Not odd we all know when he is on it he is good but today was some extemelely strange moments from him and exceptionally poor decision making but he put his 2 penalties away with great aplomb, he wasn't 100% today so hence my mentioning him
His work for the disallowed goal after 120 minutes of football was fantastic

Extremely and exceptionally suggests he was poor ? Why over dramatize your post ?

I'm still not convinced long term that he has it but he keeps proving us wrong. He's been putting some lovely balls in from the right, is linking up well with MVE. For me he needs to start there for the remaining games and I would keep him around next season too.

Honestly I don’t understand anyone wasting the energy to criticise any of our players after that. Who gives a shit. It was phenomenal. Every one of them contributed to one of the most incredible games of football I will ever see in the flesh.

We could pump Barcelona 0-5 away and there’d still be people on here complaining that someone has a funny running style or isn’t good enough to do it week in week out.

If you can’t enjoy this team - assembled for less than half what Utd paid for Antony - you should just give up on being a football fan, you’ll never be happy.

Can we finally put the derision about this player from some quarters to bed.

Three goals in two starts this season and more than once recently has come off the bench and looked our best player. Today he was outstanding. Not just his pace and skill but deft touch and passing and intelligent play, including covering for Van Ewijk. Was a pity he had to go off.

All of this after over a year off with a really serious injury.

Some decided to write him off before he had played, but today he showed beyond doubt he has plenty of ability.
Exactly this some fans seemingly wanted him gone before he had even kicked a ball in anger for us this season. They just assumed he would be hopeless because he had been out injured for 12 months.
Remember years ago lots of fans thought Maddison and Wilson would never make the big time and yet both have become England internationals. He may yet prove not good enough long term, but he deserves a chance to prove otherwise.

I'm not one to say I told you so but I'm going to make an exception with Tav, I bloody told you so. He so clearly had bags of potential when I watched him at Rochdale and what few minutes he's had for us since he joined showed it was still there, he's just been so unlucky. Since coming back from injury this season he's been outstanding, long may it continue.

Fab Tav is looking better now he is not trying to skin the defender but is instead trying to work a bit of space and play a cross it.

Looks to be good coaching.
He’s got a few assists from crosses which is exactly the thing we were missing earlier on in the season. The cross and finish for Simms goal was fantastic!

A constructive criticism of Sakamoto is that at times he passes up opportunities to cross the ball. Partly because he’s left footed, partly because his game is centred around his dribbling ability. We have Simms and Wright as 6ft+ finishers - they just crossed in the box.

Also worth noting his quick development; he started against Maidstone on the wing and looked entirely clueless. Which can be partly expected as he’s clearly a poacher looking to run behind and not a winger.

Came on today, looked more tactically and positionally aware and helped changed the game.

It’s well worth giving him a few starts to determine if he can be the Saka understudy next year.

the thing that gives me hope for him is he takes men on and looks to get it in the box, if he bulked up a bit he would be a similar style player to EMC, although EMC is a level above

I’d keep in the squad, he’s earned the right to fight for a spot.

To meet our goals and aspirations, we need more quality, you want Sakamoto, EMC, Wright and another fighting for their spots week in, week out.

I did feel he just wasn't good enough, but I would now be quite happy for him to still be here next season. See if he can kick on further, because he really has surprised us all lately hasn't he.

I am more than happy to eat humble pie over him if he carries on like this

Has he got a year left?

Definitely had an impact in changing the game when he came on. AWB was definitely glad to see him go off.

All the subs were great yesterday and probably deserve a start against Hull.
Doubt Godden or Tavares start, the latter because of the injury. The other three surely will.

I didn't write him off. I said he wasn't playing well when he wasn't at the beginning of the season.
You should know by now that there's absolutely zero tolerance to any kind of criticism of any player at any time on here.
Either justified or not

Unless they've refused to sign a contract extension, in which case they are shit, they've given up, they've thrown in the towel and they were shit all along anyway!

Just saying.

We can and will do better but fair play to him he’s come on so much
