Who are ya!?Time to wade in a bit here. I’m not here to be OTT, but also offer some balance.
As soon as null and void went off the table, there was only one conclusion - to promote you and Rotherham. The two best sides I’ve personally seen this season. We beat Rotherham at ours in our best performance of the season, whereas we were a bit flat against yourselves. We’ll never know what would have gone on, but based on the key games you won just before lockdown, I think you would have won the league.
What annoyed me was what happened next and how this has been portrayed.
It turns out WPPG was an Oxford United designed scheme to go up in 3rd without the playoffs. I’m glad the EFL got a stat man in to look at both and they’ve now rejected that version. Not least from self interest, but just because all it did was distort the table and went for a projection method.
The club I have the most sympathy with is Ipswich. It’s going to cost them far more to curtail the season than to play it out. That applies to us too and Sunderland. It’s not true for the majority of the league though, which I accept.
MacAnthony’s conduct has annoyed me recently. Originally we were singing from the same hymn-sheet but he’s since started suggesting creative playoffs etc etc and now Barry Fry is banging on about WPPG again.
Hearing rumours that Oxford might have broken rank after a bit of a hissy fit in joining us the other day because of the WPPG thing.
It’ll be sorted soon. For us, I’m keen to either win our financial argument, or if we can’t, then just adopt the framework as per L2 now. Get on with it.
I hope to see you again next season!
That's true but at least there is some justification / precident for those two options. Any other option is likely lead to threats from some quarter or other.Problem is their flappers who are worried sick by threats from DM etc this will probably drag on weeks
I actually hope it’s Portsmouth that come up with us and Rotherham, good place to go, if allowed, decent loyal supporters too, mainly and like us been through the mill a bit.Who are ya!?
Genuinely, which team you on about?
Pompey?
Interesting from Kenny. Accepts season is over and top 2 should go up and play offs is still an option.
Pompey boss' verdict on whether Coventry and Rotherham should be promoted automatically

I'm sure the setting up of the schedule can be dragged out for a few weeks.
What would happen if there is a second surge. I would want to play the weakest teams first. How can you possible setup a schedule which is fair?
If this is a problem then why isn't it a problem for the games already played?
I've said it in another thread. What's to stop other clubs suing the EFL or Peterboro/Dmac for humanitarian reasons citing that by being made to play on, they are being forced to put their staff, players and potentially any fans who do turn up at risk of contracting a known fatal illness, even with all the known preventative methods ? While I was interested in hearing DMac at the start, as this has progressed, his verbal diarrhea has gotten to epic proportions.
I would assume any player who’s contract has expired and has secured another club won’t play or want to play, I wouldn’t risk an injury that could put a move in jeopardy.
There’s a completely different financial context in League 1.Depends if the Prem and Championship are playing games. That argument won't really hold up if other football is going on...
On a lighter note I'm just about to start watching Sunderland till I die 2 on Netflix whilst reminding myself they've not beat us since they came down and 3 years ago they were celebrating g our demise to league 2... Oh my days I hope we have good news this week lol
They were also all over this place in 2012.
It's almost too bitter sweet
Wrong thread :emoji_worried: soz.
It still remains a ridiculous statement though. This was his full quote:
"The plan with Ivan Toney was for us to win promotion to the Championship, offer him a much better contract, watch him score 20 goals in the Championship and then he could be worth £20-£25 million,” MacAnthony said. “But that could be taken away from us without kicking another football.
It's hypothetical bollocks.
I just read it as basically Ivan Toney is for sale. Suggesting what might be worth and capable of that is saying he wants about £4-5m now imo.If that's how they plan they're fucked. It's on a par with "my retirement plan is to win the lottery"
Who in their right minds are going to spend £4/5million on a third division player when there are going to be dozens of provern championship and even Premiership players available for no fee and perhaps more realistic wages. If Peterborough have banked next season on any Ivan Toney fee they might have a problem. Toney will be on a top dollar at Posh and I suspect DM wants him off the wage bill, wonder how long his contract is.I just read it as basically Ivan Toney is for sale. Suggesting what might be worth and capable of that is saying he wants about £4-5m now imo.
When we go up test the water. I like Godden, but offer him back plus £1.5-2m and a sell on. Definite upgrade imo and would be hungry for the Championship.
It isn’t the EFL voting they will monitor any meeting and work if they can with any decision, they will have an opinion for sure but by allowing any vote and going or attempting to go with any decision I assume helps their legal status.Naa doubt we will hear anything until friday. Meeting due to be today but we know full well it will not give us a defintive answer. The efl we're talking about remember
Who are ya!?

After the 1 - 0 win over Ipswich I let it be known to one and all that should we go
on and win the league I’d decorate the pub in CCFC colours ‘Hmm well at least
I’ll have plenty of time to get the job done.
Don’t tell him PikeI take it that it's your pub? If so, can you say which one? - so we can visit post pub lockdown!
