We have been incredibly lucky with the draw in the knockout stage of the last 2 tournaments. In the world cup we lost 3 games. Belgium in the group, Croatia in the semi and Belgium again. We were lucky to get Colombia and then Sweden in the knockout stage. Croatia in a semi was great on paper. In these Euros again the draw has been fantastic for us. Definitely a missed opportunity and I do think Southgate does struggle to change a game.On the other hand he's had us in a world cup semi final and Euro's final. Italy best team in the tournament but we were a very close second.

If we had dominated and lost on penalties I’d be more bitter. We were outplayed for a lot of the game and on the balance Italy probably deserved it.It feels worse, way worse. Out in the group stages and you kind of know you’re not good enough
Fact of the matter is that everything went perfectly up to the final then- whatever way you want to look at it- we lost to a team who were no better than us and who have a worse squad than us, and we brought it on ourselves.
And no that doesn’t count as slating Southgate, it’s just the truth and I hope we learn from it before Qatar

We've had 2 tournaments in a row with favourable runs and one where the final was at home.
We got it wrong in both the semi in 2018 and this final .
