Agreed. Grimes has been the icing on the cake. Things were obviously nicely freshened up before he arrived. Wright will be interesting as realistically for him to play either EMC or Simms have to drop out. If he’s fit Wright plays as our best attacker by a distance. Nice problem to have!
Would be a huge mistake. Play Wright on the right and you dilute your best forward. Why? Both players are better than Sakamoto in terms of goals and assists. I really don’t understand why he’s considered the shoe-in. He isn’t a game changer like Simms and EMC are.
My prediction is that Haji will have a go at RW but will operate as a second striker and EMC has 3 targets in the box; Simms, Wright and Rudoni.

The goal, I was surprised how much time and space EMC was allowed to get the cross in,any ideas, just a defensive error?Haji hadn’t played much football as a LW before he came to us and played an equal amount at RW and LW, more or less.
Haji Wright’s role will be very different in Lampard’s set up compared to Robins. He’ll he expected to get in the box and operate as a second or third striker.
There were moments yesterday where the width of entire front 3 was narrower than the box. It’s set up for a front 3 of Wright, Simms and EMC. My personal view is that EMC will end up at RW because he has the skill set to get past players and get the ball in the box.
it was the follow up to the simms shot, and they just didnt know where they wereThe goal, I was surprised how much time and space EMC was allowed to get the cross in,any ideas, just a defensive error?
Lampard’s title is Head Coach?I can't believe people are still arguing over this.
A lot has changed since Robins left. The announcement of Lampard took ages. It could have gone either way. Things were turning toxic at our club. But it seems Lampard wanted to do things his way or not join us. You can't blame him because if he failed with us his record as manager would have looked poor.
Things changed when King took over. Robins title was changed from manager to coach. It wasn't just down to him on the players coming in or out. The older, experienced players left. We were left without leaders on the pitch. But we bought young players for good money that would have a good resale value.
Fast forward to Lampard taking over. His title is manager. He brought in his own coaches. Looks like he has the say on which players join us. Only two so far but they're 29 and 33. We paid between 3.5m and 4m for a 29 year old. We most probably won't get a penny back from him. But worth every penny. The value of the other players will go up especially if we get promoted.
The Lampard appointment was a very good one. Letting him do it his way even more important. I was worried about his appointment, especially how things could go if he couldn't turn things around. And it wasn't a certainty he could. But with the way our club was when Robins left there was no chance Robins would have been able to turn it around like Lampard has.
Lampard was never going to be able to get us to the level of Leeds this quickly. But now we're not far off being the second or 3rd best side in the Championship. Keep this run going and we could finish 4th. People laughed at the thought of us getting anywhere near the playoffs even as recently as the start of last month.
Yes Robins was brilliant for us especially with all the crap that went on. But Lampard is the man to take us to the next level.
I thought I read somewhere he was manager but could be wrong.Lampard’s title is Head Coach?
Nah, he was appointed as Head Coach, although I don’t see much difference, personally!I thought I read somewhere he was manager but could be wrong.
He is head coach and Joe Edwards, assistant head. CoachI thought I read somewhere he was manager but could be wrong.
I'm just happy that after such a long post on such an emotional subject that people can't agree that I've only been pulled up on one thing so farHe is head coach and Joe Edwards, assistant head. Coach
Possibly. In reality though Wright is always operating as a second striker. He didn’t float 20 goals in from the wide left last season. My point is our three best forwards are Wright, EMC and Simms. But I don’t think they should all play in the same team. It’s the lingering legacy of the unbalanced squad we have this season.Haji hadn’t played much football as a LW before he came to us and played an equal amount at RW and LW, more or less.
