I think you're right. I think £2.5m for Simms would have been fair, he's not reached any add ons yet. I think £7.7m for Wright is far too much.Think we overpaid for both Simms and Wright, but I’ll probably get pelters for the latter.
I don't mind Wright, his numbers seriously shut us all the fuck up, given the fact he's another player that hasn't got a first touch, is terrible on the ball and generally does fuck all, but he scores goals and at the end of the day that is all that matters.Think we overpaid for both Simms and Wright, but I’ll probably get pelters for the latter.

Though take into account, £10m for the likes of Tom Cannon, we could have been in a much worse position.

Fair enough.£7.7m for a twenty a season striker at this level is not too much.
Stansfield is mind boggling. Most of his goals just penalties i'm guessing. The market is just ridiculous.I don’t think we’ve overpaid for either player because the market is just that inflated. Birmingham spent £15m on Jay Stansfield who scored less goals than both our strikers last season.
As you say, if £10m for Cannon is the going rate, we’ve done alright.
Simms plays through the middle every game .. Wright doesnt
Haji has 28 goals and 8 assists in 69 league games , mostly off the left
No you're right, we do look better with Simms in the side. Just need to look at the stats of games he's started since Lampard came in and how many we've won.
When i found out he was playing with an injury about half way through that initial 10 game run, which took us back up towards play offs, i heard they were trying to find a way of managing the way he plays, as obviously we were without Wright and EMC, BTA was also playing with injury and so was Eccles. BTA eventually succumbed to his. Simms was our only real proper no.9, he wanted to do what he could to play. He's not really had a break since then, he did sit out once Wright came back, but now EMC is injured again. We've only won one where Wright has started as CF, so they obviously have a dilemma on their hands.
I think to a certain extent, the way they've used Simms is really good, he does occupy, he chases the lost causes and he presses like he's being asked to, allowing others to arrive and score the goals, but when it doesn't go our way, he's the scapegoat.
Doesn't bother me to be honest as i know what's been asked of him, and i know he's giving it his all despite managing a recurring injury.
What i find amusing is the constant comparison to Wright, who cost considerably more, who for arguments sake, should therefore be giving us more consistency.
Doesn't matter that Wright's first touch is often poor, because apparently Simms is worse.
Doesn't matter that Wright misses free headers, because he scores more than Simms. (would hope so for £7.7m no?)
We are including his penalties and tap ins for agenda purposes, but Simms' goals from last year don't count apparently, because of who they were scored against. Highly amusing.
True. the knives come out readily for Simms, that won't change.
Simms isnt unfairly judged at all .. hes had plenty of time and people like yourself have constantly made bullshit excuses for his poor form .. its boringThat’s not the point I was responding to. People trotted out the ‘how many games has he scored in’ argument before I and others pointed out that Simms scored more goals from open play and in more games than Haji last season.
Haji also missed more ‘big chances’ which has been the case this season when they’ve played together.
I think Haji is a top end Championship player on his day and better than Simms. Simms is unfairly judged.
Even since Haji has been back, he’s looked better off the left imo because he has more space to operate in. Sunderland (H) seems to be the exception atm because he’s been bullied a few times when he’s been asked to lead the line against the likes of Oxford (as a sub), Pompey, Sheff U and even Burnley, despite the goal.
I think we'll see BTA leave before Simms.I’d offload Simms in the summer. Something’s missing. He hasn’t got that nasty edge I think he’d style of game needs.
He hit 14 didn’t he for us in one season which shows me he’s got it but just not consistent enough (although his game time has dropped)
Then he bags last minute winners and my hopes raise but I think all in all, I’d rather we get someone else in. Just my thoughts

One thing is unarguable, the results are better when he plays.
This is true. I think JDS turnaround has been quite admirable. Credit to him, has had his fair share of abuse too. From what i've heard, they have a LB lined up, though he has made a case to remain as the back up. Perhaps now they've extended Bidwell, they can use that to gather some sort of fee for him. Smart business. In fairness, JDS has put in a number of good performances and didn’t really get much time today, so there’s no other (outfield) boo boys available.

Yeah, i think they will be exposed. Did you watch their cup final?Birmingham will get exposed next season imo because they have spent massively on decent Championship players. It’s pretty common for teams to get 95-100 points in L1 and struggle in the championship.
People have said we overspent on Rudoni and frankly, it looks like great value and wouldn’t have minded if we were ‘fleeced’ for a few million more.
I wouldn't play that way away from home TBFWho else are you going to play there?
Wright has a MPG of 147 according to the stats, the best in the championship.
As they are without sheaf ? Means nothing because ellis is barely contributing
I heard after the Stoke game that we had identified a LB (that can also play LCB), whether we go up or not. I messaged Saddle to see if he had heard the same as me and he said he had, so i'm hoping that's nailed on. There are 3 first team players looking to leave / be moved on.Exciting re the LB. Any idea what style of player? Is it the ‘LB MVE’ we all hope exists and is within our range?
Not sure what’s happened to Bidwell, he was the obvious experienced back up for next year, but he’s absolutely nose dived and not from a particularly high height.
He did last season so does that count for nothing in your view?
He’s still a young player and has 2 years on his contract, give him time.
Who knows. I'm sure someone would benefit from his experience.Hopefully Birmingham come and spend over the odds for Bidwell…
When you look at some of the money being spent in the championship last couple of seasons Wright definitely wasn’t an over payThink we overpaid for both Simms and Wright, but I’ll probably get pelters for the latter.
I think we'll see BTA leave before Simms.

Not sure with regards to Bidwell, maybe the injuries? but that's speculation on my part. He would make a solid LB for a mid-lower champ side in my opinion, i think extending his contract has given us a chance to recoup some money.

I heard domestic, Saddle said he had heard the same. That's why i'm hoping it's nailed on. The fact it was said specifically 'whether we go up or not' led me to believe that discussions may have already been ongoing.Domestic signing or abroad?
So that would indicate a high quality signing then , considering its up or notI heard domestic, Saddle said he had heard the same. That's why i'm hoping it's nailed on. The fact it was said specifically 'whether we go up or not' led me to believe that discussions may have already been ongoing.
