He started 8/12 under Robins, including 6 of the first 7. Then 1 of Lampard's first 7. It was Lampard's obsession with Bassette that was mind boggling.
Find it unbelievable tbh.He played well. I find criticism of him yesterday quite odd to be honest with you.
It’s amazing watching the retconning in real time. Every report says they battered us, every stat says they battered us, the match thread says they battered us, yet we’ve got people claiming it was a close game and a draw would have been fair or best of all that Lampard set us up to defend that way as part of his plan.
The xG was basically even which shows that they had a lot of shots but didn’t really create big chances. It was a typical away day performance where we conceded lots of chances and relied on hitting them on the counter.
Both second half goals relied on a dose of good fortune.
No you just gotta admit that a few weeks you was saying you dont see him scoring goals or contributing much ti the teams performance.Ah apologies , I will just go along with the falsehood that we witnessed R9 levels yesterday
If you can show my posts saying asante is a better player than Ellis simms , then I would appreciate that .. cheersNo you just gotta admit that a few weeks you was saying you dont see him scoring goals or contributing much ti the teams performance.
Hes been feeding off scraps and somehow created chances out of lost causes when we as a team we been woefull and couldnt string 3 passes together yesterday all match. Hes held the ball up very well something that no one else can do at the club. Haji Wright isnt a target man.
Few weeks you were pulling up stats that how much better you thought Asante was, which was statistically proven to be not true.
Generally the biggest centre back is always going to mark the opppsition target man.View attachment 41522
Worth noting that strikers in general don’t have great aerial duel numbers, but Simms’ are second only to Haji’s, and he does twice as well as Norm or BTA.
More than half our xG was Simms winner with 0.87.
Exactly… Their keeper also kept out Sakamoto’s header that was a good opportunity also.
Sheffield Wednesday had 11 shots with 0.77 xG which leads into the argument that they didn’t really trouble us that much.
We were a lot more efficient than they were.
Fuck me the way you’re going on youd have thought we lost 3-0What do you mean exactly? We have two big chances and put one away. They had four and put none away. Aside from anything else did you watch the game?
Argue with OptaFuck me the way you’re going on youd have thought we lost 3-0

What's he saying wrong exactly ?
Who cares we’ve just won 2-1 away from home against a play off rival and all we are doing is slagging players offWhat's he saying wrong exactly ?

Not true, have you forgotten he was dropped earlier this season in favour of Bassette?
When he returned he was far more active and is now back to bullying defenders.
He definitely wasn't doing that before he was dropped.
That's right, except there's perhaps less pressure now to rush him back too soonExactly. Theres barely an interview goes by where Lampard doesnt reference how good Wright is. He will be back starting as soon as he is able to
Simms is much more effective in a 2 up top.
I'm no great fan of BTA but his manic movement more than keeps one CB occupied which gives Simms a lot more freedom.
Well he's been ineffective as a lone striker this season. Do you disagree?Did last season not happen? Scored 19 goals playing as a lone striker.
He is an effective striker when he gets consistent game time.

What is everyone arguing about?
We won a massive away game Vs a rival despite not playing well.
Our striker played very well and got 2 goals but can still improve further given his attributes
Both things are promising.
Stats can have other bias though, how do his stats yesterday compare to other championship strikers on average, I'm just curious to know.Generally as I said stats don't tend to have any player bias .
Simms wasn't winning the ball very often yesterday when going against another player , it was noticeable and generally his overall play in game is in need of much improvement.
He scored 2 goals though so really in this instance what can you say ? Won us the game
From top to bottom , haji , simms and asanteStats can have other bias though, how do his stats yesterday compare to other championship strikers on average, I'm just curious to know.
Are his stats yesterday poor for a championship centre forward or have you just quoted stats that strikers are generally just lower in. For example for the pass completion all 4 strikers at our club are around 60% mark with Wright being highest at 68.5%.
Simms won us the game yesterday and I gave him motm , I'd like to see him use him attributes better as I think there are still 2/3 gears to go up .. i dont think that's a bad thing to say ..
Some fans see him playing excellent every week i dont I see him as a work in progress hes nowhere near where he can be
Not true, a loss of form has nothing to do with a lack of effort.Loss of form, which every players suffers from in his career. Saying he isn't giving 100% is lazy nonsense. A stick for fans to beat a player with.
And Lati is the bestView attachment 41522

The Simms we've seen of late, working the channels, battling with defenders, causing havoc in the box etc etc, was not the simms we saw earlier in the season.
The way he showed fight in the build up to his goal against Swansea is a classic example, he wasn't battling like that before he got dropped. And that's not down to form, that's down to effort.
He's another who seems to be responding well to Lampard's management. Not true, a loss of form has nothing to do with a lack of effort.

I find it strange that a player who scored a couple ,was a menace most of the afternoon and is having a bigger influence on games is being picked out for criticism when others are playing far worse . The majority of players have scope for improvement but as a Championship striker he is better than most and has had very limited supply. Quite simply if he was doing what some appear to be expecting of him he would be playing in the PL for a top side. Very unrealistic expectations sometimes
