comment could easily belong in the "Things that annoy you" thread, but as it has a political theme, i will keep it away from there:-
The undermining of Parliamentary process by "leaks" of proposals in the Budget does my fuckin' head in! All of it should be embargoed until the Chancellor has presented it to the HoC. Or maybe let the lazy bastard journos do some actual journalistic work and report on what has actually happened.
I suspect i am most annoyed by "Budget Day" of old turning into something like "Guy Fawkes Fortnight" in the media.
Oh God my daughter is due at the end of the year! Well done BTW.If you listened to the budget, then closed your ears and erased your memory of the last 14 years it would sound good in isolation.
However if you remembered the previous 14 years you would know that a lot of what they announced were either a reversal of things they’d done in the past 14 years, re announcement of policy they’ve already failed to achieve or left you thinking you’ve been in power for 14 years why are you only announcing doing anything about it now as you desperately lurch to a GE defeat.
If you left your ears open afterwards you’d know that not lifting the tax threshold not only keeps low earners paying tax it drags new low earners into paying tax.
I’ve used one of the various online calculators and anything going into my pocket directly doesn’t even cover the elevation in council tax I received a bill for yesterday. Between me and the Mrs we will be marginally better off considering the council tax rise but the reality inflation means in real terms we had a lot more expendable income 2 years ago. We’re one of the lucky ones too, we’re still on a fixed rate mortgage until 2028 so our mortgage hasn’t been effected by Trussonomics yet.
How much should it have increased to fag packet maths ?If you listened to the budget, then closed your ears and erased your memory of the last 14 years it would sound good in isolation.

But compound no, so inclusive of last year or longer? It's not even a good budget
The frozen tax thresholds still make most people worse off.
My mortgage? How much should it have increased to fag packet maths ?
No not really Dave'provided the tweet. My mortgage?
As of this budget. But compound no, so inclusive of last year or longer?
Yeah,,but last the loss is existing for two years not just the one ahead plus the one previous? As of this budget.
Most people still lose more money than the cut in NI gives them back.
She’ll probably be in for a shock but mercifully mortgage rates are coming down marginally so it would have been a lot worse had she’d been needing to get a new deal last year.Oh God my daughter is due at the end of the year! Well done BTW.
It exists until the thresholds changeYeah,,but last the loss is existing for two years not just the one ahead plus the one previous?
Please just quantify how much is lost over that period so we have a record of their failure? It exists until the thresholds change
I can't give you figures as I don't have any information on when the tax thresholds may be raised and if they are how much they will be raised by.Please just quantify how much is lost over that period so we have a record of their failure?
Regardless of your personal crusade on this topic, I think it’s only appropriate for the costs of defaming someone to be picked up by the person doing the defaming, rather than their employer! The tax payer does not pay for anything

We have two years up to now.I can't give you figures as I don't have any information on when the tax thresholds may be raised and if they are how much they will be raised by.
How could you think it sounds good in isolation? He's announced yet more departmental cuts. Levelling Up, Housing and Communities cut by 30% year on year. Transport by nearly 40% etc. Dreadful. If you listened to the budget, then closed your ears and erased your memory of the last 14 years it would sound good in isolation.

I was specifically talking about how Hunt delivered it in parliament. Not the reality of the budget. Hence in isolation. How could you think it sounds good in isolation?
