EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted (2 Viewers)

Cant see Championship screwing is over. They want promotion to the Premiership, so that will be replicated down to L2.

FA and Rick Parry have stayed that promotions and relegations will have to happen. FA has also said voiding the season is not an option.

Basically, it’s inevitable that we will promoted as Champions. Just need to let this play out...

Some of our fans are so annoyingly bias lol

If we were in pboro or some relegstion thrratened teams place no way you wpuld be moaning if we were fighting void ppg decisions
And likewise if Peterborough were where we are in the league then their gobshite of a chairman would be out of the news

If they can't decide by Friday does the decision get delayed for another week?

Is the meeting today? I’m struggling to remember if it’s Tuesday or Wednesday!
I heard the EFL are meeting today to discuss things but without any League One representatives there. I think Friday might be voting day

"As a club, we entered the league to determine the best team over 46 games, not 37. That is the premise with which season cards, player contracts and partnerships are agreed."

Fucking morons haven't realised it's a 44 game season.

Or even better his other quote - "Fulfilling our remaining fixtures will come at considerable cost, but it sets a deeply concerning precedent for professional football clubs to decide against completing competitions they have entered because they don’t feel like doing so. "

That kind of comment won't go down well with the clubs who are struggling financially... muppet

Haven't read the recent posts on here but suspect this talk of teams wanting to play on is a bargaining tool to get teams to support the 8 team play off proposal.

"I've been on every call, there's no animosity or anger towards each other, but there are differences of opinion, but we have to respect each other's differences of opinion." From Pompey CEO.

Even if there has been no animosity on the calls there have been public statements that an unnamed chairman would be suing other clubs if he didn't get his was and now Sunderland are calling out the professionalism of those that don't agree with them.

I'm beginning to see a correlation between where teams are with PPG in the league and what their nearest newspapers say about their best solution gaining traction with other teams :D

I only read the first line of that report ...

"A proposal for the final promotion spot in League One to be decided via an eight-team play-off is gaining legs ahead of today's crucial EFL meeting."

Saw them talking about the final (ie. third promotion) spot so gave up at that point. As long as 1st and maybe 2nd are safe from all the shenanigans, I've given up caring about what happens to the rest of 'em as this will end in the courts, one way or another. There's too much self-importance in that group of 6 or 8 to let them get an agreement for all.

Or that they are a long way off being the best team :p

Just more gamesmanship and positioning.

Il tell you what, let these clubs delay until June, because at that point we have players who won't be able to fulfil the season contractually and they've fucked it for themselves anyway

Happy days

They were one of form teams tbh and we know the old saying about points in bag vs games in hand

As a one off i could understand an expanded playoff format

In fairness they did enter the league based on a 46 game season. The fact that Bury were expelled from the league just proves that things can change out of everyone's control. If the league does resume and causes Accrington and Wimbledon (for example) to go bust and their results are then expunged from the league, It would be interesting to see how that would affect the table.

In just 41 days, a huge portion of footballers within the football league pyramid are no longer under contract and have the option to play on or not themselves...do people really believe we can train, Then restart and finish the campaign in 41 days? It's all nonsense

Exactly this. Teams have said they need 3-4 weeks mini pre season should that be the case so that’s the 41 days gone without even starting.
It’s a nonsense

And from today, we would have to have a game every 4 days to finish before June 30th... Now let's consider training for a couple weeks, we are looking at a game every 2/3 days... It just cannot happen

Considering some teams in League 2 have started to do their retain lists and make them public. How will it work if players know they are not wanted next season but have been told to play games

Also haven't Fleetwood, Bristol Rovers and Lincoln ripped up their pitches? Although admittedly they've probably had time to bed in by now.

IF Coventry won just 4 more league games, then teams from 3rd to 6th would need to all win 7 from their last 9 to catch us and overtake us, if Coventry win 5 from 10 they all have to win 8 from 9.
That's with a few of them playing each other in the process... The reality is Coventry were as good as promoted
